    My Brother Marvin was excellent!

by AbsolutelyLoveConcerts on 2/16/13The Fisher Theatre - Detroit

My date and I totally enjoyed this show! The cast was EXCELLENT and extremely talented. It's a story of Marvin Gaye's life including the Motown years. It shows the good and bad, including his drug addiction and family life. The moral of the story is this: Talent, fame and fortune sometimes can't take away dysfunction. I recommend this show to anyone who knows the hazards of being a performer, anyone who loves Marvin Gaye's music or Motown. I would see this show again. Well done Zeola! (one of Marvin's 12 siblings!)

Great show but they didn't have the rights to sing any of his songs so it was disappointing not to be able to hear his music with the play.

    Definitely forgettable!

by Donzelle on 2/16/13Fisher Theatre - Detroit

To be quite honest I thought it was kind of cheesy,it had a couple of moments but overall I could've done without it! They don't even sing any of Marvin songs because they're not allowed to use his music.....that sucked!

    My Brother Marvin

    by ZetaOB1920 on 2/16/13Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I enjoyed the play but I didn't like how they didn't play any of marvin songs he has made some wonderful music and they didn't play any of his songs I just found that wired its a play about his life and they didn't allow his music to play it might have been a money issue and there where a couple times when the play was skippin parts and you had to guess what was goin on but I still enjoyed the message that was behind it Only other thing is I wish they would inforce if your not on time you wouldn't get in to the play its so rude for people to be movin around while the event is startin JUST RUDE

    My brother Marvin

by Poona on 2/16/13Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I was truly entertained and I learned a lot about mr. Gaye's life. It was a tragic situation his untimely death, but it was truly great to learn the truth as to what really happened. The music was great and Lynn Whitfield and Clifton Powell did an amazing job. Also, Keith Washington and all the other singers in the play. It was well worth the time and the money. Kudos to Marvin Gaye's sister great job.

    Unbelievable

    by Lenebean70 on 2/16/13Fisher Theatre - Detroit

The cast is stellar. His sister did a phenomenal job putting the show on and the story out there. You will literally both laugh and cry during this show. Some real surprises too. I would see it again.

    Good but disappointed

    by CindySue25 on 2/16/13Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This was an overall good play but after getting there you learn you will not hear ANY of Marvin's songs! Very disappointing. The play is good but at the same time very anti-climatic. They should've waited to get rights to use songs.

Very very amateurish. Awful. Stay away. Actors need more practice. Needed more singing too. Very disappointing.

Not what I was expecting to see

by Thebald on 2/14/13Fisher Theatre - Detroit

I was so disappointed my wife and I don't get out much she works a lot and I just started a business so I took her to see my brother Marvin thought we would hear some songs from Marvin. But not one song was sang. It was a great story, killed by lack of preparation people laughed at parts that should have been serious.
