Nine Inch Nails in Concert
It's hard to imagine alternative music without Nine Inch Nails' hand painting it all in black. But the now iconic band had some rather humble beginnings. Musician Trent Reznor dreamed it all up as an assistant engineer and janitor at a studio in Cleveland, Ohio, back in the late 1980s. This job gave him access to a space where he could record demos—all by himself. These songs would eventually take him on tour in 1988, even supporting a major influence of Reznor’s, Skinny Puppy. This led to the 1989 release of NIN’s debut album, 'Pretty Hate Machine,' a collection of dark, grimy industrial pop that wormed its way into the mainstream consciousness with singles like “Head Like a Hole,” and ended up peaking at No. 75 on the Billboard 200. Quickly, NIN would be everywhere, even landing a coveted spot at the first Lollapalooza in 1991. But this was only the beginning.
NIN’s second album, 1994's 'The Downward Spiral,' proved Reznor's star power in all of its doom and drama, especially with major hits like "Closer" and "Hurt." The accompanying Self Destruct Tour saw those songs transformed into wild and vicious performances, feeding the dark myths behind Reznor’s shocking NIN persona. But his last release of the '90s, 'The Fragile,' would show a slightly more introspective side with its haunting mix of beauty and brutality.
Into the 21st century, NIN has never quite stayed the same—in sound or in lineup—but Reznor's ferocity and fearlessness as an ever-evolving artist has. He’s consistently challenging the idea of electronic music and its ability to play with the psyche, even in its most minimalist form with ambient releases like 'Ghosts I-IV' and his own award-winning film score work with Atticus Ross. Still, NIN is every bit as steely and subversive as it ever was—as proven yet again with the experimental industrial rock of 2018’s 'Bad Witch' and its supporting Cold and Black and Infinite Tour.
Over the course of their career, NIN have brought countless venues to capacity, like Zappos Theater.
Easy in and out, amazing nine inch nails performance, great sound.
NIN put on an amazing show, as always. Easy in the theatre and back out. The reason for the 3 stars, should really be 1-star…..parking. Parking was a complete nightmare. You have to pay at a kiosk on the way back into the garage after the show. 2-3 were working for hundreds of people in line. An hour in line after the show just to pay. Then, for whatever reason, traffic was completely stopped for another hour and 20 minutes. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes just to leave. Beyond unacceptable. Not the theatre’s fault, since parking is Planet Hollywood’s lot, but guilty by association.
The bathrooms were jamm packed and the house stagg seem tonlack control. Nine Inch Nails whaled man. What an epic performance by one of the greatest poets of our lifetimes . Tewnt Reznor along with his band are the bes, simply the best. Planet hollywood i liked venue. Im giving 5 stars since Nine Inch Nails performed and inwould give them all the stars if possible. Such an epic night of industrial hardcore metal music.
Previous nin concert 5 stars this one was a zero star sounded monotone and few previous hit song
EPIC TOUR ! They are toward the end of a very long road around the world , they are tight , the tone coming off the stage still echoes in my head ! Masters of amazing music and live performance ! The set list is epic ,and I will not miss the next tour unless the whole world has gone away .
Great show at Zappos. Show as great but venue left plenty to be desired. From making everyone walk 3/4 of a mile around the mall to get in to the parking garage. The parking payment system is atrocious, the garage is stupid slow to empty. We spent over an hour and 15 minutes from the time we got to our car to the time we got out. Made for a long night!
The show was amazing! The energy, the lights and the music all are reasons I travel to see them. I am a senior with a bad knee and I find that hotels attached to the venue is so convenient and safer for me. The music is always new and fresh with a couple of old favorites! I thought the back to back shows in Atlanta were my favorite but this show topped those!
Trent still is one of the best live performers there is. Don’t know that I have seen Robin sing as much as this night but it was awesome. This current lineup is incredibly talented and the songs are on point.
Absolutely great performance from NIN!!! Sound great Seats great Merch very affordable But… very long and slow lines to exit from the theatre, only one door to exit Also the line for paying for the parking was incredibly long!
Nine Inch Nails put on an amazing show! Trent Reznor still sounds just like the records. Band setup and lights was beautifully done. The only downfall was the venue. We had front row tickets behind the pit and the only bathroom was back up "500" stairs to the entrance.
Great set list! The band gets tighter every time! They rocked the house!!
Incredible performance, absolutely an unreal show. 4th time I have seen them and this was the best yet. PLEASE get them to tour Canada!!
Good mix of songs from over the years and a mix of interesting twists of songs and straight-forward performances plus a great tribute to an idol.
Decent, which a NIN show shouldn’t be. There was a nice collection of songs performed from the band’s multi decade career, with a dark minimalist aesthetic, but performances happen within a portion of the stage, outlined by lighting that seems to be designed specifically to discourage video recording. Unfortunately it is a glaring distraction for those viewing with the naked eye too.
Right away we were jacked because NIN!! The venue Hayden Homes Amphitheater is amazing! Easily the best venue I've been to! Got some awesome merch, 2 short sleeves, 1 long sleeve, a hat and a zip up hoody. Pretty decent selection of food choices. And the show was SPECTACULAR!! The opener was a band that was new to me, Yves Tumor, they were an excellent surprise and I will be listening to more of them. Then NIN came on and it was GREAT!! HOPE TO SEE NIN AGAIN! THANKS 😊
I have seen NIN on multiple occassions. Always in an indoor. Non amphitheatre style. There was room to jump up and down. Join the pit ang get immersed in the show This style tiered venue where you cannot dance is altogether wrong for NIN in my opinion. Here you cannot move even your arms! It felt like it was double sold. Plus as a clincher the most boring uninvolved crowd I have been around. Love NIN Hate the Greek.
Nine inch nails has one of the best live shows I've seen. It's a whole experience from the great sound and imagery. The set was a roller coaster of fast and slow hits. I would love to see them again.
Show was absolutely fantastic! All of the seats have a good view as the terrace is quite angled. Our seats were in the aisle with the ADA seating directly across the walkway, they were great! The seats were great until security stopped doing their job of keeping the walkway aisle path clear from us to the ADA section. If we sat in our seats our faces would be in someones butt. There was zero space for us to stand in our designated standing area space directly in front of us on the metal drains, we were forced to stand in our seats. Other than being forced to stand the entire concert we had a great time!
Decent venue with really great sound and lighting. No seating which meant a lot of shifting and shoving, though. And I’m still waiting on a venue that assigns tickets based on height so a giant doesn’t plant their back directly in front of your face… Otherwise, the concert was great!
Best show of my life, no joke. Opened up with Somewhat Damaged. 2 tracks off Broken. A Bowie cover. Everything was absolutely stunning. Literally the only not-phenomenal moment was the mediocre sax, after which he made a self-depricating joke. Even when there was a hiccup on 1,000,000 and they stopped half-way through, they got right back to the show. 10/10.
