New York Knicks History
The Knicks were established in 1946 and were one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America, which became the NBA after merging with the National Basketball League in 1949. The Knicks and Boston Celtics are the only two original NBA teams still located in their original cities.
The Knicks saw early success, advancing to the NBA Finals in three consecutive years from 1950 to 1953. They lost all three series, twice to the Minneapolis Lakers and once to the Rochester Royals. The franchise’s next successful era began in the late '60s, under the tutelage of head coach Red Holzman. They won 54 games in Holzman's first full season as head coach in the 1968–69 season, then improved to 60 wins the following year. The Knicks won their first NBA Championship in 1970, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games. Holzman won Coach of the Year, while center Willis Reed won NBA MVP and Finals MVP.
Holzman and Reed led the Knicks back to the finals in two of the next three seasons, facing the Lakers both times. They split those two series, winning their second championship in the 1972–73 season.
The Knicks did not experience success again until the '90s, when future Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing led them back to the NBA Finals in 1993–94 and 1998–99. They lost both series, first in seven games to the Houston Rockets, then in five games to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks traded for star Carmelo Anthony from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He proved to be an elite scorer, but team success eluded the Knicks. They made it to the playoffs three times in Anthony's seven-year tenure with the team, winning one series in 2013.
The Knicks reached the playoffs once again during the 2020–21 season, reinvigorated by power forward Julius Randle, who was awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player distinction in 2021, and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2023 with the additional firepower of newly-acquired point guard Jalen Brunson. The Knicks most recently reached the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2025 NBA playoffs, marking their first appearance in the conference finals since the 1999-2000 season.

Absolutely an amazing experience, do easy to buy the tickets and to use them when we got to the venues
we enjoy the game, and the T-SHIRT although we did not get one, maybe next time. Celebrities, former players, dance, singing the whole works. Thank you.
Enjoyed the show, enjoyed the vibe... would do it again when I'll be back.
Took our 10 year old grandson for his birthday to NY and the most important thing he wanted to do was go to a Knicks game. He loved every minute of the game. It was all that he hoped it would be.
Must go to everyone that loves NBA and a good entertainment show.
A lot of animations beetween each break. Very funny and interesting experience.
Wow what a night, a great atmosphere, a great view, a great game. All staff were helpful and friendly, kids loved it, I loved it
Great atmosphere, good game. Animations were perfect.
We travelled from Ireland for this game and we’re not disappointed. The venue was easy to access, clean and well laid out. All of the food concessions had really good quality choice offerings and the staff were so friendly. As for the game, the whole vibe was amazing, the DJ, t shirt toss and half time acts were all what we have seen in tv and we’re so glad to be able to experience first hand.
1st time in NYC. Planned to see a NBA game ever. Not disappointed by what I see. Splendid show and the Knicks won the game against Utah
This was our first basketball game during our 1st trip to New York and MSG. Game was exciting but the seats were extremely small and no room to breathe which was disappointing to say the least for the high price we paid for the tickets. The refreshments were very very expensive. Staff at the venue were really helpful as we didn’t know what to expect or where to go. Overall we were glad we did it as it was a new experience. Would recommend
It was sososososososososososososososososososososososososo Fantastic! have a good day!
Great night at the Basketball in NYC . Just be careful buying the tickets from the US Ticketmaster site . You cannot get the tickets in the UK APP . Download the US Ticketmaster App when you arrive then go to your email to get the tickets
Whilst we were in NYC we thought we would see a basketball game and I wasn’t disappointed the atmosphere was great we had a seat on 301 row 1 but this was a lounge and only had two rows and the seats were amazing very reasonably priced. The only negative was the cost of drinks and food but I think you expect to overpay at sporting games ! So glad we did it my son was very jealous !
These were absolutely the worst seats I have ever had. Against the wall. Had another tv bc couldn’t even see the jumbotron
very good evening of wonder for the adults and for the children but it would be nicer if the children had been able to have a small souvenir (t-shirt sent to the public but never to section 7...) or an autograph from players
great game venue and atmosphere! we use ticket master for safe, secure tickets, even abroad
As long as the Knicks win the happier I am and I’m glad that this team is in playoff contention and Jalen Brunson is a immediate impact that is helping us and he will get this team to playoffs and let’s see what happens in the playoffs
Great show, easy entry and exit, drink/grub very very expensive though
