  • Nick Offerman is funny but not at stand up

    by bing84 on 11/11/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

My boyfriend and I were both terribly bored as were other members of the audience. You could feel the energy being sucked out of the room. Nick is a very funny man, but clearly needs a script. Stand up is NOT his thing. We were very disappointed.

  • Really disappointed!

by Aneen on 11/11/14Beacon Theater - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

It pains me to say this, but I was really disappointed by the show. I'm a huge Offerman fan. Saw him last year in New York and he was wonderful. But this time, his show was so, so disappointing. His opening act, Cornmo, was just depressing, irritating and silly. My spirits lifted when Offerman finally arrived... but that enthusiasm was short lived. His material was really poor. He spoke way too much about his wife, and just seemed a lot less humble and genuine than when I saw him last year. I thought it was just me who wasn't finding things funny, but I realised that most of the other members of the audience near me were also fairly straight-faced. Such a shame. And... I actually left the show after the first hour. Something has to be really bad for me to do that!

  • Not worth going to

by Anonymous on 11/11/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

Nick Offerman was not funny. If you're looking to hear his same Ron Swanson act with some un-funny stories, mediocre guitar playing, and shameless plugs for his wife's broadway show, definitely check it out. Otherwise save your money and just watch Parks and Rec.

very entertaining show, kept me interested the whole time. not your typical comedy experience, but great nonetheless. nick offerman is a fantastically interesting man and his stories ran the gamut. also, i would sit through the show just to listen to his giggle alone.

Opening act, Cornmo, came out and played two very depressing songs. To open a comedy show. Pretty much the worst. As for Offerman himself, he is charming, verbose, and has a gripping lexicon, which translates into being mildly funny when placed alone on the stage. I'm still a big fan of his, but I can't recommend going to see this show. Save your money and watch his Google talk video for free on youtube.

  • Massive dissapointment

    by ChrisN1 on 11/11/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

ill prepared material, clearly wasn't a 'tour' and was Nick fulfilling an obligation having likely been invited as a guest rather than billing himself as a main drawcard performance. More of a monologue with the odd observational quip before closing by telling us he was more of a "humorist" than a comedian... could have learned that before we paid our $$.

  • Not impressed

by mrmeme on 11/11/14Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

We went to this expecting the kind of light hearted yet dry humor of Ron Swanson. Instead, we got a lot of crude sex jokes and constant references to what he likes to do with his wife. Not worth the money. You'll have more fun watching a rerun of Parks and Recreation.

So funny I don't think I had a moment without a grin on my face. Awesome venue too. All around fabulous show!

  • by Anonymous on 11/10/14Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

He was definitely funny, had a memorable laugh. A little too political at times. The guitar helped liven things up at times, it was a full hour and 45 minutes of comedy.

great performance, so glad I got to see Nick Offerman! Favorite moment was his tribute to Lil' Sebastian!

  • Lost momentum

by OriginalHawk on 11/10/14Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

He started strong, but then he went off on some tangent and seemed to lose the audience from then on. I struggled to stay awake.

How can you go wrong with Ron Swanson?? Very entertaining and funny. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. His stand up is great! Lots of laughs and would absolutely see him again.

  • Nick was so good I could smell the musk

by Erickneidel on 11/10/14Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

He was funny but best of all intelligent. It is nice to have such a great sense of humor but no need to act like an idiot.

  • Nick Offerman was great!

    by 22sunshine on 11/10/14Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing Nick so I didn't know what to expect. He had a wide range of topics and jokes and he made it all funny. He had this giggle in between jokes that sent the audience laughing every time. He played guitar and sang a few songs which was a nice addition to the normal stand up. My friends and I went out afterwards and had a great time remembering Nick's jokes all evening. Nick was hilarious and entertaining. I will plan to see him again when he returns to Boston.

  • Nick Offerman doesn't disappoint!

by Anonymous on 10/27/14Elliott Hall of Music - West LafayetteRating: 5 out of 5

I am a huge Parks and Rec's fan so I knew going into the show I would enjoy it and Ron Swanson did not prove this wrong!

  • Great show!

by KMadd1978 on 10/27/14Elliott Hall of Music - West LafayetteRating: 4 out of 5

Was not sure what to expect with the show. We bought tickets because we love his character on "Parks & Recreation." Humor was a little dirty which was fine for us. All in all it was a wonderful evening.

  • 2 hours of middle school sex humor for $50/pp

by senorwolf on 7/10/14DAR Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

At one point during the show, Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally brought a couple on-stage for their own half-baked version of the newlywed show, where both the guy and girl each get their own whiteboard and a dry erase marker. The rule: secretly write down your response to one a multiple choice question, and then reveal your answers to the audience. First question: "What sounds like a more appealing weekend plan to you: (A) going to the dog pound, adopting a poodle, and bringing it home; or (B) going to the dog pound, adopting a poodle, bringing it home, and having a lot of sex with it." Did you laugh? If so you might enjoy the show. For those who had enough of that humor from ages 12-16, it's an expensive way to waste 2 hours of your night on a poorly rehearsed "comedy" performance. And while other reviewers liked the songs, I disagreed -- you don't have to be Christian for a ditty about having a threesome with Jesus and "getting your anus blasted" in the process to be offensive and in terrible taste, regardless whether you are secular or religious (especially for a $50 ticket). Turning "Summer of 69" into a three-minute song about 69'ing isn't exactly the high mark of originality either. The worst part is that there are actually good comedians who won't get the same attendance or audience reaction because they weren't popular on a TV show (acting out a script they didn't write). I suppose we should all have collectively learned our lesson from Charlie Sheen's torpedo of truth - there's a reason those guys made it on TV shows and not in comedy clubs.

  • Nick funny, Megan not - hugely disappointing

by BoboDC on 6/25/14constitution hall - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

They tried, they failed. I didn't laugh. Nick is funny, the material was not. I was expecting stand up or polished material. I got rambling stories about nothing and endless crap about how much he loves her. I wish she wasn't there and it was just Nick. She's a good singer, but I think they appeal to different audiences.

  • Mediocre

    by dancinqt21 on 6/20/14DAR Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I was expecting stand-up. This was not it. Basically this was Megan and Nick talking about their life together from how they met until now. It seemed unrehearsed. I'm pretty sure they were just winging it. Also, I was really disappointed in the venue. They should had screens on the sides that played clips at one point but they should have had a close-up live feed of Megan and Nick. They just looked like blurs to me. I really liked their original duets though.

  • Hysterical

    by HalloweenGirl21 on 6/18/14DAR Constitution Hall - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Not recommended for the easily offended or the young, but my husband and I both enjoyed it. They were clearly having a good time and it spread through the audience and made it a fun event for all.
