New England Patriots History
Originally known as the Boston Patriots, the New England Patriots were the eighth and final franchise to join the American Football League in 1959. After joining the NFL during the 1970 AFL/NFL merger, they changed their name and moved to Foxborough in 1971.
Producing some of the league's greatest players — from AFL MVPs Gino Cappelletti and Jim Nance, to future Pro Football Hall of Famers John Hannah, Mike Haynes and Andre Tippett — the Patriots have fielded more than a few successful teams. The 1978 team won 11 games while setting a then-NFL rushing record that stood for 40-plus years with 3,165 yards. That year, the team's 11 wins tied the franchise record and earned the Patriots their second division title in team history and an opportunity to host their first home playoff game.
On Jan. 21, 1994, Kraft bought the Patriots from St. Louis native James Orthwein, keeping the franchise in New England. The Patriots went to the playoffs four out of the next five seasons and have become a modern-era dynasty, recording more than 20 seasons with at least 10 wins since Kraft purchased the team. Under the leadership of quarterback Tom Brady and Head Coach Bill Belichick, the Patriots dominated the division from 2001 to 2018, making nine Super Bowl appearances and winning six championships.
The Patriots are currently tied with the Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins in the NFL with six. The Patriots hold the NFL record for the most Super Bowl appearances with 11.

The New England Patriots have made it to the Super Bowl 11 times, holding the NFL record for the most appearances in the championship game. They have six Super Bowl titles to their name — Super Bowl XXXVI (2002), XXXVIII (2004), XXXIX: (2005), XLIX (2015), LI (2017), and LIII (2019) — and are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most victories in NFL history.

This is the best stadium in the NFL. Hands down! PERFECT sight lines and very comfortable.
This stadium is so great! I would recommend staying at the Renassaince Hotel on Patriot Place! It is very very nice!! We stayed on the 5th floor and had the Regency lounge! Very fun! The seats we had were amazing! The Patriots on the sidelines with the guns kept scaring the crap out of me when they scored the guys shot off their guns!
Great game! Next time I'd spend extra on better seats. Our seats were too high and we were sitting in almost verticle position.
I gave these tickets as a gift to my parents, and they had a fantastic time. They were impressed by the seats!
I thought I'd regret the two and a half hour drive after falling behind 21-0 in the first quarter but the comback changed all that. Never leave early when the Patriots are playing!
Started off the holiday weekend with great seats, wonderful early fall evening and my favorite team (Patriots). What more could you ask for -- oh yeah, we won too!!!! The game was awesome. Go Pats.
Got very nervous during the first 7 minutes when the Giants made 3 touchdowns, but as usual, the Patriots came back to win the game! Only thing I didn't like about the stadium was the price of a beer, $7.50!!!
If you shut the T.V. off after the 1st quarter well then you missed an amazing 2nd half.. touchdowns and interceptions helped the PATS pull this one off...Pre-Season or Regular season.. its the FANS that add to the success of this team!
This was the first game for both me and my fiancee. We had an amazing time. It was so much fun. The seats were great. I would definately buy tickets through Ticketmaster again.
I am a huge Patriots fan but hailing from Maryland doesn't help that cause much at all. I've never had a chance to make the trip to Gillette Stadium but I finally got the time off, got myself an awesome front row seat, and had a blast!! It was great being surrounded by all the local fans and chatting with them and having a few laughs!! It was even more great because the Patriots wrapped up their preseason by defeating the Giants!!
awesome seats on 30 yard line. thought the game was going to be a blow out after the first quarter but pats came back.
The weather was great; so was the food and drink. The game started off badly but in the end the best team won.
Knew game would not be featuring "headliners" but enjoyed seeing the "future". After all they did still win, no major injuries to anyone and gave us a good show for the most part.Could have done without the come-from-behind but had a good time in great weather. The stadium looks great and I'm looking forward to regular season games with Brady and Co. Very happy for Bruschi and his family but sorry for pro sports. One of the best is retired but will hopefully will be given the opportunity to be a member of the team somehow, they need him as a mentor and positive role model that he already has shown himself to be. His personal and professional code needs to be rewarded. We need more of the same and for some people to step up to fill in on defense and the class act in the locker room and public.. Good Luck Tedy!!!!
We had awesome seats! There is too much alcohol consumption and the parking is ridiculously expensive and far away. The game was good though. Pats crushed the Giants.
great arena. lots of fun, food, drink, shopping and FOOTBALL!
I was a little worried after NY scored. I noticed that the Pats were not playing any of the fantastic seasoned players. Bill had faith in the depth of the team - and the faith came through. It gave our backup players the confidence and WE WON!!!!!
The game started with the Patriots down 21 to 7. They battled their way back with the final score: Patriots 38, Giants 27. A really great and exciting game for a preseason game. Go see a future hall of famer in Tom Brady. He's top-notch!
Plenty of bathrooms inside and out, although not enough trash cans. Seats are great, people are very nice and helpful. There is an express line to get in to the game. 4 pound buckets of wings!!!
We are on the waiting list for season tickets. We took the kids. We arrived at 5:30PM and couldn't get into a restaurant: They were all packed. So we went into the stadium early, and got food at the BBQ Blitz stand up near section 324. Pulled pork and Smoked Chicken sandwiches. They said we were their first customers of the day. We took the food to our seats and enjoyed a far less expensive but very good meal while watching the teams warm up, listening to the music, and watching the sun set. Just a great family moment. The kids are 7 and 10 so we left a minute before half time when the Pats started coming alive.
This was a really fun game to watch, as both the offense and defense, after a dismal start, really pulled it together and played well. Our only complaint was that, for a preseason game, the ticket and parking prices should've been less.
