About

My Dad Wrote a Porno on Tour

The internet's sauciest podcast is also a live blue revue. On the self-explanatory My Dad Wrote a Porno, British humorists Jamie Morton, James Cooper and Alice Levine provide real-time commentary on an actual series of erotic-fiction novels penned by Morton's father under a pseudonym, with the trio hilariously dissecting each increasingly ridiculous line of purple prose. Onstage, the trio pull up the love seats and invite you to join them for X-rated storytime, as Morton reads out passages from the Belinda Blinked collection while Cooper and Levine react (often in horror). But don't get too cozy in your seats — the trio have been known to pull audience members onstage to read some of the books' steamiest scenes. Don't worry, you won't have to do anything unseemly.

My Dad Wrote a Porno Background

Parents primarily exist to embarrass their kids — but not if those kids can embarrass them first. Sometime in the early 2010s, British television writer Jamie Morton was gifted a manuscript of his retired father's debut novel — a work of erotica titled Belinda Blinked that he had written under the pen name of Rocky Flintstone. (No, really.) Gobsmacked by his father's surprising hobby, Morton shared the book with his friends James Cooper and Alice Levine (a BBC 1 personality), and they soon realized that their incredulous reactions to its asinine plot and ridiculously overwritten bedroom scenes would make for an amusing podcast. My Dad Wrote a Porno debuted in 2015, with each episode providing a moment-by-moment account of a chapter in the book. And as Papa Flintstone continued to produce more volumes of the Belinda Blinked saga, the podcast returned for additional seasons. Over the past half-decade, My Dad Wrote a Porno has generated more than 250 million downloads, toured a stage production around the world, spawned an HBO special, and welcomed celebrity guests like Elijah Wood and Emma Thompson.

    Absolutely loved it.

by Colin on 3/10/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Naughty, naughty, naughty and so very funny. Had a wonderful time. Even though I hadn't completely caught up on the story, I didn't miss anything. This is very much a standalone show with the usual horrific writing and side-splitting laughs of the Belinda Blinked series. Jamie, Alice, and James were a delight to watch. They got the audience involved, showed us a fun little history of themselves, and gave a great show. I love my Steeles Pots & Pans shirt!!!

Right off the bat, this show was excellent. I have never laughed so much at a show; everyone was in stitches. Anyone who is a fan of this podcast should go see them live. 10/10

    Hilarious, disgusting, Amazing!!

    by W. H. on 3/10/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Jamie, James, and Alice play off of each other fantastically. Rocky's writing is bizarre, hilarious, and just plain gross. This is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. I attended and loved the first tour. This one did not disappoint!! You do not need to know the podcast to enjoy this. I sat next to a couple at the first tour that wasn't familiar and thoroughly enjoyed the show!!

by Dani on 3/10/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Everything was wonderful! The lines for drinks and merchandise moved very quickly. Everyone was professional at the theatre. The performers were everything I wanted and more! They involved the audience a ton and had everyone laughing all night! Will definitely go see them again!

The podcast is just hysterical and seeing them live just adds the missing dimension! It was a great evening and nice to put faces with the voices!

    I laughed I cried I almost vomited

by Dee on 3/10/20The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

This is hands down the most disgusting chapter Rocky has written to date. My face hurt from laughing so much and my voice was hoarse the next day. If you can still get tickets to this, you absolutely must, especially if there are some meet and greets available! JJ&A are so very nice and they all hugged me!

Laughed so hard I could barely talk the next day...

by MaggieSin on 3/9/20Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

This show was the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life! I was so happy to have gone and next time I am spending more to get the meet and greet and better seat. The theater was beautiful and to have it held there and to be talking about dad porn was the cherry on top of an amazing experience. 10/10!

    Great show, Disrespectful guests

by Lindsay on 3/9/20Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

We had two super drunk women in front of us who would not stop talking loudly all through the show, constantly threw their heads back to laugh (only a problem because their heads went directly into our laps and they didn’t care), and spent the rest of their time texting with the screen brightness turned all the way up. The show was fabulous but I’m afraid the experience was slightly ruined by such strange guests. Why bother paying for a show you didn’t even want to watch?

    Best show I’ve been to

by Ryan DeJ on 3/9/20Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Everything about this show was fantastic! Excellent venue choice, fair amount of leg room. The My Dad Wrote a Porno team were amazing! The show was hilarious and engaging. They were full of energy and the show was probably the best live show experience I’ve been to.

    Hilarious Show, Theater Lacking

by Ali on 3/8/20Paramount Theatre - Denver

MDWAP was everything I wanted it to be and more! The event was so fun. The theater was not my favorite. The seats aren’t staggered so it’s hard to see the stage and the lobby areas were always crowded.

    For a good time...

by TLTOSU on 3/12/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

If you're a fan of the podcast, you don't need to be sold. You know what the show is, and you're going anyway. If you're not, then listen and then maybe to another after that. If you laugh and smile, you're a fan and should keep listening and if you scowl and don't 'get it', stay home. You have no sense of humor and won't appreciate it. So good live. The gang did some visuals that you don't get from the podcast and got the audience involved a couple of times. Very good time, a great night out!

    Laughed so hard I cried

I learned so much about business and getting to the top. I’ll be turning up with dice and a leather pantsuit at my next meeting.

The best (and most distressing) night you'll have!

by galaxieblast on 3/10/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

If you're looking at reviews for this, you must want to go to the event. If you want to go to the event, then you're probably a fan of the podcast already. With that said, if you love the podcast, the hosts, and the horrible and horrifying "literature" they discuss, then you should go. The crowd was fantastic - people dressing up in costume, audience participation from the hosts, everything was great. Just like when listening to the podcast, I laughed, I winced, I felt a little nauseous, and couldn't wait to do it all over again.

Laugh out loud even if you're a newbie

by Kar22 on 3/10/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

The live show was literally my first introduction to My Dad Wrote a Porno, having never heard the podcast or read the book. Still a raucous good time. Awesome audience too!
