About

For her hotly anticipated sophomore album, Nashville songstress Nikki Lane teamed up with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys for a record that turns the vulnerable singer-songwriter stereotype on its ears. With songs that crucify ex-boyfriends, celebrate one-night stands (as long as she can bolt town right after) and proclaim that it’s “always the right time to do the wrong thing,” Lane comes across like a modern-era Wanda Jackson, albeit with more oats to sow. “My songs always paint a pretty clear picture of what’s been going on in my life, so this is one moody record,” she says. “There’s lots of talk of misbehaving and moving on.”

    So good

by Joe on 1/27/19Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Nikki Lane is an absolute blast to watch live. She's funny and sounds amazing. After her set she posted for pictures, selfies and signed autographs until the last fan was accommodated. I would recommend going anytime she's near you.

Great Band, Great Singer, Great Times!

    by Hojo88 on 8/25/17Birchmere - Alexandria

The Band: This was our third time seeing Nikki Lane, and she and her group have outdone themselves this time. Ms Lane had a really fun stage presence, with more interjections and dialogue than we've seen in the past - she really appeared at home on the stage. At one point, she let the rest of the band take a break and played a few songs solo, taking requests from the audience. A nice blend of the "classics" and material from the new album was performed, with a refreshing twist on at least one of the older songs (I won't spoil which) being presented. It was overall a very well-rounded experience. She and her band were also extremely friendly and social after the show, taking selfies with the fans, signing memorabilia and just engaging in casual conversation. The Venue: This was our first time at The Birchmere, and we didn't know fully what to expect, but it is a rather enjoyable place. Parking is free, but show up early to guarantee a spot in their lot. There's a very decent menu, and actual seating to enjoy it at. I'd estimate that food and drink are between 2-5 dollars more than at a comparable specialized establishment (restaurant or bar). The staff was professional and did a great job; wait times for everything were very short.

    Nikki is a queen!!!

    by Chad26 on 8/3/17Birchmere - Alexandria

Nikki put on a great show. I loved the setlist. She made you laugh and want to sing along, she gave me chills, and I even got a touch misty-eyed. If you can ever see her live you should! She is a killer performer and a real sweet girl!

Nikki Lane & Clear Plastic Masks

by Tinyrivets on 11/7/15Port City Music Hall - Portland

She's got that old country twang down pat, the cryin' drinkin' leavin' songs are just icing on the cake. I'd seen her before so I knew what to expect, she delivered. My biggest surprise was Clear Plastic Masks. They have this Rock'n Soul Jam vibe that is so hard to define. The lead singer just dominates the stage. The guitarist looked like he was going into fits while he's shredding through songs. The bass player didn't look up once that I saw, but he and the drummer laid down a seriously solid back beat. Yes I bought the record, and I wished I had before the show so I could have sung along.

    Nikki Lane is a force.

by Lizabray on 6/25/14Mercury Lounge - New York

Mercury Lounge is a fantastic venue; it's like stepping into a different dimension, protected from the noise and the pace of the Lower East Side. I love Mercury Lounge and am always excited to attend a show there. My one and only critique is that occasionally they don't specify the openers or the number of openers for a particular show, which causes the headliner to go on much later than initially expected. Nikki Lane is beautiful, talented, and fiery. Her music is progressive, but in a feminist way; maintaining a classic country sound and (definitely) mood. She knows how to work a crowd and seems completely at ease with her band and the stage. Don't miss out on seeing her.
