New Jersey Devils History

The New Jersey Devils were born in 1982, the third incarnation of a franchise that began as the Kansas City Scouts (1974-76) before spending six years in Denver as the Colorado Rockies. The arrival of president/general manager Lou Lamoriello in 1987 started the franchise's rise to the NHL elite. The Devils made the playoffs in 21 of the next 24 seasons, including five trips to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Devils made it as far as the conference finals in the 1987-1988 and 1993-1994 seasons, preparing them for their historic run the following year in which they won their first Stanley Cup Championship, sweeping the Detroit Red Wings.

The Devils returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2000, dispatching the Dallas Stars in six games on an iconic double-overtime Cup-clinching goal by Jason Arnott. The next season, as the best offensive team in the NHL, they returned to the Final.

The Devils' stretch of dominance was far from over, though. They won their third Stanley Cup Championship in 2003, spoiling the Anaheim Ducks’ first-ever playoff run with a Game 7 shutout orchestrated by Martin Brodeur. To date, the club has won three Stanley Cup Championships and five Eastern Conference Championships.

In 2022, the Devils returned to the second round of the playoffs—their first time since 2011. Led by young stars Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, the Devils defeated their long-time rivals the New York Rangers in the first round, before losing their next series to the Carolina Hurricanes.

  • NJ Devils for life

by LLorax on 11/28/16Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

I got these tickets via the NHL app as a promotion and I loved the experience. I took my girlfriend and spent the day after Thanksgiving at the Prudential Center. Though we lost, the game was good and the seats were fantastic. I was in section 12 row 8. I would not normally spend 150 buck a ticket as it is quite pricey but this tickets were a blessing. Thank NHL app

I have NEVER had such great seats before (Row 5!) right behind the boards. It was exciting and fun. The action just never stops which is why I LOVE hockey. I had never been to the Prudential before and it was an easy ride and I could park so close to the arena. I can't wait to go again....which I will be on Dec. 6th! Yay!

Overall I am really glad that I picked these seats because they were great seats. Great quality and would definitely recommend to anyone! Also these seats are right behind the goal post and where the Devils warmup 2 out of the 3 periods.

  • Devils vs Sabres on Sat. Nov. 12th, 2016

There was a very long line for Will Call. We missed the first 10 minutes of the hockey game. It would be best if users could print out the tickets themselves beforehand. I will use Stub Hub in the future.

  • Devils Open Practice

by Gldubya on 11/13/16Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

Fun day for the kids. Surprised the Devils didn't give anything out though as a memento for the day. Could have been slightly more fan interactive.

  • Devils Open Practice

by McWhorterFan on 11/13/16Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 4 out of 5

The Devils new management has changed things, including opening up Practices and Social Media to the Fans. It's not nearly as exciting as a Game, but it's worthwhile seeing what it takes to be an NHL Player.

Had a great experience at THE ROCK watching the Devils defeat the Hurricanes. New management has done an excellent job with the entire game experience. Looking forward to seeing many more games this season and into the playoffs!

The game was great, did not need to print tickets. Seats were comfy. Parking was easy, venue was great. Beers were pretty expensive but that's a given these days.

  • Devils game awesome!!

by JJDUBBYA on 11/11/16Prudential Center - NewarkRating: 5 out of 5

Great seats, great view, really nice crowd, family fun atmosphere. Felt safe taking my 14 year old daughter to her first hockey game. She enjoyed the fast action and happy to listen to her generations music during the breaks. Had fun watching the cameraman capturing people in the stands. Davila won in an overtime shootout!
