New York Liberty History
The New York Liberty are one of three active founding franchises in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Liberty have made six WNBA Finals appearances, in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2023 and 2024, and topped the Eastern Conference seven times. In 2023, the team captured the in-season Commissioner's Cup behind a Finals MVP performance by Jonquel Jones, and later, Breanna Stewart became the first Liberty player to win the WNBA Most Valuable Player award. New York returned to the Commissioner’s Cup Final in 2024, but fell to the Minnesota Lynx. The two teams met again in the 2024 WNBA Finals, where the Liberty claimed their first title. Jones was named the series MVP, and after the season, Stewart was selected to the All-WNBA First Team while Jones and Sabrina Ionescu made the All-WNBA Second Team.

Game was good, Clark was inquired but that happens. Overall good sports experience, but Barclays Center is significantly inferior as a venue than MSG.
Barclays Center staff were awesome, helpful, informative, very friendly. Made us feel very welcome. The game was great and we were entertained every minute , loved Ellie and the dancers!!!
What an amazing atmosphere! Best WNBA experience! Still hearing the long New York LIBERTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! And BIG BIG ELLIE echoed by my kiddo! Players were AMAZING! We had only 1 game booked for our NY trip, we loved it that much that we attended two more games in our 9 day stay! Only down side for us that there weren’t any #20 Youth Medium jerseys for us to buy. (We ended up with a small, won’t fit her for long 😬). Back in Australia wishing we had of gone a bigger size!
With the exception of a few brief spurts of the organ please eliminate the music during play time. I found it to be distracting and annoying. Everything else at the event was great. I would like to but will not attend another game because of the music.
What a fun game to watch! So proud to have such a strong team.
Great atmosphere and much interaction with host and audience.
The game was fast paced and fun to watch. The crowd was so invested; the Liberty have a great fan base. The venue was easy to get in and out of and concession prices are in line with other sports venues, though I wish they were a few dollars cheaper (ex. White Claw is $15!)
First time at a WNBA game and I was blown away. From the moment I entered the doors I felt the electric atmosphere. The ladies did not disappoint. They played an excellent game. They did not fall apart went they were down, they dug deep and got the win. The arena was amazing. The place was rocking from the pregame until the final whistle. The music and performances kept me engaged the entire time. Must give honorable mention to Elle. What an entertainer. The murals out front of the arena is an excellent feature. Very heartwarming
Great game. Love love the Liberty. We had a wonderful time at the fame. The food was horrible and expensive and the drinks is very expensive.
I’ve gone to the Barclays Center twice in one month, and the food was subpar. The chicken fingers and fries were served room temperature and had limited sauce options. The hot dog and pretzel combo also served room temperature and the option to add cheese was unavailable. For a popular venue, they can be improved.
I was shocked that it was so difficult to purchase one ticket. I wanted to sit closer to the action. But all I could find was a si glad ticket in nose bleed section. And I’m an old dude. The interface is cumbersome to use. When you click a seat to get details. Found it hard to get that seat out of cart. Periodically it would just refresh page and id start at beginning. When I’d zoom in. It would randomly zoom out. And I hated that the top headline of the web page was fixed. I wanted to be able to scroll down. And view the venue images larger. But with 1/3 of the screen taken up by fixed header. Made it difficult.
The game was amazing. Had a great time with family and a fantastic time watching the entertainment. The women’s game was actually better than the Brooklyn next men games .
Good experience, exciting game, and I love the Barclays Center as a very modern venue. But: Beverage prices are crazy. And the sound system is way too loud and aimed at the fun, pushing the basketball players into the background, which is a pity!
Very detailed and easy to navigate with one two three steps
I am not sure if the team really took this as a serious game. We paid our money to see our Liberty play. I understand winning does not happen all the time but it wasn't until #0 came on the court. My area Section One finally got excited even Tho we lost. LET"S GO LIBERTY!!!!!!
It was Great and looking forward to the next game.
The Liberty give fans a fun team, with nonstop entertainment even during timeouts and halftime. The sight lines in the lower bowl at Barclays are excellent and you feel close to the action. Love Liberty games and highly recommend them for folks in town.
We had such a great time! Barclays is well run and very clean. The players for both teams did a great job! And Ellie... totally makes your experience. I love seeing all of the little girls yelling out the players names and being acknowledged. It is a great time all around.
Great evening with thorough security, crowd with a joyful spirit, excellent DJ, l was thankful to be given a chair to wait on until attendees were let in, due to my back issue
