About

MUTEMATH IN CONCERT:

Alternative rock four-piece MuteMath is making their mark on the indie scene with their dynamic synths and driving guitar sound. Whether they're tearing through fan favorites like "Typical" or diving into the audience for a crowd surf, MuteMath always delivers the goods at their electrifying live shows. The band's energy is infectious, and their inimitable showmanship never fails to get fans pumped up and on their thrilling tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

New Orleans act MuteMath formed in 2002 by friends Paul Meany (vocals), Darren King (drums), Todd Gummerman (guitars), and Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (bass). The band initially sent recordings back and forth via email while they were split between Louisiana and Missouri, but they all came together to record their 2004 EP Reset. The release was a hit, spawning whirlwind tours with Circa Survive and Mae that gained the band a considerable cult following. They followed up with their self-titled debut LP in 2006, which peaked at No. 17 on the Top Heatseekers chart, was praised by major media outlets, and earned a number of major festival appearances for the budding group. Since then the four-piece has recorded two more acclaimed albums, been nominated for a Grammy Award, and played for hundreds of thousands of fans around the world. With their expansive collection of popular tunes and sensational stage presence, MuteMath is a must-see live act that never disappoints their eager fans.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I've seen this band 5 times in 4 different cities and they never, NEVER, disappoint. Not only is their music incredible as is, but their live presence and over-the-top antics are something you just need to see together."

"These guys put on such a great live show!!!!! I have a live DVD of theirs, but seeing them in person is so much better. Everyone in the band came into the audience several times through the show. The lead singer stage dove twice! And they played all of the songs from the new album aside from a ton of songs from older albums."

"This was by far the best concert experience I've ever had!  If you are a true MUTEMATH fan then you will love this tour. They make a real effort to play songs from all three of their albums and then every song off of Odd Soul. Not to mention Paul Meany is great singing live and loves to add in a few stunts around the stage."

The band that changed my entire existence.

by oheverglow on 5/3/16Theatre of the Living Arts - Philadelphia

A MuteMath live set will change your life. I've been seeing them since their Control EP, and every single time I spend most of the set with my jaw on the floor. If you have the option to see them, GET ON THAT.

    Mutemath is amazing live!

by OddSoul on 4/8/16Newport Music Hall - Columbus

This is the 5th time I've seen Mutemath live and they never disappoint! Amazing band and very energetic in the way they translate songs live. They had a great mix of new and old material. Paul Meany whipped out the classic keytar on Noticed and a couple other songs. It was fun watching Roy and Todd swap instruments going from keys to guitar depending on the song, and of course Darren tore it up on the drums! Loved the custom electronic drum set up he had with audience members holding up some type of glove that lit up on impact. Can't recommend Mutemath more. Check 'em out!

    First time = amazing!!

by Anonymous on 4/4/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

I've been a fan of Mutemath for just a few months now, and I've gotten really into them. I've watched their live videos and music videos, but nothing compares to seeing them in person and on stage, jamming their hearts out. Darren absolutely killed it and Paul was so much fun to watch. These guys are extremely creative and unique, and they're a blast to see.

MuteMath was everything I'd hoped for!!!

by TaraB324 on 4/4/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

One of my biggest pet peeves of musical artists is when they talk and try to be profound. They always end up sounding dumb. Paul Meany never spoke and the band just jammed out for 2 solid hours. It was perfect! It was amazing! It was everything I'd hoped it was going to be! I can't believe they were in such a small venue. I felt like I was in a private club! I can't believe tix were only thirty bucks. These guys are extremely talented musicians. They worked their azzes off up there! Sweat dripping. Long jam sessions. These guys are performers. They are giving you everything they got. They love what they do and it shows. Omg, it was dang near a religious experience. Love, love, loved it! Love these guys!

    So good!!!

by kendallclayton on 4/4/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

Mutemath put on such an amazing show!!! The venue is small so it's very intimate, which I loved. You have a good and close view from anywhere you are standing. The opening band, Paper Route was so so good too. I've been a fan of theirs for a long while and it was my first time seeing them as well.

    Mutemath is awesome!

by Trevmac on 4/4/16Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I only gave 4 stars because it was not quite as good as the Odd Soul tour back in 2012. They did not do as much of the creative stuff throughout the concert and it was more of just playing all the songs. But since their music is awesome that's still ok, and they still had some of the creative stuff such as high-five drumming with the audience. If you have never seen Mutemath, I highly recommend it. They're my favorite band and always put on a great performance for at least 2 solid hours. We were right behind the sound table and they had a song counter and they played 23 songs!

Mutemath played a fantastic mix of their old and new songs. I was so impressed that the live music is just as good and complex and high quality as their digital music. They interacted with the audience and let our voices come through in the songs. It was my friend's first concert - she had never heard of Mutemath before this - and she absolutely loved it! We were dancing to the strong rhythm the whole time. These musicians put a great deal of care, passion, and development into their music.

    MUTEMATH not what I remembered

by Jrock1109 on 4/2/16Newport Music Hall - Columbus

I have to say as musicians I truly love these guys. Unfortunately the sounds was way off. Vocals were too low. The new album is a lot more layered and not as energetic which isn't bad but you need better vocals so it doesn't get lost. Maybe it was just the venue which is really disappointing because I love the Newport. I will be seeing them again at lollapalooza and I'm hoping it is much better. I will give them 4 stars because I do love them but I was a little disappointed.

    Superb Show!

by SilentOption on 4/1/16House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

Mutemath have never failed to deliver a superb performance and their recent gig at the House of Blues was no exception. The visual effects were the best I've seen in their tours and the new sounds were "music to my ears". As a drummer I was especially impressed with the audience participation during one of the songs. The drummer placed these sort of glove/drum triggers on several audience members and had them hold the triggers in a sort of "high five" position and he proceeded to play their hands in a brief solo which led into the song. Totally awesome! The opening act Paper Route did a fine job of setting the stage for the evening. I'd never heard them before and instantly fell in love with their groove. Overall a great evening and performance by both bands!

    Mute Math Comes to NYC!

by Yets on 3/29/16Terminal 5 - New York

This show made me feel alive. They were incredible. I think they are one of the best and most underrated bands in the business. They played a full 2 hours to an energetic crowd, a crowd that fed off of the bands energy. They are simply amazing. The setlist was a wide range from their passed 4 albums. They used their inflatable mattress in the crowd, the drummer had hand drums that he put on audience members and played drums on their hands and it lit up... they were so amazing. I felt alive at this show. It sounds cliche and not sincere but that's how I felt.
