New York Rangers History
The Rangers, one of the "Original Six" NHL teams, were founded in 1926 by Tex Rickard. According to legend, the New York media nicknamed the team “Tex's Rangers,” a play on the famed law enforcers Texas Rangers.
The team has won four Stanley Cup Championships, the first of which came in only their second season (1928) and the most recent in 1994, beating Vancouver in Game 7 to break a 54-year drought and send Cup-starved fans into a frenzy.
The Rangers' 2017-2018 campaign broke a string of seven consecutive seasons in which the team reached the Playoffs — including the 2013-2014 campaign, which ended in a five-game series loss to the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup Final.
Among the Hall of Famers to don the Rangers sweater are Andy Bathgate, Eric Lindros, Phil Esposito, and Wayne Gretzky. Nine players have had their number retired by the team: Bathgate, Ed Giacomin, Rod Gilbert, Adam Graves, Harry Howell, Brian Leetch, Mark Messier, Jean Ratelle, and Mike Richter. Herb Brooks (1937-2003), who coached the Rangers from 1981-1985, also coached the U.S. Olympic hockey team to its "Miracle on Ice" victory over the Soviet Union and on to a gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, N.Y.

New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden
Located in the heart of Manhattan and named for President James Madison, Madison Square Garden opened in 1968 and is among the most-booked venues in the world. The arena, which sits atop Penn Station, is the oldest venue in the NHL. Considered “the world’s most famous arena,” MSG is also the home court for the New York Knicks.
The New York Rangers’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at KeyBank Center, when the Rangers face off against the Buffalo Sabres. The Rangers will also participate in the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series — hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — against the New York Islanders on February 18. First ever hockey game, really loved the fun around the intervals, made for a really good experience. However we only bought 1 drink each as it was far too expensive then really wanted to get a hoodie but @ $120, this is way out of line with UK Football merchandise Staff were amazing, venue fantastic, transport links really easy
This was my third visit to Madison Square Garden to watch a sporting event while in New York and the experience has been great every time. The layout of the seating is excellent, which means you get a great view of the action wherever you are in the arena and really feel you are part of the event. The organisation and crowd marshalling is first class and there are plenty plenty of facilities for all inside, from the merchandise stores to the food and drink outlets. Great game of hockey to top it all off, with a 2-0 win for NY. Can’t wait to visit NYC again to take in more hockey at MSG
The game was amazing. Rangers played their heart out and Igor made some amazing saves. The entertainment throughout was fantastic. Madison Square Garden is a great venue. Would recommend an NHL event here!
Rangers game great win over tampa. Issue seats sec 221 row 5 14 15 16. On the turn and very tight for grown men to sit in. Had to get up and leave,seats. Not happy with seats uncomfortable. Sat in this sec before no.issues in different seats.
Let’s see. Where to begin. Madison Square Garden, where I have attended many events, seems to have gotten a nice refresh. Great sight lines. Lots of high tech special effects. Other than that, I don’t see myself going back. Ticket prices are insane, concessions are extremely overpriced, and the actual seats are too tight.
I have been in NHL barns all over the country, and I highly recommend MSG to put on your bucket list. Good People (even though I wore my Avs jersey), Great Venue, Expensive Drinks

My phone died on the way to the game. I was panicked! Went to the ticket office- NO PROBLEM!! Great game too!! Vegas won!
The love the atmosphere it was great the people were happy before the game started. Then it was awful the Rangers played awful and the people weren't happy the people were yelling they wanted their money back I heard some people boo them. It is not cheap to see the Rangers players get paid a lot of money and that is what they show the people that have come to see them play.
Madison Square Garden is a very special venue and the event is a real show. The game is very dynamic and the production around it is amazing.

Fantastic time watching the New York Rangers again! Great entertainment at Maddison Square Gardens again. The game was great and the atmosphere, music and lights were amazing. Only down side is the cost to buy food, drinks and merchandise is quite expensive, but that won’t stop me returning for another game! Let’s Go Rangers
Sold out event....it felt like being with family and friends at MSG... I'm a life long Rangers fan and its a great house to celebrate hockey...one of the Original Six team.
Easy to purchase Tickets even from non-US countries. Tickets can be stored in Apple Wallet. Entrance was fast (when you are an early bird), friendly staff that helps when having questions. Great, awesome experience watching NHL games live in a fully booked Stadium. For sure not the last time!
Great show around the game, good atmosphere but a beer for 20 dollar😖. Going out was smood and subway transport is perfect.
Everything was just great. I am amazed how quickly 18,000 people can get in and out. We had seats is section 414 which was great with some die hard fans. We are definitely going again next time we are in NYC.
Sensational nights entertainment regardless if you are a sports fan or not. 100% entertainment from start to finish I would highly recommend to everyone to have the entertainment experience we had. Do yourself a favour and get there
This is my umpteenth time at the Garden. Everything is always fantastic. I'm notable. Exception would be the fact that I am almost 6 ft 6 in tall and section 224, row 12 simply did not have enough legroom whatsoever. I'm not sure how you fix this after the fact, but I shouldn't have to pay more because I was born so tall...
