About

The ‘90s are often described as the Golden Era of hip hop with the decade introducing an array of acts, many of whom have stood the test of time and influenced generations of artists to follow. One such act is the Grammy Award winning hip hop trio, Naughty By Nature, born from the streets of East Orange, New Jersey, or better yet, the streets of ‘’Ill-Town’’.

The trio of Treach (Anthony Criss), Vin Rock (Vincent Brown) and the man responsible for their sound, super producer DJ Kay Gee (Keir Gist) have been a mainstay on world stages for 25 years since hitting the charts with their self titled debut album in 1991, which featured the classic ‘’O.P.P’’. Their follow up, 1993’s, ‘’Nineteen Naughty Three’’ featured the eternal hip hop anthem, ‘’Hip Hop Hooray’’ ensuring that the group would forever be embedded in popular culture. Their hit laden 1995 release, ‘’Poverty’s Paradise’’ featured set favourites, ‘’Craziest’’, ‘”Feel Me Flow’’ and ‘’Clap Yo Hands’’ but it was not until the release of 1999’s ‘’Nineteen Naughty Nine – Natures Fury’’ that the rest of the world caught up with what hip hop fans knew for so long with the album boasting two monster commercial hits in ‘’Holiday’’ and ‘’Jamboree’’. Since then, the group has released two further albums, the 2002 aptly titled ‘’Iicons’’ and 2011’s ‘’Anthem Inc”’ celebrating the groups 20th anniversary.

Hits and anthems aside, the group’s credibility as a hip hop powerhouse comes from their live shows. With constant touring, Naughty By Nature have established a reputation as one of the premier live hip hop groups of all time.

Australia’s love affair with Naughty by Nature commenced in 1995 when the group toured as part of the ‘’Cool Naughty Pain’’ tour with fellow hip hop artists, House of Pain and Coolio. Since that time, the guys have been regular visitors down under having performed shows across every major city and a number of regional towns. From clubs to arenas and festivals, the intensity and energy of a Naughty By Nature show is undeniable. Abstract Entertainment, Arena Touring and Delta Bravo are excited to announce that Treach, Vin Rock and Kay Gee are headed back down under to celebrate 20 years of touring Australia and to kick off their 25th anniversary celebrations. Fans are in for a treat with the shows promising to be nothing short of jam packed, hit laden, ‘’hands in the air’’ hip hop parties, with a few surprises.

i can't believe how many artists all in one show (tone loc, 2 live crew, sisqo, en vogue, color me badd, naughty by nature, and sir mix a lot). everyone was good. en vogue and sisqo were the standouts. my favorite artist and the reason I went was for naughty by nature.

Back to the 90's gets a big thumbs down

by Beatriz1 on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

The whole concert seemed like a low cost, cheap production. Tickets were $50 each (for the cheap seats!) and really should have been $20. The sound was terrible, I mean TERRIBLE. The announcer sounded completely out of place. The big screens kept going black. One of the artists was literally reading the lyrics off a piece of paper. The worst part was that all the artists would start to play their Hit Songs and then cut the song off!!! The whole reason we went was to hear the old top hits! They kept playing some new songs that nobody cared about. This was a throw back concert, that is what we paid for. The best part was actually a very quick intermission where the DJ played some fun 90's music. He needed to have played that music between every performer because there was way too much down time between each artist. It had no flow whatsoever. Oh and it was 5 hours long. Totally sucked.

For the size of the stadium, the sound NEEDED TO BE Re-Checked !!! HORRIBLE !!! Major disappointment, distorted musicians vocals and the overall effectiveness to move the crowd . . . screeching and scratching "To much Volume in their Voices". It made my ears ring and head hurt. Somebody, dropped the ball on the Sound. The actual musicians disappointed, nobody played their songs to their entirety . . . Just a taste, a tease. Could of done without the musicians song borrows, if filler was needed should of been in the keeping of the 90's (The theme - Baby GOT BACK to the 90's) Sorry, but much disappointment. Sir Mix-a-Lot and Tone Loc were by far my favorites. They still got it :) This was not a BOXING MATCH, could of done without the commentator; just prolonged the pain . . . Everyone just screamed at the audience which carried through the mike. PLEASE drop the act and leave the entertaining to the professionals. This was a Birthday Gift, I could of done without :( Could of been wonderful, much room for improvement.

    great show

by madcowbbq on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

I know this sounds funny, but it was almost too loud, i know, i know if its too loud your too old LOL, However with loudness, usually comes distortion, and in this case almost impossible to hear the lyrics. This is why i do not like live music. Which was a good thing esp. with 2 live crew as my wife is very pure in that respect and does not appreciate those kind of lyrics LOL. We both greatly enjoyed the concerts esp sir-mix-alot. We will not miss another opportunity to see him. the con was that we had no chance to win backstage passes as we have dumb phones and are not on twitter. I think it is very wrong, esp. with the predominate age group that went to this concert, granted 90% could have entered and probably did but we had no chance Please address this, A contest should have a level playing field and different ways of entering

