    Can always use a laugh

by forroz on 10/27/13Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

Gave these tickets to my dad as a gift. We do a lot of theater , mainly musicals and this was a change of pace and venue. The theater is easy to get to and comfortable. Thousand Oaks has a lot of good dinner choices but deli (Brent's) was appropriate for this 'My mothers Italian My father is Jewish performance. They loved the show and would see another by the play write A good laugh is a perfect way to end the day!

The show was fantastic. The actor was incredible. Laughed from the moment the play play began to the end. Hilarious. Definitely a must see.

Very cute and very impressive that the actor was on stage for 90 minutes and never faltered. The material was okay...some very old jokes. I found myself finishing some of the punch lines. I thought the ticket price was too high and the show was about a half-hour too long. Sorry.

Dissapointing. Largely toilet humor. Otherwise the lines were very old -- knew every punch line way ahead of time.

Great show loved the one man show. Good to remember the old Jewish jokes. Brings back great memories. Well worth the money. You can see from all the seats.

    Boring!

by Bracaky on 10/15/13Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

It was cute in some parts, but for the most part, he's not that big of an actor to pull off holding the audiences attention for the length of time this runs!! We all could write about our lives too, but would everyone be interested?? It was disappointing and loooooong!!

    Therapy was FUNNY, INTIMATE, ENTERTAINING

by Anonymous on 10/14/13Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

A very enjoyable show. Very intimate and engaging. I don't feel you have to be Italian or Jewish or even in therapy to enjoy this show. You just need to have a wacky family or know someone from a wacky family to be able to relate to the humor. I laughed out loud very often and left the show smiling and thoroughly entertained.

We very much enjoyed the play/monologue. We understood the cultures so it was hilarious. The beginning was a little slow but it took off after the intermission. One can sit anywhere in the theatre and see perfectly well; and the audience should be mature to understand the humor. Worth seeing this play.

    Would not recommend!

by Suzieqca on 10/12/13Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

Not what I expected. One person telling jokes for 2 hours is not my kind of entrainment. Especially when the jokes weren't very funny.

I didn't have the nerve to leave at intermission like two other people in my row did. The play is a one man standup. I didn't know that when I purchased the tickets. Some of the jokes I knew and were predictable. Some were new. All in all, not something I would recommend to anyone. Sorry. You asked my opinion.

Better for Jewish people over 60. It had its moments but really not for the under 50 crowd.

It was a lot of fun. Very well paced and full of nonstop jokes. The Rialto theater is worth a visit in itself!

    My Mother's Italian was hilarious.

by Pinker on 10/15/12The Wiltsie Center - Hazleton

My husband and I enjoyed the one- man show. Steve Solomon did a wonderful job. We could relate to many of the stories that he told. Laughed from the moment it started.

Was well delivered. Unfortunately, since the play's been so successful, I'd heard many of the jokes. Tobin did a good job with the material.
