We all know how brilliant Gaiman is. We all know that his reading/narrating voice is luscious. What I didn’t expect were two FULL short stories and poems and so much Gaimanesque commentary on writing and dreaming and the state of the universe.
Neil is funny, informative, and just plain entertaining.
It was a wonderful way to spend a night. Stories and readings were masterfully delivered. Seating arrangement gets you close to the action but was way too hot.
Neil was incredible. Funny, witty, relatable, and his way with words is amazing. The event started 40 minutes late, though, because the venue seemed unprepared and it took an eternity to get everyone's tickets sorted.
We left before it even started! I don't know why he wasn't on stage but no one at the venue made an announcement. I've never had that happen and was really disappointed.
Neil spoke, answered questions, and read a variety of his written work while sharing relevant anecdotes. Very impressed with how his personal relating was in synch with his writer’s voice. The large audience was held in engaged wonder and sometimes participated in the over two hours of sharing. Excellent!
I cannot express how wonderful the night was! It truly was a magical and memorable experience!
This show was everything I wanted from my favorite author. He read several stories of his, answered audience questions, and shared some stories from his personal life. I hope he comes back again.
This is the first time I personally have been to this kind of an author event, and I can’t imagine doing this in any kind of larger setting. The venue was just right to get the feeling that everybody had a great seat and got to enjoy the depth of what was being discussed and read. A highly enjoyable night, I do expect we will be back for other events again.
