About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • We Missed You Guys!

by Jooleeya on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Amazing show that I've been waiting five years for. My Chemical Romance is back, and they're better than ever. New style, color, great lyrics, and a memorable experience nobody will forget. Some say they've sold out, but they've grown up and matured, and as a result, created a CD that was worth waiting for. Moshing got a bit out of control. Happens at every concert, but really, there are people trying to ENJOY the music who don't want to be pushed around. Also, there were people smoking right in front of us...thought this was an all ages show and a no-smoking facility? Studio house band was very bad. I thought it was only The Gaslight Anthem opening, and when I heard I had to sit through ANOTHER band, that was kind of irritating. Very bittersweet when My Chem came out. Everyone loves their new stuff and their old stuff as well. Very cool that Dr. D was there to open and start the concert...everyone went nuts. Great show overall. MCR does NOT disappoint. You never know what to expect from them onstage. Frontman Gerard is always doing crazy stuff, which makes for a better show. They are all wonderful people and my absolute favorite band. I missed hearing from them for 4 years, but this CD is a HUGE improvement over The Black Parade, and just goes to show how much they've matured. As Gerard said during the concert-- "We're back! And we missed you!" Yeah. We missed you too.

  • MCR and The Gaslight Anthem rock Roseland

by JohnOC on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

This was a once in a lifetime show where New Jersey's My Chemical Romance and The Gaslight Anthem rocked a sold out 3200 person Roseland Ballroom. Openers were Fifteen Fleeting but I arrived late and missed them. Gaslight came on as soon as I arrived. Gaslight sold out Radio City Music Hall a few months back so this is considered an intimate show for them. They cruised right through a 15 song set that included hits such as "Boxer", "The 59 Sound" and "American Slang". After a brief 15 minute break, RXP's own Matt Pinfield came out and pumped up the crowd for the arena rockers My Chemical Romance, who hasn't played a NYC show since headlining Madison Square Garden a few months back. The crowd was already pumped and when Dr. Death Defying (Steve Righ? of MSI fame) came out and did his Look Alive, Sunshine bit, My Chem went straight into the song Na, Na, Na. After their first single on the new album, MCR went into an old favorite, Thank You for the Venom! While the set was filled with mostly new songs off their new album, "Danger Days.." My Chem played some old classics such as "I'm Not Okay", "The Ghost of You", "...Guys Like us in Prison" and more. MCR ended their set with their popular closer, "Helena" but the crowd wanted more. Touring keyboard player James DeWees came out and played the familiar chords of the song Cancer. Front man Gerard Way came out and sung a touching version of the song. The band came out after and closed the show with a new song titled, "The Kids From Yesterday". All in all it was great performance by both bands and definitely check out both of them when they play in your area.

  • Gaslight Should Be The Headliner!

by Eddietrap on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

By far the highlight of the night was the Gaslight set. This band is set for the next level. MCR was lucky to get Gaslight there as an opening act. Probably will flop roles by this time next year if MCR is still around.

  • MCR blew the roof off Roseland!

by totallyrocks on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

How to describe the best concert experience ever? MCR rocked from the second they appeared on stage until Mikey plucked the last chord on his awesome bass! DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW if you have any love for rock music! Get lots of sleep before you go and be prepared to be totally exhausted when you leave. It'll be the rockinest night you'll remember for a lifetime!

  • MCR was awesome!

    by debbiekel1 on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great venue with a great band- I took in a bunch of 15 year olds & they had a great time!!

  • My Chem Rocked the house

by Rihammer on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The entire show was great, beginning to end, all the bands sounded great. My Chem was point on and sounded amazing.... They blew the doors off the place

  • #1 Band from NJ - MCR!

by MyPurpleRomance on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The lines were long and the night was cold but once MCR hit the first note, that was all forgotten and energy filled the room. The show got off to a slow start with Fifteen Fleeting. Gaslight Anthem started to hype up the crowd a little bit more, but once the true reason why we were all there came out, My Chemical Romance, everything just exploded with excitement! They play songs from Revenge, Black Parade and of course Danger Days. All in all a great performance by MCR! There are truly amazing!

  • Bizarrely Awesome

by NYConcertExaminer on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Weird but delightful combo. The Gaslight Anthem is awesome as is MCR.

