    Rockin'

    by J. S. on 2/26/19Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

This is the best line up of Journey that I have ever seen. They played all the hits, old and new!

    Neal Schon's Journey Through Time

by J.Rockin Randy on 2/26/19Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

A super show and one of the SF area's best venues, The Fox Theater in Oakland. Gregg Rolie and deen Castronova were on fire with Neal and bassist Todd Jensen and key/guitar side stager Chris Collins. Deen cover Steve Smith and Steve Perry simultaneously, WOW!

Best concert in last 5 years

by Billy B on 2/26/19Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Journey was awesome; best concert I've seen in 5 years. Set list was amazing; a blend of a couple Santana songs, original journey (Look into the Future, Of a Lifetime) and Journey's more popular late 70's hits. It truly was a Journey through time.

    Incredible!!!

by purbanik on 4/6/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

Whoa, a chance to hear one of the best rock guitarists in the business. I had never seen anyone's fingers move so fast on a guitar. The music was incredible... sound levels perfect for the size of the venue. While some expected some "Journey" songs, I didn't expect to hear any. I got exactly what I expected... an night of truly great rock guitar playing.

    Neal needs some melodys

by JRNYWPERRY on 4/1/10House of Blues Sunset Strip - Hollywood

4 things 1-Neal you need more promotion!!!!!!! only like 100 people at house of blues?? 2-I know you are trying to stay away from journey sounding music while you work on side projects but at least include some songs from the schon and hammer era and maybe even some journey tunes with no singer,, 3-Your lead singer BLOWS! 4-Your son ROCKS!

Neal Schon Concert House of Blues

by Miketheone on 4/1/10House of Blues Sunset Strip - Hollywood

It was really great to see and hear Neal and his band play again as i have not seen him live since like 1981. The show was interestingly put together in that it had a great mix of material with some Led Zep and a few other pieces thrown in etc. Also i was happy to see some young people in the band as it brought a lot of youth and new life into it that made it a lot of fun. Who are these kids? They sure have a lot of juice! As for Neal! He still has it! No dinosaurs there by golly. Top technical as always with lots of power and energy. How does keep it alive?? One of the great unsolved mysteries of the universe. May it never be solved. Also there was a great mix of young and old at this show. This shows that maybe rock isnt dead afterall and niether are we! As there is so much unitelligent noise out there these days maybe a revival of the real rock and roll can happen with lots of new youth to breath in some new life into all of us and save form the musical rebellion that has been going for too long now. Go for it Neal, Save us all!

    The Piranha Blues Tour

by jmcslammer on 3/30/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

I'll be honest, I do not own any Neal Schon solo albums and my HSAS cassette was eaten a quarter century ago. I've seen Journey eight times and have always loved their show. What's obvious is that is NEAL's band and he's awesome. I knew this wasn't a journey show and I was surprised they even played three Journey songs. I went in expecting something in the Eric johnson vein, as I've only heard a couple instrumentals from his solo albums, plus the instrumentals from TIME. I didn't even know there would be a singer. This was a blues-rock show and, if you are a real Neal fan and know his solo material, you will probably not be disappointed. Of the 20 songs, 7 are from Piranha Blues and 4 are from HSAS. The band is tight and features a powerhouse rhythm section. Prairie Prince is showing some heavy mileage but he still lays the lumber. Journeyman Marco Mendoza is rock solid on bass and spices things up with some vocals and "other" things (don't want to spoil the whole show for you). MIles Schon is pretty good on guitar (the apple doesn't fall far from the tree). John Varn is a good, young keyboardist but the hair flips were excessive. I recommend he cut the hair and let the music do the talking - there weren't any giddy girlies in this audience. Keith St John on vocals...well, my wife and I agreed he is a very talented dork. When weu closed our eyes, he sounded like he belongs with the heavy-weights on stage. When opened opened our eyes, though, he just made us laugh. He does the Plant / Coverdale sound well but he sounded a bit light-weight on the Sammy stuff. Overall, the show was good and the band was certainly tight. The problem for me was we went in looking for "what directions this rock icon would explore outside the confines of Journey" or "what surpise guests would show up for the hometown show for Neal (God knows the local music community pops in at the Fillmore from time to time)". What we got was "let's crack open some brews and crank up som rock & roll - rhythm & blues". My apologies to you Piranha Blues fans - JMc

    Meat and Potatoes

by Bananaman12345 on 3/29/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

Although I Am a fan of Journey and Neal's guitar work, the show was bland. His son opened and played in his father's band, as did the keyboard player. The keyboard player was an excellent player, but came off as a goofball, hair teasing, wanna be rockstar. Neil's son's set was acutally the star of the show. It was fun, inspired and light. Nice. But Neal's band was a yawner. Bland songs, poser singer, keyboard and bass players. Very distracting and weird! Couldn't really hear his guitar over the schmaltz. Overall, a boring show. Loved seeing Journey last fall!!

    Neal rocked the Fillmore..

by TipsterCal on 3/29/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

what a great show.. Neal and his band really put on an entertaining show. Prairie Prince can still bring it.. I enjoyed the vocals by the lead singer and very surprised by Marco Mendoza's voice talent as well. Miles will one day carry the torch when his dad is ready to hand it over.. just ain't happening too soon tho'...

Neal Schon: The most underated guitar player

by SirParD on 3/29/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

Wow! It was great to see Neal let go and play guitar! The only Journey songs he played were from the early albums (Yay!)... He also played songs from Pirahna Blues and HSAS... He also played "Proud Papa" as he traded solos with his son, Miles. That was great to see! Rock on, Neal!!!

    Goose Bumps!!!

by Lucette on 3/28/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

Best show that I have seen in years. I have watched this group together twice now and if they performed within reasonable driving distance, I would go watch them a third time. Neal is out of this world and Marco Mendoza gave me goose bumps. I will be a forever fan of Marco Mendoza. Kieths voice was explosive and will definitely be looking to purchase his music Miles and John also, amazing talent. Loved every second of it!!

by strongbow on 3/28/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

Neal and Miles Schon were just electric together. The solo by Miles was just what the solo doctor ordered. The base player was very good,a dark horse in the start of the show.Miles will make the big time the way he is going.Great show all around, nice going lads

    Neal Schon

by LMW55 on 3/28/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

It was awesome to see Neal play with his son, Miles. It was like they were speaking the same language as they jammed together. Mutual respect and awe was so apparent! This is not the usual concert I would choose to attend but a group of us that went to high school with Neal got together and it was so great to see him and hear him play again. It was amazing!!

    Disappointing

by Cynatra on 3/28/10The Fillmore - San Francisco

I was expecting to see Neal express his individuality as in playing more of his OWN music. Less than 50% of the show were his songs and it seemed like more of a bar band than a concert. When he did play his songs, great! He is so talented and so is HIS music I wish he would have played more of that which showcases this talent ie. Beyond the Thunder, Electric World, I on U.