    Wanted to love it;

by Twag357 on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

I wanted to love this show. Went to the one in Grapevine this year and had an absolute blast from the parking lot, to the drinks to the venue energy. With this lineup - Tone Loc, Bel Biv Devoe, and old school Sir Mix A Lot we were expecting AWESOME and those artists brought it! It was great to see them back on the stage. As soon as Tone Loc said "let's do it" we were ready to party. venue woes: I go to concerts all the time, but this one was WAY too loud. The volume kept getting turned up throughout the night to the point our ears were painfully ringing the next day. I got all these emails advertising a Rumpshaker drink, but walked the whole place and stood upstairs at a bar for 45 minutes waiting on 2 bartenders working the upstairs bar and people pushing and shoving to order. We gave up after missing 2 Live Crew, went back to our seat and drank a beer. Major venue fail. A lot of people were complaining about the drink lines. 7:30 PM Tone Loc - amazing 7:55 PM 2 Live Crew 8:20 PM Sisqo - worse (at this point concert energy lulled, and music got louder) 9:00 PM Color Me Badd - great 9:35 PM Sir Mix-A-Lot - what's not to love? 10:10 PM En Vogue - karaoke. They're not old school if they're 25. (music got even louder) 11:05 PM Naughty By Nature - it was sooo loud we had to leave. And them saying G damnit every 5 words we went home. En Vogue was the biggest disappointment of the night. 25 year olds singing En Vogue music like they're old school. Were those kids even alive in the 90's? If you're going to have En Vogue - call the original artists who had the hits and have them come play. I realize En Vogue's act is a rotating shift of singers (lame) but for a "back to the 90s" you cant have the new batch. Were the original singers even invited back? I bet they would've loved it. I won't go to the next 90's concert as this one was just not there.

by AussieInAustin on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

I used to listen to a lot of these bands back in Australia and would never thought I would get the chance to see them perform let-alone see this many bands in one show. My standouts have to be Sir Mix Alot and Sisqo but En Vogue owned the night - amazing

    Sound guys are terrible

by SuperflyMF on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

We were excited to see the line up of acts for this show. However.... The main problem was the sound. I've been to many concerts and have had seats in all parts of many venues. I have never heard the sound done so bad as it was at this show. First, the volume was set too loud for the music and not loud enough for the performers. Half the time you could not tell what they were singing or saying. Second, (related to the first) the volume was simply set too loud. I like loud music but the volume was so high it actually started hurting. Most of the music became one loud drone with a hint of beat in it. During the intermission DJ 2DQ had it right. Everything was clear and enjoyable.

Baby Got Back to the 90's

by sci411 on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

Was not as good as the first. Tickets and beer cost more. Shirts were on sale this time. Pre selected people to go on stage this time. It felt like the first concert was such a winner that someone decided they left money on the table and attempted to do it again. It was fun but was not the same. The best part was the DJ in between sets. The entertainment did a great job. The venue was nice. Tickets were checked in the front row at the first concert. Staff let random people stand there without checking tickets. It made for a very crowded front row that I paid to be in.

    Curse Fest

by daartist on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

I've Dj'd for over 30 years and been too 100s of concerts. Got 4 tickets for this even and although the format of an artist "relatively speaking" coming out, then a break with a mediocre host, and another artist coming out was okay but even that was not well orchestrated. 90's had some great music but this was more a a slut fest and lame rap dance fest. They had to pull girls on the stage to keep the audiences attention. Many good audience dancers and they were the highlight of the event. I must say for their age I wasn't expecting too much and I got 90% less that what I was expecting. EXCEPT Sisqo and the DJ who rocked the joint. Sisqo you could tell put his heart and soul into his preformance as the others seem to just show up and "F", "GD", "B", "P", etc. I'm sure some people might have loved it. But not I.

    The 90s is mixed

by Taryc on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

Overall I enjoyed the concert although I do have some mixed feelings about it. What I didn't like was some of the artist were talking over their songs. That was a bit irritating. It's like riding in a car and your song comes on and the person beside you starts talking to you and you're really trying to drown them out to listen to the actual song. "2 Live Crew" was my least favorite they were one of the groups that were talking over their songs. My favorite was Sir Mix-a-Lot. He looked the same he sounded the same he sounded good you could understand him, he put on a good show. En vogue sounded good but I think they went a bit too long. Maybe it was because they were towards the end of the event and I was getting tired. All in all I enjoyed myself and I had a good night.

by Deeznutz10 on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

It was overall an amazing show but Sisqo and Sir Mix A Lot stole the show! Just wish the performers could play more than like 3 songs each. I would recommend you check it out tho.

Should have been called coverband concert

by 1Dawn1 on 7/25/16H-E-B Center at Cedar Park - Cedar Park

When I go to a concert I expect the acts to play their own songs not mostly other bands music. Sound was was off for Naughty by Nature and 2 Live Crew. We walked out on NBN it sounded so bad. The only set that was awesome was Sir Mix A Lot. Wished his set was longer!
