About

International Pop, R&B and Jazz legend Natalie Cole, joins the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for An Unforgettable Evening with Natalie Cole at The Plenary, Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre on Tuesday 31 January 2012.
Throughout her highly successful career, the sultry and sophisticated songstress has received accolades in abundance - nine Grammy Awards, Songwriters Hall of Fame Hitmaker, George and Ira Gershwin Lifetime Musical Achievement Award, three American Music Awards across the Adult Contemporary, Soul & Rhythm & Blues genres and three NAACP Image Awards - 2000 Outstanding Actress in a Television, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special (Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story) and Best Jazz Artist in 2002 & 2009.
Natalie is the daughter of the late Jazz icon Nat King Cole and first recorded with her father at the age of six on his Christmas album.   A tomboy who delighted in mischief and music, she often walked onstage during performances or sneaked into the jam sessions with Louis Armstrong and other celebrated artists.
Natalie released her debut album Inseparable in 1975 and became a star in her own right with the #1 single This Will Be (An Everlasting Love), earning her first two Grammy Awards in 1976.
Her 1987 album Everlasting was a cohesive merge of eighties dance floor funk and tasteful adult contemporary tributes, producing the hits - Pink Cadillac, Jump Start, Everlasting, I Live For Your Love, When I Fall In Love and I've Got Love on My Mind.
The seminal 1991 jazz collection, Unforgettable...With Love, was Natalie's tribute to her father.  It included the posthumous duet Unforgettable, sold more than fourteen million copies worldwide and received six Grammy Awards.
Recent albums have brought the hits Miss You Like Crazy, Sophisticated Lady, Inseparable, Our Love and Over You amongst others.
As an author, Natalie documented her journey through privilege and poverty, success and serious illness in her deeply personal autobiography Angel On My Shoulder, which was produced for television as the biopic Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story.
Diagnosed with chronic Hepatitis C whilst recording her 2008 album Still Unforgettable, Natalie acknowledges that the infection likely resulted from addiction decades ago.    Her second memoir in 2009, Love Brought Me Back, chronicles the bitter-sweet story linked to her kidney transplant and recovery.   Natalie is now the spokesperson for the Los Angeles University Kidney Research Organisation which supports the prevention, treatment and eradication of kidney disease.
Film and television credits include the lead role in Lily In Winter, De-Lovely the Cole Porter biopic, Always Outnumbered and as herself in Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story.  She has appeared in over 300 television programs including Law and Order, Grey's Anatomy, American Idol, The Real Housewives of Miami and New York, concerts with Andrea Bocelli, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Nelson Mandela's 70th Birthday Tribute, the Super Bowl XXVIII and more.

If You've Got Love On Your Mind....don't miss An Unforgettable Evening with Natalie Cole and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday 31 January 2012 at The Plenary, Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre.
This Will Be the only Melbourne performance and Grace Knight Quartet are special guests.

    Natalie Cole was "Still Unforgetable"

    by Sandy1947 on 9/11/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

For a lady that just had kidney surgery, her performance was awe inspiring! She performed for 2 hours, with only a 5 min wardrobe change near the end. Natalie is just awesome, there is no other way to discribe her. Her interaction with the audience was light hearted and entertaining.

What was up with the short preacher man!

    by bowlfan1 on 9/11/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Natalie Cole was awsome, what an amazing voice and she looks fabulous! It was truly an amazing set until she brought out the short little preacher man for the last half hour. Suddenly the whole vibe and mood abruptly ended. Next time leave the preacher at church.

Natalie Cole was incredible!! Truly unforgettable!

by TroiB on 9/11/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

With her first post-surgery concert, Natalie Cole looked fabulous, regal, stylish and sounded amazing! I have always been a fan of Ms. Cole. From her R&B days to the big band and classic music, she has never missed a beat. The Hollywood Bowl, the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra and Natalie Cole made for an amazing combination. It was worth every dime and some!!

Look here Beyonce, Maria, and Christina...

You girls owe your shorts to Natalie. She was smooth, pitch-perfect, and genuinly happy to be singing, all while not coming off as some better than y'all diva. I can say I was not a big fan of hers, but my wife asked me to go. And I'm thrilled to say that I really enjoyed myself watching this brave performer knocking it out so close after her kidney transplant operation. I would tell anyone to see her.

    by JimmyLee222 on 9/10/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Great music with good company. Hollywood Bowl is cool because you can bring your own picnic with alcohol. I shared endless bottles of wine and great cheese without being hasseled to buy their food and drinks. Great setup there

    Natalie Cole was terrific

by Savilady on 9/10/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

We enjoyed Ms. Cole's singing, but did not understand why the orchestra played by itself for 40 minutes, then took a 20 minute break before Ms. Cole appeared on the stage. We also didn't care to see her brother and his group singing. I guess you could say we just went to see Natalie Cole.

    Inspirational

by personinlancaster on 9/10/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Natalie was totally right on...though a bit nervous for the first 20 minutes. She seem to be holding back in the beginning and as the evening went she gained confidence and strength. When she finally started to share about her experiences during the past 18 months and how God had blessed her "Twice", she became a powerful performer and communicator. She was amazing in both word and song. Bless you Natalie...

    Unforgettable!

by LaChaCha on 9/10/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

An incredible performance at the Hollywood Bowl by Natalie Cole! She is truly an inspiration having undergone complete kidney failure and a kidney transplant this last year. And yet she gave a show of such energy, verve, and incredible music! She sang beautiful slow and hot jazz, ballads of love and duets with her father, Nat King Cole. She had the audience in the palm of her hand. What a performer!

    A Huge Hit

by Clsicfan on 9/10/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Natalie was as great as ever. Probably even better. She never missed a note and the songs she selected were without a doubt wonderful and exciting. It was like she had never been away. Some entertainers try to make a comeback (actually, she was never really gone) and there is something missing. Not with Natalie. Her music made you glad that there were strings and singing. As far as I am concerned, she is in the same level as Sinatra and Bennett when it comes to singing the classics. I don't know of any female singer that can compare with them. One of the most wonderful and entertaining evenings that I have enjoyed in quite a while

    Natalie Cole Was Unforgettable!

by MissDot on 9/10/09Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Natalie Cole put on an amazing show last night at the Hollywood Bowl! She looked absolutely stunning and was clearly happy to be on stage after enduring her recent kidney transplant. She began the show with the classic standards that have come to define her as a singer! Obviously, it was a treat to see her singing along with her father on Unforgettable! She had some wonderful arrangements and her backup singers provided her some great vocals! She ended the last portion of her performance with some of her more popular R&B hits which were crowd pleasers! She's BACK!!

Natalie Cole was AWESOME......She looked fabulous and had plenty of energy, considering what she has gone through over the past few months (her sister's passing and her own health issues). It was a beautiful night at the Bowl. She just gets better with time.
