2011 NCAA Div. I Men's Ice Hockey NE Regional - NH

by NCAAHockeyFan on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

I really enjoy collegiate hockey, especially the regional tournaments, but why do they have to play the final game so late the second day? In Manchester, NH the NE Regional final was played at 8pm Sunday night. These are college kids...they can play the final game in the middle of the afternoon. My only other complaint would be the arbitrary decision about leaving between games on the 1st day of play. In Albany, NY you're allowed to leave between the games whereas in Manchester you can't. Why?

    Terrible view

by ticketmaste1sucks on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

Section 111, row c, seats 8-9. You could only see 2/3rds of the rink clearly. We moved to section 215.

    Concessions Disappointing

by chris6971 on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

The hockey was fine, but the concessions left a lot to be desired, especially for such a long event. When I went for dinner between games Friday night, there were no Chicken SAndwiches left, so we got warmish cheezeburgers. Had to go to three differrent counters to find a ketchup container that had some in it. Peanusts were stale.

    NCAA Northeast hockey regionals

by eishke on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

Manchester did an exceptional job hosting this event and the NCAA should have it here every year as the the attendance was as good or better than the other 3 venues.

Great chance to see young hockey talent laying it all on the line to reach the next level! Wished the East Teams could have done better, but ready to head out to Minnesota to see the Frozen 4!

    NCAA Hockey a great event

by Kevin7 on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

Great event the games were great and the venue was wonderful. The seats I had were aweful, they were right behind the bench and the hockey sticks. We moved but did have some issues being moved around because others had tickets.

    2011 NCAA Hockey Regional

by gmangman on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

Great venue, Great Event! Just wish the NCAA wuold get away from selling the tickets as a package! Three games, two on Saturday as a package understandably, but if your team loses and or you simply can't commtt to both the saturday and Sunday game they shoudl sell single game tickets. They eventually did but not until Friday afternoon the day before the event.

    Disappointing Venue

by tonglo on 3/29/11Verizon Wireless Arena - Manchester - Manchester

Its Summer and you're working at your desk job. Unfortunately, you have to work with the air conditioner blasting cold air on your back. Sound familiar? Well, this is how I felt at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. I'm not a wimp, I'm a New Englander but this was by far the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had at an arena. Cold air from above was blowing in my face all night. It was so bad that I couldn't wait until a period ended so I could take a break near the concession stands. I've been to hockey games all over New England and that includes TD Garden, Conte Forum, Agganis Arena, DCU Center, etc. I have never experienced anything like this and will never attend an event at this arena again. Told my friends and peers about this issue. If I want this kind of experience, I'll just go to work on a hot Summer day!

Small size of the arena allows for the noise to get pretty loud.

The event was great and very well run. The only improvement would be can someone please tell the arena announcer to turn down the volume; not of the music or the video boards - him, his voice. He shouted non-stop into the microphone. And it did not just annoy me, others around me commented on it. In the hallway I heard someone say he was taking a break from the announcer. It is eneough to probably make my wife skip the next event there. He has a microphone......yet he still screamed into it.......

Plan on purchasing more tickets next year...on the glass nexy year. BEST hockey I have ever watched, no fighting just hard play hockey. Was a little disapointed that no beer was sold..... as I sell it at Danbury and would have been nice to sit and sip a beer for a change.

Great event and well run. Should be allowed by leave in between the games! Food that was available was pretty bad and very pricey. Horrible officiating.

    NCAA East Regional Frozen 4

by THP58 on 3/27/11Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard - Bridgeport

The games were very competitive and overall great. The arena wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst either. Missing a center-ice scoreboard for replays, NCAA messages, etc was a big minus. The arena is tough to get around in, especially if you are unlucky to have to sit behind the goal. The Concession stands are out in the main concourse, which means you have to take an elevator/stairs, down and walk around. Going from one end to the other is a 15 minute trek. Some of the college "atmosphere" was lost because two of the four teams were from areas too far to bring the entourage of fans and band. When we went to the same venue in Albany, three of the four teams were somewhat "local" (UNH, Maine, Harvard & Mich State) and the atmosphere was like no other place I've been. Dueling bands, pumped up fans and an excellent rink made it a special place and a event we'll never forget.

The referees determined the outcome. Period.

by DisappointedInBridgeport on 3/27/11Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard - Bridgeport

UM-Duluth 5, Yale 3. Sour grapes, now, but an inaccurate call likely changed the outcome of the game, but certainly changed its character by putting Yale at a disadvantage for 5 minutes and sidelined Yale's top scoring guy for almost the whole 2nd half of the game. (Watch the video of the hit.) UMD was a formidable opponent, but not at all superior. The refs took the game away from the boys of both teams and awarded it to UMD. I'd much rather have seen UMD win the game on their own play. But both teams were good enough to win the game... that evening. If this is the officiating we get from the NCAA "at its best", I couldn't recommend it to anyone. All the work the boys do over a long season is tossed out by a referee's decision to exert his (flawed) will to its maximum limit. This game was a real black eye for NCAA championship play.
