Rating: 1 out of 5NHL Draft Party
by DaBomb on 6/24/12Nassau Coliseum - Long IslandI was very disappointed with THIS YEAR's draft party. First of all, a couple of years ago it was not as crowded which I guess is a good thing but the Islanders organization must respond to the number of people entering the facility and the shear number of people out on the main floor. It was packed!!! When we got there for the meet and greet with John Tavares, we were directed to different locations. We were given two different colored bands which no one was able to tell why we got two. We were told that JT wasn't even going to be there because he got stuck on the tarmac in Toronto. If he knew the NHL Draft was that day and he was greeting the season ticket holders then why wouldn't he have gotten there a day earlier if need be. Would he have done the same if it were a game? Why disappoint the main people buying the tickets?
Now we did get to meet Matt Moulson but when we got in no one knew where we were supposed to go to meet him. No signs, no direction, no nothing! We got a bracelet as were sent into the main arena with no information. We finally found it on our own behind a curtain in the corner of the building. Then we waited for 45 minutes on line before they let anyone enter. If I knew I would have to wait that long on line I would have enjoyed some of the events out on the floor first and came back later.
I was originally told that I can only have two people in my VIP list even though I have two season tickets. The person in front of me getting their orange bands got six bands. When I asked why I can only get two the guy said I would have to speak to my rep. I had a women over by the offices text my rep so I can ask him about it but he never called me! No shocker there!
Then I got up into the seats and TRIED to listen to what was being said on the screen but the sound was WAY TOO distorted from the speakers being used and the screen was not legible enough to read the names of the players being selected.
It was a complete disaster as far as I was concerned. I think next year I'll just stay at home and watch it from the comfort of my own couch!!!
