About

Muse in Concert

Armed with guitars, synths, and one killer falsetto, British rockers Muse have been playing and performing like it's the end of the world since the mid-1990s. The trio of lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard first came together in Devon, England, as goth band Rocket Baby Dolls. At the time, their riveting showmanship on stage was already starting to show: In 1994, they won a local "battle of the bands" contest, switched their name to the trimmer and tidier Muse, and have since skyrocketed into one of the most electrifying stadium acts in the world.

Over their first few years, they played gigs around England and eventually recorded their first set of material, a self-titled EP, in 1998. But it wasn't until follow-up EP ‘Muscle Museum' that they first reached the NME Indie Singles Chart, and started accumulating comparisons to Radiohead. Their 1999 debut album ‘Showbiz' would follow, and its sci-fi-inspired alt-rock landed them on numerous European charts. Muse's bombastic eclecticism would only grow from here. Their next round of albums incorporated more touches of classical music, church organs, Mellotrons, and various experimental effects, and by their third album, ‘Absolution,' they'd kicked off a consistent streak of topping the U.K. charts.

Since 2006's ‘Black Holes and Revelations,' they began to conquer the U.S. as well, and their live shows became more and more extravagant as their music became more and more dystopic. The high-tech worldwide tours backing 2009's ‘1984'-inspired ‘The Resistance' and 2012's ‘The Second Law' would prove them to be a must-see event, with massive light displays and film projections, pyrotechnics, and even an LED suit for Bellamy. Their next album, ‘Drones,' scored them a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2015, and gave them a good reason to incorporate real drones into their Drones Tour. Muse would continue on the surreal sci-fi path with 2018's synth-pop release ‘Simulation Theory' and a 2019 tour — quite possibly their most mind-blowing yet.

    Muse in Atlanta

by KG66 on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

This show was unbelievable! Muse was wonderful as a headliner. We'd seen them with U2 earlier and they rocked, but nothing like this show! Amazing light display! Amazing stage show! Great stage dynamics (platforms!!). Of course it is a given that the music was great! The entire experience was great - great parking, great event staff (very polite and helpful), seating, really everything. This is my new favorite "large" venue in Atlanta, or maybe anywhere in my area. Thanks to the Arena in Gwinnett for a great concert experience.

    MUSE IS ROCK!

by jnca7710 on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Muse combines crunchy guitars, keys, beats and powerful lyrics and creates a feeling of euphoria for its listeners. Bellamy is flawless whether he is ripping an awesome guitar solo, tickling the ivories or crooning with his amazing falsetto. Is there anything this man cannot do?? Rocktronica at its finest!

    The best?

by mleeman2 on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

I refrain from using absolutes, but MUSE may be the most talented and creative trio of all time. Inexplicable and indescibable sounds resonated throughout the arena while Matthew Bellamy unleashed his madness on, over, and across the stage. At one point, in between songs, he confessed to the crowd, "I think I split my lip." (How can one man possess, harness and command such formidable talents?) Music poured forth as a thunderstorm over the tempestous audience. The rockers were dazzling and unpredictable as they segued throughout their musical catologue from Showbiz to The Resistence with instrumentals and cover teases. An unprecedented bass/drum duet from the dynamic Christopher Wolstenholme and incomparable Dominic Howard kicked the onlookers square in the chest and the encore alone was worth price of admission. I encourage all to experiece MUSE live.

    Muse show was awesome~

by MuseFan78 on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

I highly recommend seeing a show if it's anywhere near you! Muse is in the States, playing at venues a fraction of the size they play at home in the UK. If we come out and show they are hugely welcome here, then they'll be back and play shows that rival the shows in the UK!! Matt Bellamy's energy and passion showed in every song~ such a spectacular performance!!

Best Concert I've Seen in Awhile

by Rizz67 on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

The mix between the audio and visual production that was unfolding infront of me was like no other. There sound was dead on with the right mix of volume. The Screens visuals were something right out of the Minority Report, and of course they always throw in some lasers to get the party started. In all, just a superb show.

This was great concert. The Arena at the Gwinnett Center was the perfect size. Sound was great and the theatrics, highly entertaining. What else would you expect from frontman Matt Belamy?

    Awesome!

by Uncledrewp on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

Show was just aweseme! My only complaint was that rude people were smoking cigarettes right in front of me and I could not breathe. Silver Sun Pickups kicked it off and they are great. I wish they played longer. The crowd got fired up from their great opening act. MUSE came out to the coolest stage setup I have ever seen. They opened with great energy and kept it up throughout the entire show. One of the best concerts I have been to.

    Muse

by Ohionative on 2/28/10The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Atlanta

Pretty great show, with most of the songs I wanted to hear. I would have liked a little bit less of the new stuff, like Guiding Light, with a couple of more oldies in the set, but overall a wonderful show!
