Muse in Concert

Armed with guitars, synths, and one killer falsetto, British rockers Muse have been playing and performing like it's the end of the world since the mid-1990s. The trio of lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard first came together in Devon, England, as goth band Rocket Baby Dolls. At the time, their riveting showmanship on stage was already starting to show: In 1994, they won a local "battle of the bands" contest, switched their name to the trimmer and tidier Muse, and have since skyrocketed into one of the most electrifying stadium acts in the world.

Over their first few years, they played gigs around England and eventually recorded their first set of material, a self-titled EP, in 1998. But it wasn't until follow-up EP ‘Muscle Museum' that they first reached the NME Indie Singles Chart, and started accumulating comparisons to Radiohead. Their 1999 debut album ‘Showbiz' would follow, and its sci-fi-inspired alt-rock landed them on numerous European charts. Muse's bombastic eclecticism would only grow from here. Their next round of albums incorporated more touches of classical music, church organs, Mellotrons, and various experimental effects, and by their third album, ‘Absolution,' they'd kicked off a consistent streak of topping the U.K. charts.

Since 2006's ‘Black Holes and Revelations,' they began to conquer the U.S. as well, and their live shows became more and more extravagant as their music became more and more dystopic. The high-tech worldwide tours backing 2009's ‘1984'-inspired ‘The Resistance' and 2012's ‘The Second Law' would prove them to be a must-see event, with massive light displays and film projections, pyrotechnics, and even an LED suit for Bellamy. Their next album, ‘Drones,' scored them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2015, and gave them a good reason to incorporate real drones into their Drones Tour. Muse would continue on the surreal sci-fi path with 2018's synth-pop release ‘Simulation Theory' and a 2019 tour — quite possibly their most mind-blowing yet.

    Benchmark for any concert.

by SAZUS on 4/10/10US Airways Center - Phoenix

Muse in concert has set the bar incredibly high. The stage show alone does an outstanding job of including the entire audience regardless of their seats. The musicianship and cohesion of the group are unparalleled. Definitely a don't miss event.

    Quite Impressed

by Anonymous on 4/10/10US Airways Center - Phoenix

It was definitely worth the money i spent. their stage present was outstanding. and the fact that they are muse whats something on its own. its always risky business to watch live shows just because you fear you might be disappointed because it seems a lot of bands sound bad live. it was the exact opposite with muse, it was just as good as their albums, if not better.

You will never forget this concert

by SpaceDementia on 4/10/10US Airways Center - Phoenix

I have loved Muse ever since i first listened to them. I've been trying to get tickets to one of their concerts for the longest time, and because they seldom play in the states I knew i had to grab them as soon as they went on sale. Even though i sat second level stage right, it was still the most memorable concert i have ever been to. I strongly suggest you to buy tickets! The only, and i mean only downside to their concert was the length. If they would have played ten more songs it would have been perfect. Bottom line, amazing

    MUSE Best Live Act!!!

by MinervaXG on 4/10/10US Airways Center - Phoenix

The show was simply unforgettable. From the first song "Uprising" to the last song "Knights of Cydonia", MUSE kept the energy going from start to finish. I was on the floor and it was packed but everyone was civil and polite not to get into each others view. Best show ever!

Muse's concert was a show stopper!

by ryanm10r on 4/10/10US Airways Center - Phoenix

I have definitely enjoyed Muse's concert at US Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ on Friday night, April 9, 2010. Having not seen Muse in concert before, I was neutral and did not get my hopes up. I was totally wrong. I was completely blown away by the performance, the lightings, escalating stage, digital effects, the sound were all great and much, much more. I definitely would love to see Muse in concert again. Cheers to Matt & Co.!

    Lights louder than music

by spamama on 4/10/10US Airways Center - Phoenix

I am a fan of Muse's more "popular" songs, their sound is unique and powerful, however, the concert was way overboard and overproduced. I felt all the lights, lasers, and moving stages took away from the music which is mesmerizing in itself. I didn't walk away feeling like I would buy their CD which I had expected to before seeing them live, infact, I walked away from the show before the oncore. I did become a huge fan of the SilverSun Pickups and thought they needed more stage time. Although they didn't have all the special effects that Muse had, the music was the focus and helped me to appreciate this amazing and talented band!
