About the NASCAR XFINITY Series

The future stars of the NASCAR Cup battle against each other in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. For nearly four decades, the NASCAR XFINITY Series has been a proving ground for the top rising talent in stock car racing, giving them a chance to compete at the same venues and on the same weekends as the NASCAR Cup Series races. It continues a long tradition of support races that basically serve as an undercard to the NASCAR Cup events, as well as a companion to qualifying events that also take place the day of the NXS event.

History of the NASCAR XFINITY Series

The NASCAR XFINITY Series began in 1982 as the Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series and evolved from the NASCAR Sportsman and Late Model Sportsman Divisions. Dale Earnhardt, whose father Ralph won the Sportsman Division title in 1956, won the first-ever NXS race, the 1982 Goody's 300 at Daytona, while driver/owner Jack Ingram won the inaugural Series championship the same year. The series would become known as the Busch Grand National Series, the NASCAR Busch Series, and the NASCAR Nationwide Series throughout the '80s, '90s, and '00s, and it gained a reputation both as NASCAR's minor league and a further opportunity for NASCAR Cup stars to excel on the track.

NASCAR XFINITY Series vehicles differ significantly from their NASCAR Cup counterparts, especially after the NASCAR Car of Tomorrow was introduced in 2007. But they're similar enough for NXS drivers to excel in the main circuit, with two-time NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Busch winning the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series title and a record 96 NXS victories. The NASCAR XFINITY Series playoffs were introduced in 2016 and feature a format similar to the NASCAR Cup Series, called Chase for the Cup. Tyler Reddick won the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship in 2018 and 2019 before transitioning to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020.

  • Great Day Cut Short

by Anthony on 7/23/25Dover Motor Speedway - DoverRating: 4 out of 5

I would put 5 stars but they start these races late, when there is a rain delay late into the race there’s a chance it will be cancelled because the track does not have lights so they are not allowed to race past 8:10pm. There was a rain delay around 6 o’clock and after waiting an hour for the race to come back they decided to cancel it with almost half of the race remaining. Not a fun way to end the day, otherwise was a blast and a it’s a great track with great people. Wish they had track lights we would’ve been able to get our moneys worth from the race

It was a really exciting experience. The weather was extremely hot and they could’ve used misters or any other method to keep customers cool.

My wife and I had a great time at the BETMGM300 NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Traffic and parking were pretty smooth, the Fan Zone area before and after the race was fun, and the race itself was exciting -- but be sure to bring hearing protection. The food options were pretty good, but a wider selection of beers is needed.

  • Memorable Experience

by Debbie on 3/12/25Phoenix Raceway - AvondaleRating: 5 out of 5

I used to watch NASCAR races at home on Sundays and going to a live race was always on my bucket list. I was super excited that a race would be in my area and the tickets were reasonable enough for me yo purchase. I was extremely surprised with.how organized this event was including parking, seating, and bathrooms with no waiting. Thank you to all involved in making this a memorable event for me that I will talk about forever.

Track is great and the midway is spread out and not crowded. Loved it

  • Race and restrooms

by Scotty on 3/11/25Phoenix Raceway - AvondaleRating: 4 out of 5

Race was great although Aric ran Bowman into the wall at the finish. Some say its racing but what ever happened to clean racing. PIR needs to make more restrooms available to us fans in the faculty itself. Its very uncomfortable to stand in a line for 15 to 20 minutes to use a restroom.

  • Appreciate allowance of a snack & water

by Nan on 10/22/24Las Vegas Motor Speedway - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

Beautiful weather, nice seats! Restrooms were clean & spacious. Parking lot attendants did a great job! Ticket takers did the best they could with substandard scanners. But the Ushers in the stands had us walking back & forth for about 40 minutes because NOT ONE OF THEM knew where Section B was at all 4 of us are senior citizens with healthproblems! Finally an usher had is step back out of the way while he went to figure out where we should go. While we were waiting, another Usher came & told us we had to move along, so I told him the other young man was looking for our seats, & he said, "oh, ok". It just seems they should know where the sections are!

After many years of going to Xfinity races because of walking restrictions and they aren't as long, cost as much and not as crowded as Sundays Cup race, we decided that with all the new drivers, unknown #'s and not knowing only 3 or 4 drivers it isn't worth to us, the time, trouble or money to attend.

  • Super Cure Race

It was my first visit to Charlotte Motor Speedway. I had a magnificent time. I appreciate the parking and convenient shuttle to and from the gate. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the race. It was magnificent. I look forward to returning next year.

  • Entertaining Race

by Greg B on 10/15/24Charlotte Motor Speedway - ConcordRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I flew to Charlotte for the NASCAR Roval race weekend. We had a great time. You can see a lot of the infield road course from many vantage points but my recommendation is towards turn one. The higher up, the better.
