    My Mother was Italian

by Carmelasantalucia on 7/9/16Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUS

I thought this was on target...growing up in an Italian family...now I know I was not alone. LOL I laughed from the beginning to the end and we talked about the play all evening. So funny a MUST see.

    Constant laughs

    by Ohio59 on 7/9/16Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUS

This one man show is engaging from beginning to end! The theatre is lovely and easily accessible from I71; free parking is ample. Peter Fogel capably incorporates a variety of voices and accents as he tells the audience about his life while he waits to see his psychiatrist. The play was written by Brooklyn native Steve Solomon. It may help if you're familiar with Jewish or Italian culture, but it doesn't matter, because anyone can relate to problems with aging parents, a troublesome marriage and quirky relatives. I highly recommend the show.

    My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish & I'm in T

by Hotdot20 on 7/22/1524th Street Theater - Sacramento

We were really looking forward to a funny afternoon out. Our family left during intermission because none of us were enjoying it. The attempted humor was bawdy and crass. Also, actions like crotch-grabbing were unexpected and distasteful. Our daughter and her daughter were just offended by the language and actions. The advertisement for the play did not indicate it was R-rated.

Steve was incredibly right on target on the situations, accents, beliefs, growing up in Brooklyn, etc. He was amazing. Our brother-in-law, Richard Knox sends best regards again.

    Excellent!

by katzr on 3/30/15Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

This play was wonderfully put together! There were four of us and we had great seats, the only problem was at times he was hard to hear - Through no fault of the actor but probably the acoustic of the Auditorium Theater. If you have a hearing problem, then it was harder to hear. There were so many things he said that we related to, we laughed through most of the play. We are hoping he brings his other plays back to Rochester as we would see him again and next time recommend more friends join us. Fabulous evening!

Funny show, old jokes told well

by LittleDoc on 3/29/15Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

Well-done one man show, with many fine one-liners, many of them old but recounted with fine accents and delivery. I don't think you need to be Jewish or italian (or in therapy) to enjoy this, but it helps!

We were really looking forward to a funny evening out. Our family left during intermission because none of us were enjoying it. The attempted humor was tired and old. My husband and I are in our 50's, and our daughter is in her 20's.

    Humor makes everything ok!

by 1dawn on 3/29/15Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

This man is so talented and funny. I don't go to performances like this but it was a gift for my step mother and this was her choice. I couldn't be more delighted that she chose this. It was so nice to forget the world for two hours and step into his years growing up. I would definately go see it again. I am sure there is something I missed . If you have the chance to go , don't miss it. Well worth the $$.Try to sit up front , close and personal it's more fun.

Hysterical. Laughed all evening! Steve Solomon is so talented. Wonderful voices and dialects of his dysfunctional family. Loved the informal atmosphere of a one man show. Never a dull moment!

Absolutely loved this show! So true to life, everyone could relate to the show. Even if you were not Jewish or Italian, most people know a person of this ethnicity. Would love to see one of his other shows

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. A laugh a minute. Just the right amount of time, not too long. Well worth the price to have an evening of laughter.

I didn't think that this was very funny, sorry to say. There were a lot of fart jokes, and poop jokes. You want to laugh and the guy is nice enough, but it just was so so to me. Not bad, not good either.

    Therapy's a great show

by pudgy68 on 10/29/13Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

I enjoyed the performer who was able to engage the audience and able to elicit laughter without using the F word. I enjoy watching comedians who have the ability to make people laugh without using bad language...... a little bit is okay when used in the context of a joke but going over-board with bad language just bores me. I liked that a matinee show was available, gave us enough time to have dinner at a reasonable time afterward, in all a great day!

    Oye!

by s2na on 10/28/13Scherr Forum-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand Oaks

The audience seemed to love this show and I heard someone saying they were seeing it for the second time. I personally found it to include too much bathroom humor. Not funny enough for me and too long as well.
