Nick brings the funny to the obvious and political. In a time when the climate is negatively effecting is all, he can make you laugh and realize it’s up to us to make the change and keep fighting for the right things.
Absolutely hilarious. Original. Musically and comedically talented. Just a wonderful human being overall. There was a lot of hype...he exceeded it. Could not have asked for a better show.
Had I known it was going to be 90% political I would have saved my time and money. Went for laugh and got a lecture. Seemed like most of the laughing was nervous laughter as to not offend the easily offended. Pandering ...... Hollywood echo chamber.... Blah. Blah. Blah.
Having enjoyed Offerman in his Parks and Rec days and really appreciative of his woodworking skills and teaching, I thought this would be some simple laughter in a world that is complicated. Turns out it was hard to laugh. Nothing redeemable, nothing very funny.
Funny, articulate, surprising, interesting, thought provoking....I can’t say enough.
The show was decent. I didn't have any full belly laughs, but he was consistent. The venue has a new clear bag policy that is a complete joke. You also go through a metal detector. The policy was not effectively communicated and people were lined up outside due to it. The size of purse you can bring in is ridiculous. I will avoid this venue in the future as much as possible.
Nick is not funny, he can’t play guitar and cannot sing. His jokes consist of old assumptions that conservatives are racist and homophobic, a bee song, and a story about buying some carpenter pants. The song about Brett Cavanaugh and rape was awful. In real life, he is as ridiculous as his character was on P&R, just in a different direction. Quite vulgar, too.
we were very excited to experience Nick Offerman. but it was our fault that it did not live up to our expectations. as much as we knew not to, we were hoping for more ron swanson and less politics. just a break from all the political hoop lah and some good ole laughter. no matter what though, it was incredible to be able to say we have seen him live! that voice! that giggle!
The size of women’s purses allowed into the venue should have been made more clear in advance. I had to walk back to our car after waiting in line and return to the back of the line.
I felt like he just reintegrated the same ole Hollywood feel about politics with just a little bit of humor and sarcasm. Left feeling disappointed.
Offerman was great. Material wasn’t quite what I’d expected, but the show was good and well delivered. Show parking was $10. The venue was easy to get in and out of, concession lines were reasonable (if not a little expensive: $27 for a double jack and ginger and a 20oz Miller Lite), but it was VERY warm in the theater. Maybe the heat was rising to upper level, but by the end of the show, I felt like I’d just finished fondue dinner. Auditorium was nicely maintained for age, but definitely dated.
I had no idea Nick Offerman was in town until the day before. Thankfully there were still tickets available in the very back. He was so funny it didn’t matter that he looked like he was the size of a sour patch kid. I loved seeing how many people in Knoxville understood his jokes. I was afraid the yee-haw hometown wouldn’t realize the difference between Nick and Ron. My only regret is how many Knoxvillians were on their phones. It was so distracting and made me sad for Nick as a performer. 10/10 would pay to see him again if he came back this week.
I should’ve done more research before purchasing our tickets....
Nick Offermen was everything I expected him to be, plus way more! I truly enjoyed every minute of it. I hope he decides to come back to Knoxville again!
I love Nick Offerman on TV, but watching him forget the lyrics to his own songs at least three times while obtusely beating us over the head with the “right” point of view on all major current topics was painful. I wouldn’t see him again in person unless I saw a stand up special where he demonstrates that he has found his voice instead of saying the things he thinks society needs someone to say.
I’m a huge fan of Nick Offerman’s TV and film work, and was hoping this would translate into his stage show. I saw he and his wife when they toured together maybe five years ago, and although I think the roles they’ve played have been really funny, together they just weren’t. It was a very flat evening. I felt the same during his show Friday night. His delivery is terrific, but as the show goes on, it starts to feel tired. The songs he performed weren’t all that great, and a really uncomfortable moment where he stopped in the middle of a song to admonish people in the front who were talking just made it not a great evening.
To laugh a couple times in over hour at a comedy show is more like a tragedy.
I always love shows at the palace! It’s a great venue, never a bad seat in the house. However, I was disappointed in the show. Was not what I expected-I was hoping for a funny, laugh out loud show by Nick Offerman and instead it was a political show the whole time. We had fun regardless, but probably won’t see him again.
There were people talking in the front row and the Talent got very angry and yelled at them as well as the audience. The whole show was uncomfortable and awkward.
