It was my first time going to the roller derby and I absolutely loved it!!!! It was so exciting and I got to meet the ladies after the derby, who are amazing and so sweet, it just made it an awesome event. I can't wait to go to the next one and I'm definitely buying a season pass for next year.
I love roller derby and was looking forward to finally seeing the Naptown Roller Girls in the newly innovated Pepsi Coliseum....or whatever it is called now. I had the option to purchase an upgraded ticket for a seat in the reserved section. When I arrived there the ushers were like, it's general seating. Sit wherever." I said, no, I purchase a reserved seat and showed them my ticket. When I finally found where I was supposed to be able to sit the usher said I'm sorry this is VIP only. My seat was in the VIP section but she motioned me to the next section over. Throughout the course of the night I saw Naptown roller girls escorting their friends and family in and out of the section I was supposed to be in. Note to self, don't pay for the upgraded seat because it doesn't exist!!! Also I've been to a few roller derby bouts and I didn't feel engaged in the action in this setting as in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion or the Convention center.
First time at a roller derby. Although we didn't know all of the rules, it was exciting to watch. Only problem was that our reserved seats did not exist. We were informed that the seats we actually purchased were on the other side of the arena in a reserved section. We couldn't find a seat in that area since it was full or they were being held by someone.
Good old fun. We've been going for quite a few years now and have made it one of our Winter traditions. Gives us a whacky excuse to get together with friends without all the uppity expectations. Enjoyed seeing the inside of the new Coliseum. We were not impressed with the high cost of concessions, the sparsity of such and the lack of what used to be the best corn dogs this time of year. One other drawback was something as simple as not nearly enough trash cans.
We purchased seats in a reserved section but had to move to different side of arena. It should not be this hard to figure seating out. Probably won't go back.
It was my date's and I first time to a roller derby event, and we had a good time. There was a good sized crowd, and they get into it! When they announced the girls it's a big deal, like a smaller scale opening of a basketball game. I definitely recommend this. But I would not pay the extra money for better seating, I was directed away from my seats that I paid extra, and was told I could sit anywhere because the seats I paid for were for VIP only. On ticketmaster there wasn't anything that said that, so I was screwed out of some money.
The Roller Girls did an amazing job for the season 9 opening night!! Keep up the good work ladies!!
