NEW EDITION IN CONCERT:
Style and charisma never go out of fashion, and legendary R&B group New Edition is a case in point. Paving the way for the boy band movement of the '80s and '90s with their meticulously coordinated image and tight vocal interplay, Bobby Brown and company continue to be the stuff of teen dreams, bringing audiences to their feet for a trip down memory lane at their dazzling live shows. Reunited (and it feels so good, ) the band's six original members hit the road in 2014 for a much-anticipated tour, treating fans to their finely-tailored threads and hits like "Candy Girl" and "Cool It Down."
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Boston in 1978, New Edition hit the big time with their 1983 debut album Candy Girl, landing three singles on the charts and becoming an overnight sensation with their boyish charm and carefully crafted image. Their self-titled 1984 sophomore album was an even bigger hit, topping the R&B chart on the strength of era classics like "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man." The band's success in the mid-'80s was so considerable that it launched Bobby Brown to solo career stardom, with several other members finding success as spinoff group Bell Biv DeVoe in the '90s. Over the years New Edition has released seven studio albums, weathering hiatuses and reunions, but have rarely been joined by Brown in concert, making his presence on their 2014 tour all the more special.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"New Edition was on last and I had been waiting all day. They did not disappoint. It was so good seeing them live. They looked great and performed songs from each phase of their careers."
"It was the best concert ever. They still look the same and they still could move. It was just like when i was younger and I saw them. I felt like a teenager."
"I knew this was going to be good and it truly was!!! New Edition has never let me down. Back in the day they were terrific and they still are. They are true entertainers!"
I have been a fan since I was young. They are all very good singers.
I hope they are planning to come home. Last time We had to go to Providence Rhode Island to see them and the crowd was mostly Boston. (Massachusetts).
I've been a fan since I was 10 years old. They are my all time favorite group! I have been blessed to see NE too many times to count. Their music is the best & never gets old. Seeing them each time is like the first for me. They are smooth, silky, electric and their voices are like butter. NE4LYFE♡
I’m so upset they are not coming to Tampa Florida I have seen them perform in Tampa for the last 20 years. I had to go way out to Las Vegas Back in February. So upset
Every NEW EDITION Concert I have been to from Charlotte to the Las Vegas Residency has been nothing less than PHENOMENAL....
I've seen NE in concert as well as BBD, JG solo and Bobby solo several times before. This was by far the best performance I've seen yet! Love love love the boys from Beantown and they didn't disappoint, other than I wish they would have sang some more of their lesser hits but were still releases. Anything Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis did, you know the songs! Great to see Bobby making a strong comeback. Johnny had a little too much on it, if you know what I mean sometimes. Ralph and Ricky were like they were 30 years ago. Ronnie is still the best dancer. Just a great group of talented crooners doing what they love to do-entertaining us. They will only get better with time, so I pray that if they are reading these reviews they know what they have to do-get out there again in 2025 and 2026 and keep it going, get back in the studio and give us fans what we want...a new album with great songs written by/from Brian Michael Cox, Babyface, Jam & Lewis, Ne-Yo and more with this tour on top of that....there would be nothing stopping them being at the top of the charts again! I believe their best version of the adult NE is yet to come!
I grew up with New Editions! I love their music and dance moves. My husband and I were like two teenagers at this concert, singing and dancing. Loved it. We went to see them in Ohio.
Can yall please come back to Birmingham, that concert was awesome and my husband is still talking about it. I surprised him the Christmas before the concert, and it's soo hard to beat that. I've done bought him a Bobby Brown jacket , he loves. A shirt. But , if I could surprise him one more time to see y'all again, Lord, he would never stop talking about it lol. PLEASE COME BACK TO BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA❤️❤️❤️Your next to your biggest fan lol.
I have seen different members of New Edition in the past when they were touring separately and enjoyed them. This was a great night with all six members present and hit with doses of nostalgia I didn't know I was missing. Bobby was joyful, BBD was great, Ralph was exactly as I remembered so that was a blast. Johnny played his part and still sounds amazing but didn't resonate with me the same way he used to. That's totally a me situation because the audience LOVED them some Johnny. I had a blast. Show was great. And we got a bonus of seeing Kurtis Blow on stage briefly. If you get a chance to see them go for it.
I attend a lot of shows and this the best one I’ve seen……ever! Loved it from beginning to end.
