New Jersey Devils History
The New Jersey Devils were born in 1982, the third incarnation of a franchise that began as the Kansas City Scouts (1974-76) before spending six years in Denver as the Colorado Rockies. The arrival of president/general manager Lou Lamoriello in 1987 started the franchise's rise to the NHL elite. The Devils made the playoffs in 21 of the next 24 seasons, including five trips to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Devils made it as far as the conference finals in the 1987-1988 and 1993-1994 seasons, preparing them for their historic run the following year in which they won their first Stanley Cup Championship, sweeping the Detroit Red Wings.
The Devils returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2000, dispatching the Dallas Stars in six games on an iconic double-overtime Cup-clinching goal by Jason Arnott. The next season, as the best offensive team in the NHL, they returned to the Final.
The Devils' stretch of dominance was far from over, though. They won their third Stanley Cup Championship in 2003, spoiling the Anaheim Ducks’ first-ever playoff run with a Game 7 shutout orchestrated by Martin Brodeur. To date, the club has won three Stanley Cup Championships and five Eastern Conference Championships.
In 2022, the Devils returned to the second round of the playoffs — their first time since 2011. Led by young stars Jack Hughes and Nico Hischer, the Devils defeated their long-time rivals the New York Rangers in the first round, before losing their next series to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Before Devils games, fans can gather at bars and restaurants at Championship Plaza near the arena.
The New Jersey Devils’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at home as the Devils face off against the Detroit Red Wings. The Devils will also participate in the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series — hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — against the Philadelphia Flyers on February 17. They play their final game of the regular season at home against Metropolitan Division competitors the New York Islanders. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:

This was my 1st hockey game and i lovef it. Great seats with a fantastic view
Always great experience at Prudential Center..Love te "Rock" and Devils! Period.
A lifetime experience. The NJ Devils were awesome!!
I remember taking a family of 4 to a few playoff games. Now, it’s 1 game for 2 people. Thank you Ticketmaster and Live Nation for benefitting the public with lower prices. I’m sure the CEO, Michael Rapino, can attend since he just “earned” $139MM. If there was ever a person deserving of a terminal cancer diagnosis…
My daughter is a major Devils and Jack Hughes fan so I purchased tickets to game 5 for her birthday. We got there early to watch the Devils warmup in hopes that she could maybe get a puck, but she wasn’t a lucky recipient. The game was awesome and the Prudential Center staff was very courteous. She is greatful for the experience and will be a forever memory.
Seating not like on map. Seat was not on edge. Seating map needs improvement.
The Devils and fans not only invited us into their home but they gave us the run of the place. They even left early to give us more room to celebrate. Highly recommended!
Great seats at face value price. Awesome view of the game!
As a true Canadian, I’ve always loved hockey and lived at the rink two communities away from my hometown. I never played hockey and that will always be a regret of mine but I absolutely loved to skate and never missed an opportunity to do so. I attended the game with my dad and significant other and it was an experience of a lifetime. My father is a huge Dawson Mercer fan as he is a proud Newfoundlander and delighted that Mercer is doing so well in the NHL. My father was shown on tv during the game waving his Newfoundland flag and my siblings seen it as they were watching from home. Mercer scored his first NHL hat trick and the stadium was on fire, I’ll cherish that experience with my father forever. I only hope that we can attend another Devils game in the future. One last thing, when Mercer seen the NL flag during warm up and gave me that little smile, it was heart warming as I can only imagine what it must be like to be away from home and doing what you love and seeing a Newfoundland fan come all that way to cheer you on. I think we were his lucky charms ☘️ Good luck to Mercer and the rest of the NJ Devils as we’ll be cheering from home!
I had transfered my wife's ticket to her cell phone, and when she went to show the guard the ticket, it was gone from her phone. Never transferred. So they took us downstairs and we had to buy another ticket and fortunately there was another seat next to her new one, so we got to sit together. Then the Devils lost 4-1.
good game even tho they lost. doesn’t matter cus i love the devils either way
Good game but the whole complection changed after NJ had their 2nd goal called back for interference. It must have deflated the team b/c after that TB took over and took over control of the game. 4 - 1 fin
It was good it was my first time going to Devils Game this year I really enjoy it
7-0 Devils Vs Flyers. Literally the best hockey game I've ever seen 🙂🙂🙂 Buzzing all the way home
Enjoyed our experience at the Rock in Newark. Parking, Restaurants, and seats for Kings/Devils. Lots of energy in arenaand big win at the ot. Great time
Yelling “you suck” at the other team, after your team scores a goal, is really so dumb.
Good time had by all. Seats were easy to find. Walk from train station was a little sketchy with a few interactions with some homeless folks.
What a great venue! The Devil's fans are terrific. The atmosphere is electric and contagious. We sat in the first row by the glass. Loved when the players slammed into the boards. It was fun watching the enthusiastic fans on the jumbotron. A buffet was included. It was delicious and included a complete variety of food. It was pricy to sit there but worth every penny as a memory with my 13 year old grandson!! Great job Devils.
Been a fan since 82 all while living New York. Been a little disappointed in the team over the last few years. But I definitely see potential in this newer team especially with Vitek who reminds me of a younger Brodeur.
The game was great, the seats fantastic. Just way too much extra stimulus. Why the constant loud music? Why the silly games? Are the Devils afraid we might talk to each other? Are they afraid we will think about what we are seeing? Do they think the game is so boring we might not come back? All the extras took away from tight checking, exciting game. Thank goodness for the quality of the game or I would say the experience was not worth the time, effort, and money to attend.
