About

International Pop, R&B and Jazz legend Natalie Cole, joins the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for An Unforgettable Evening with Natalie Cole at The Plenary, Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre on Tuesday 31 January 2012.
Throughout her highly successful career, the sultry and sophisticated songstress has received accolades in abundance - nine Grammy Awards, Songwriters Hall of Fame Hitmaker, George and Ira Gershwin Lifetime Musical Achievement Award, three American Music Awards across the Adult Contemporary, Soul & Rhythm & Blues genres and three NAACP Image Awards - 2000 Outstanding Actress in a Television, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special (Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story) and Best Jazz Artist in 2002 & 2009.
Natalie is the daughter of the late Jazz icon Nat King Cole and first recorded with her father at the age of six on his Christmas album.   A tomboy who delighted in mischief and music, she often walked onstage during performances or sneaked into the jam sessions with Louis Armstrong and other celebrated artists.
Natalie released her debut album Inseparable in 1975 and became a star in her own right with the #1 single This Will Be (An Everlasting Love), earning her first two Grammy Awards in 1976.
Her 1987 album Everlasting was a cohesive merge of eighties dance floor funk and tasteful adult contemporary tributes, producing the hits - Pink Cadillac, Jump Start, Everlasting, I Live For Your Love, When I Fall In Love and I've Got Love on My Mind.
The seminal 1991 jazz collection, Unforgettable...With Love, was Natalie's tribute to her father.  It included the posthumous duet Unforgettable, sold more than fourteen million copies worldwide and received six Grammy Awards.
Recent albums have brought the hits Miss You Like Crazy, Sophisticated Lady, Inseparable, Our Love and Over You amongst others.
As an author, Natalie documented her journey through privilege and poverty, success and serious illness in her deeply personal autobiography Angel On My Shoulder, which was produced for television as the biopic Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story.
Diagnosed with chronic Hepatitis C whilst recording her 2008 album Still Unforgettable, Natalie acknowledges that the infection likely resulted from addiction decades ago.    Her second memoir in 2009, Love Brought Me Back, chronicles the bitter-sweet story linked to her kidney transplant and recovery.   Natalie is now the spokesperson for the Los Angeles University Kidney Research Organisation which supports the prevention, treatment and eradication of kidney disease.
Film and television credits include the lead role in Lily In Winter, De-Lovely the Cole Porter biopic, Always Outnumbered and as herself in Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story.  She has appeared in over 300 television programs including Law and Order, Grey's Anatomy, American Idol, The Real Housewives of Miami and New York, concerts with Andrea Bocelli, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Nelson Mandela's 70th Birthday Tribute, the Super Bowl XXVIII and more.

If You've Got Love On Your Mind....don't miss An Unforgettable Evening with Natalie Cole and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on Tuesday 31 January 2012 at The Plenary, Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre.
This Will Be the only Melbourne performance and Grace Knight Quartet are special guests.

    Natalie Cole...staggeringly talented!!

by PilotMike60 on 7/1/15Town Hall - New York

Natalie Cole, a consummate professional and talented artist met and exceeded my hopes and expectations for providing a memorable evening. First....the theater was beautiful and the seats were comfortable. The show didn't start on time because people were still taking seats past the appointed hour. The orchestra was excellent and well conducted. She sang many standards, old favorites, and mixed medleys. Acoustics were great for the genre. What else can be said....a marvelous, exciting experience!!

    Doesn't Get Better Than This!

by CoffeeBeans on 7/1/15Town Hall - New York

THANK YOU TOWN HALL. What an amazing venue and an amazing show. I saw Kenny G there two weeks ago, who was fabulous and Natalie Cole was even better. Her voice is heavenly. She is personable and seeing videos of her dad and family brought tears to my eyes. She sounds better than ever. I wish the show was longer. The only thing that could have made it better is if Kenny G and Natalie Cole performed together! I love this venue and look forward to other shows. It's such a great size. Not a Madison Square Garden. This is really up close and personal. LOVE IT!

This is the 4th time I've seen Natalie Cole and she is still truly beyond spectacular. The women still has it. Great duets with Nat and new material as well. All in all, this is well worth the money and would definitely see her again.

Such a class act & Mesmering performer!

by ACAMacam on 6/30/15Town Hall - NEW YORK CITY

I saw Natalie in NYC at Town Hall NYC. She performed to a sold out crowd & there was magic in the air. Everyone in the audience was music appreciative, fans of Natalie & true music lovers. Once the outstanding Orchestra started and Natalie came on stage, she reminded everyone of her artistry. Her every movement, every note & every lyric she sang was drenched in grace. Whether she was getting down & funky or being romantic or funny, she did it all to perfection. It was a gorgeous show from start to finish. I recommend catching this gem when she performs, I had a beautiful beautiful time!

The way the concert was being advertised sounded like there would be an opening act "An evening of jazz featuring Natalie Cole". Instead there was a short awards ceremony. Natalie Cole sounded and looked great. The show was a little short--just over an hour; she started around 8:30 and came out for her encore around 9:30. I was disappointed that there was not an opening act--it would have felt like a more complete evening and made it a longer show (I didn't feel I got my money's worth). Also just after Ms Cole started to sing (so around 8:30) a couple showed up late and stood in front of me arguing with the people next to us that they were in their seats which was incorrect--WHY weren't they helped by an usher instead of interrupting the first song for several people--especially if they were in the wrong place and over half an hour late.

by FloGlo1 on 6/29/15Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre - Atlanta

Natalie Cole was absolutely fantastic!!! The tribute to her father was very touching. I could have done without the award ceremony which preceded her concert, but thankfully, it did not last long.

Atlanta Loves Natalie - Talented and Beautiful

by PetWisdom on 6/27/15Atlanta - Atlanta

This show was EXCELLENT. Natalie Cole gave a 1 night only concert in Atlanta. Her voice was clear, powerful and engaging. The show starts off with a collection of jazz standards, then she sing a country song, followed by her R&B classic hits and concludes with powerful gospel number. The finale is another classic R&B hit. Natalie's musical director was a woman and she had an amazing band. She was really generous with one of her background singers. She let her lead a heart stirring, feet taping gospel song. It was AMAZING! Bottom line, if Natalie Cole comes to your, go see her. They don't make talented singers like her anymore.
