Stay home and watch on TV

by MonicaL on 8/27/14The Forum - Inglewood

After paying $175 per ticket I was very disappointed with the show that was presented to me. It's clear this is strictly a show for television, and not geared towards the attending audience at all. First, when you have a ticket to the show, you never see the red carpet. So forget any star sightings via the entrance. Then...you only see half the show. There is one show inside for you, with lights that face you so you can't see the performances, and so much fog that you can't see them when the lights aren't blinding you. There is the pre-show outside, where unbeknownst to you, MTV has already presented awards, and had several of the performers you thought you were going to see, perform. Then, there is the show outside during the telecast. More performers, performing outside, while you, who paid $175 a ticket, watch on a big screen. If you've never seen a show being recorded, it might be interesting, but I recommend going to see Ellen for free, and saving your $175 a ticket for a concert of your choosing. Pass on the VMAs.

It was fun. I was on the High Five Cam!

    by Michael120512 on 8/27/14The Forum - Inglewood

It's great to see the top performers live performing their biggest hits all in one place. The stage was beautiful and fun that they moved it around a lot but parts of it were so far away it was difficult to see who was speaking into the microphone. It's good they had the big screens, at least. I'd go again, probably, but I don't think it's for everyone.

    VMAs was worth it.

    by Drums12 on 8/27/14The Forum - Inglewood

It's always great to attend award events such as the VMAs and AMAs every year. I just wish there was an option to attend red carpet and VIP events prior to the show and have additional parking options for big events such as this one. I also had to wait outside until the doors opened.

Best event I have ever been to. The Barclays Center is the best venue in the US. Great view and amazing sound. Definitely would recommend going next year. All the celebs were seating right below me!

    JT Killed It

    by Desire72 on 8/29/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

My first VMA and it was an awesome experience! 30th Anniversary was great and all performances was entertaining but especially JT - performing for over15 mins without loosing his breath and showing the world what a True Artist is!!!!!!

    Well it's the VMAs

by twokidsfrombrooklyn on 8/29/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

So it was the VMAs and it was great to just be there. And I had excellent seats, theoretically...pretty much in the front. But I couldn't hear anything. None of Kevin Hart's commentary, none of the acceptance speeches and the sound on the performances terrible. It was definitely optimized for TV. I'm glad I TiVo'd it.

Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars MADE THE SHOW!!!!

by TonyaMC on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

The star power in the house was unbelievable. Barclay's never transformed so much from a Brooklyn Nets game to the VMA's and it was done IN STYLE!!! Justin Timberlake may not have been the first act, but he STARTED THE SHOW!!!! His 20 minute mini concert made it all worthwhile! Jimmy Fallon's award presentation to Justin sent goosebumps up my arms and spine. Well deserved! Bruno Mars performance was ELECTRIC! These 2 performers set the bar on how to perform. Follow them and you can never go wrong as an artist or professional. Excellent!!!!

    eh... too many commercials

    by myster530 on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

event was for tv. actual commercials meant 1 or 2 commercials shown on jumbotron with filler dj music in between while stage crews moved stuff around between acts. Justin timberlake was great. most of the performances were great. but the crowds and difficulty getting in coupled with the commercials between almost every act made it a kind of 'eh' experience. if they panned a camera over the celebrity section during commercials and showed that on jumbotron it would have killed the time and made the experience much much better there were multiple stages, and one of the stages was 100% blocked by a giant moon man blowup statue. 200 level is the highest section in the arena. could see the acts but the performers were tiny.

    The MTV Awards was fun!

by Shakhan on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

It was fun to be there but the seats were horrible. There was a giant moon man blocking two of the stages and the screen that was facing me. I could barely see the screen or the stage. If anything I could have stayed home to watch a screen.

A FANTASTIC Night out on the town!

by coocoolady on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I go to over 30 concerts a year but nothing topped the VMA's. Justin Timberlake absolutely out did himself with an incredible array of dancing & singing. Taylor Swift was having a fun time enjoying the festivities unlike Rihanna who seemed to be slouched in her seat with an evident bad attitude. The VMA'ts are to celebrate their fellow artists--Remember that Rihanna! Hats off to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis--They deserved to win twice; especially for writing & performing their most recent hit-"Same Love"-They are trend setting.

This was my first live VMA show & it will hopefully not be my last! It was such a good time like a big party concert & I totally forgot it was being taped.

    by Indiamorena624 on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Great experience , horrible seats. I never thought that the VMAs would be held in Brooklyn but it was here. I felt a sense of pride for my Brooklyn and my neighborhood. Thank you MTV and the Barclays center for hosting this history making experience here. May this be your new home for the VMAs. Yeah!!!

    Stoked above stokeness!!!

by Shienf on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

The show started on time because it was live. Lady Gaga's performance was incredible. Justin Timberlake's performance was spectacular especially with guests Nsync. Drake was fantastic as well and Bruno Mars had really cool effects. The entire show was well organized.

Barclays Center staff was wonderful and friendly. The event was shown on screens so even if you sat in the upper level you could still see what was happening. Remember it's not a concert but an “awards show for TV” so if you're into seeing how the production happens and a few really good performances then it’s a good experience. It’s worth getting tickets via Ticketmaster for “face value” but DO NOT pay hundreds of dollars to a third party. Save that money to see the artist at a real concert for the fans in the arena vice the fans on TV.

    MTV Video Music Awards

by Maurorless on 8/28/13Barclays Center - Brooklyn

This was a great experience. Took my 19 year old daughter for her Birthday and she Loved it! This was my second time at Barclay's and I have to say this is the only venue I really enjoy seeing concerts at. Your staff is wonderful from the staff at the door who greets you, the staff at the concession stands and your staff waiting to seat you....all wonderful. Our seats were ok considering that I was not in a position to be picky as it took me a while to score them but given the chance to be picky in the future I will avoid that section only because our row was the only way to get in and out, and being in seats 3 and 4 we def got an aerobic work out that evening! All in All a great time!
