About

LAURYN HILL IN CONCERT:

As a member of the Fugees and a decorated solo artist, the legendary Ms. Lauryn Hill broke new ground for female artists in hip hop, becoming one of the most dominant musical figures of the '90s and the first hip-hop artist to take home a Grammy for Album of the Year. With new material and a critically-acclaimed tour in 2013, Hill proved she hasn't lost her edge – or her voice – taking the stage with a full backing band and breathing new life into her catalog of hits with updated arrangements, extensive improvisation, and dramatic readings of her socially conscious verses.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Do not sleep on Lauryn! She is back. She was on point! This is what music has been missing!"

"The vibe was continuously raised to higher heights. What is quickly apparent is that this is no traditional act – from the beginning a very unique and nostalgic vibe is set through the familiar set list, but against brand new arrangements that drive the classic material head first into the multi-genre-infused present."

"Epic performance by Lauryn Hill. She killed it in every way possible. So happy I was able to be a part of it."

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hill rose to international fame when the Fugees' seminal 1996 album The Score topped charts around the world, earning a Grammy for her spellbinding cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly." The group’s dissolution in 1997 did nothing to hinder her success – 1998’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, her only solo studio album to date, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, landed a No. 1 single with “Doo Wop (That Thing)”, and took home five Grammys, including Album of the Year. A seasoned performer, Hill continued to impress fans in 2013 with her substance-over-style approach, building excitement for the much-anticipated 2014 release of her sophomore album Letters From Exile.

    Iconic and Raw

by Josuf on 4/8/24Toyota Arena - Ontario

The audios were a bit of a struggle but overall the performance was amazing. She sang the greats to her miseducation of Lauryn Hill album which in itself was legendary; still to this day is one of my top 5. She was raw and real with her performance. The highlight was the ending with songs from the fugees album. It was the icing on top.

    Disappointing Anniversary Show

    by BFM on 4/7/24

I attended Lauryn Hill's concert in Las Vegas for the 25th anniversary of "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,"and unfortunately, it was a letdown. The show started two hours late, which immediately dampened the mood for many attendees. When Lauryn Hill finally appeared, she seemed frustrated throughout the night, frequently complaining about the volume of her monitors. This created a tense atmosphere that felt disrespectful to the audience. I found the arrangements to be high energy but lacking the elegance and quality of her recorded music. The sound was unbalanced, with frequencies muddling the melodies, making the performance feel overly busy and far removed from the polished gems we know from her album. There was no encore, and the vibe was so off that people began leaving the venue before the last song even finished. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that didn't do justice to such an iconic album.

    Nostalgic yet Refreshing

by Uncle JJ on 3/24/24Scotiabank Arena - Toronto

The Afrocentric show was energetic, filled with memorable selections with a twist. Ms. Hill did not disappoint with her presence and incredible vocal talent. Despite Pras being denied entry into the country, Wyclef was able to electrify the crowd with his energy and showmanship. Original and remixed versions of Miseducation, and selected Fugee classics were definitely on point.

    Lauryn Hill concert

by JD on 12/4/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

She showed up 2 hours late and I'm pretty sure that's an all the time thing but it is just a bit taxing to not live in the area and have to make sure we're there on time and she shows up like somebody's drunk on tea at the last minute. Wells Fargo seats are really small but it turned out okay pretty much overall.

Ms. Lauryn Hill and the Fugees

by Jimmy on 12/2/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

One of the best concerts, I've ever been to. I've waited 25 years for this moment and Ms. Hill did not disappoint. The homage paid to local artists was dope. I felt like I took a time machine back to the 90's, and just wanted to stay there.

A Journey Of The FUGEES & Ms Lauryn Hill

by ACE on 12/1/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The fact her entire Band was from Philly and being a Drummer myself made me proud.. "It's A Philly Thang"🦅!!She was Amazing her Voice Sounded Great. She's a Wonderful Singer and ILL Lyricst and Poet.I really enjoyed The Fugee Reunion was down with them from day one since "Blunted On Reality"their debut album. I have to say first time I saw the Fugees was in Philly where I'm from at a place called The Trocadero. Great Theather is no longer there now. It was the Fugees, Queen Latifa and Ben Harper. This was just after the release of "The SCORE". It was a DOPE show too early FUGEES 🎸 I really love Lauryn Voice when she is Singing. But,I really love her Rhyme Skills She'll make most male MC's put down the 🎤. Her word play and cadences & mediphores are on point. She speaks of consciousness, reality, spirituality that's not even heard of in all the Mumbling in what some want to label as hip hop, not! I just remembered I saw the Fugees on "The Smokin Grooves Tour"The SCORE was out they were Blowing Up by them. I wish the Breakup never happened tho. I know what's like being in a Band also. I love the that they gave Love to Philly for Launching the Fugees Career with a record Label called Ruff House Records. The gave the Fugees their first record deal.Gave a shout out to Gamble & Huff Philadelphia International Records label Owners,Producers,Singer & Songwriters. Got a lot of love for Philly born & raised. Great Music City of course The Roots🥁 Jill Scott,John Legend,Bilal,Eve,Freeway, Black Thought,Schooly D,Meek Mills & 3xDope,100 x,Bahama Dia,The Delfonics Intruders, Harold Melvin & Blue Notes. And I could go..The Philly Sound✌🏾🤎🥁

    Epic Night!

by Crystal C. on 11/30/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Just saw the Philadelphia November 25th show. Fantastic! Superb! Outstanding! If you weren't there you missed an Epic night! Dejays Reborn and Quest Love kept the place rocking. People were dancing to a brilliant mix of music. Ms. Lauryn Hill came on at 10pm. She blew the roof off the house. Her vocals were strong and clearly have more depth than her younger days. She remixed the classic songs of Miseducation and periodically returned to give you a sample of the original version. Her brilliant creative artistry was on full display. Wyclef and the rest of the Fugees came out and reminded you of why they became stars in the industry. Wyclef killed 911. But what they did with Killing Me Softly was masterful. These artist are all still at the top of their game and understand the significance of being great performers. Add in the local artist that Ms Hill and the Fugees showcased like the Delfonics, the Outsiders and the old school rapper Freeway that can take younger rappers to class any day. This show was well put together. People left happy exclaiming how they had gotten more tjan their money's worth. I hope we don't have to wait so long for the next tour.

    Terrible mixing

by Tim on 11/29/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Lauryn was in great voice and I have no doubt that all the instrumentalists on stage were extremely talented but I couldn’t hear 95% of them. Lauryn’s sound was washed out and shouty and all I could hear otherwise were the bass and drums. Songs I’ve heard a thousand times were barely recognizable. I was thrilled to see her but this was a missed opportunity. I hope they figure it out for the rest of the tour.

    Interesting…to say the least

by Jenna on 11/28/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Well I expected more of an experience. Her performance did not meet my expectations. She’s such a legend and I was hoping to have a great experience, I’ll continue to listen on my Alexa but I will never give her a dollar to watch her perform live again.