  • Great (for being at Roseland)

    by MakaFeli88 on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Gaslight Anthem was tremendous as usual mixing in a lot of songs from their first album Sink or Swim. My Chemical Romance also did a great job mixing in old with the new. Although the show was a lot of fun, it's a shame to see someone like Gaslight at such a large venue where you can get as good of a vibe/feel for the music as you would at other NYC venues. All in all was a good show.

  • My Chemical Romance; best show of the year!!!

by Kelianna on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Roseland Ballroom was the place to be on Dec. 3rd 2010. The highly anticipated My Chemical Romance show had sold out in just 5 hours the day tickets went on sale. The line outside the venue started to form two days in advance to the show, “killjoys” eager to be right up front and center stage to finally witness their favorite band perform again. My Chemical Romance, better known as “My Chem” or “MCR” was on a two and a half year long hiatus recording and perfecting the new and edgy punk-rock album “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”, the concept of the record was based on an idea vocalist and comic book writer Gerard Way came up with of radio transmissions heard from the year 2019 being told by fictional character “Dr. Death Defying” played by Steven Montano of the band Mindless Self Indulgence. My Chemical Romance is known for their over-the-top, dramatic and theatrical style of music. In addition, the band’s style is quite unpredictable, each one of the four album’s they put out in the ten years they’ve been around take on their own personality and are so different from each other which makes fans fall in love with each side of them, with that in mind no one knew what could be in store for the live performance but one thing for sure was that there was not one silent mouth in the whole ballroom when Dr. Death Defying walked onstage and spoke the words to the intro, “Look Alive, Sunshine” from the new album, then when newly pink-haired Gerard Way walked on stage the whole crowd erupted, and at that single moment it was official, My Chemical Romance owned that place for the next two hours. The band’s set was jam packed with 16 songs and two encores so that the energy never stopped. Not only did they play some new tracks such as “Na Na Na” and “The Only Hope For Me Is You” but the band also played all the crowd pleasers and fan favorites from other albums like songs “Teenagers” and “Welcome to the Black Parade” and their Bob Dylan cover “Desolation Row”. The chemistry between all members onstage was incredible, between Rhythm Guitarist, Frank Iero falling to the ground playing his heart out, Guitarist, Ray Toro ripping out solo after solo and Gerard running all over the stage putting every last drop of energy he had into the performance it showed that My Chemical Romance truly love what they do and play every show like it’s their last. It was also true that every single person in the crowd no matter where they were standing were lucky to be in attendance and after the show everyone had already begun to count down the days until My Chem play in New York again on April 22nd at Terminal 5.

  • by JustPost on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

The show kept to its schedule, the sound and lighting were both excellent, and the band performed to the back of the room - truly a feat in a venue as deep as Roseland.

  • G had some great energy

    by Billy87 on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

It was my first time to Roseland Ballroom (I am from Ohio) and it was interesting to see all the history of the place. But the highlight of the night was MCR for sure. They sounded great but in particular had energy and enthusiasm like I haven't seen before. I saw the Black Parade about 7-9 times including once in England and MCR straight up a few times beyond that but don't recall so much energy. It was a great time and mighty impressive.

  • MCR's newest had the room shaking

    by trmzb0 on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

When a band releases a new album, usually the first shows are a roller coaster of ups and downs with the crowd politely listening to new music. Not so here! Friday's show was a constant cheer, dance, sing-along that left you wanting to start over again. The new album shined right along with the tried and true and the crowd was singing until they had nothing left. It's pretty unique to see a new album out for less than a month have such an amazing following already. Great great fun!

  • MCR was awesome

by LexNY on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show.. could have done with out the 2 hours of other bands palying before they came on and would have loved if they played a bit longer... other wise the show was awesome and the vibe in the room was grt

  • MCR 12/3 ROSELAND

by LibenAudi on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Nice small venue, MCR sounded great, played nice mix of old and new. GLA sounded great as well....

  • They were OK, but Gaslight were better!!!!!

by JMDiablo on 12/6/10Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 2 out of 5

MCR came out with volume on high!!!! But I think this adversely affected their sound.....the band was so loud, it was difficult to hear Gerard throughout the show. My ears were ringing over a day later! And it wasn't the house sound because Gaslight Anthem went on before them and the singer was clear; they sounded a lot better than MCR. Although the mix/sound was horrible, MCR put on a good show.

  • The Magic of MCR
