Inventive and experimental rock band Mr. Bungle's avant-garde style includes a unique blend of of instrumentation and genres that can include ska, death metal, jazz, lounge, pop, Middle Eastern, surf and funk, and more. Mr. Bungle's hybrid sound invites listeners on a sonic rollercoaster ride, hopping from genre to genre. This unique sound has amassed them a global cult following.
They released their first studio album, Mr. Bungle, after signing with Warner Bros in 1991. Their next album, Disco Volante, was released in 1995, followed by California in 1999. The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo was released as a full-length album in 2020.
With their genre-defying, sonic experimentation, there's never a dull moment at a Mr. Bungle concert.
Mr. Bungle Live in Concert
Having reunited in 2020, Mr. Bungle's lineup includes Mike Patton (lead vocals), Trey Spruance (lead guitar), Trevor Dunn (bass), Dave Lombardo (drums), and Scott Ian (rhythm guitar). Ian was a member of the pioneering thrash metal band Anthrax, and Lombardo was Slayer's former drummer and has worked with hardcore punk groups like the Suicidal Tendencies and Dead Cross. Patton and Spruance are original members of Mr. Bungle.
Originally formed in Eureka, California, by high school buddies, the first iteration of Mr. Bungle consisted of Dunn, Danny Heifetz (drums), Theo Lengyel (alto saxophone), Clinton McKinnon (tenor saxophone), Patton, and Spruance. The band's name comes from a '60s children's educational film that was later featured in Pee-wee Herman's first HBO special. Mr. Bungle reformed in 2020 for what was supposed to be three shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Brooklyn. The plan was to perform their 1986 demo -- The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo -- in its entirety, but demand for tickets was so high that additional nights were added, and the spark to tour was ignited.
Mr. Bungle's unique sound has influenced legendary artists like Korn, System of a Down, Incubus, and Uncle Kracker.
Thrash with a little bit of goofiness. Incredible show with some of the best musicians in the business.
My kids and I are huge Mike Patton fans. There was never any doubt I would enjoy the hell out of this show and I did!!
Disappointed they only played 1 song from the debut album, but overall an awesome show! Battles was different, but good also.
Great show . The band was tight and tossed in a couple nice surprises in there set . Scott Ian is a beast as always on the guitar . The Welmont is a great place for any show and will continue to go when someone I would like to see performs .
ALL PEOPLE SHOULD EXPERIENCE this super tight, elegantly crafted, professionally performed, high energy, and musical genius that is MR BUNGLE The Fillmore Philadelphia has excellent acoustics. This is especially a plus for heavy and intricate music. This made the show that much better. I'm sure the band would agree. The audience also makes the show what it is.. The audience on Sept 6th was no exception to that. They fed the energy back to the band. It was an encore demanding crowd. And MR BUNBLE delivered without compromise.
I flew in from Atlanta for this show And it did not disappoint. Been following these guys for awhile, The Fillmore was clean the staff was a delight and the music was bumpin.
The heaviest of metal. Satan was there & was impressed
Mr Bungle was awesome as always . Great mix of heavy and covers
When getting up in the front row to see one of your favorite bands, nothing compares. This show was amazing. I had so much fun! I even got the chance to meet 4/5 of the members ;) it wasn't expected but definitely unforgettable! These guys do not disappoint!
Both Battles and Mr. bungle put on a fantastic show. The venue was great as it always is. I had a wonderful evening
So I seen a lot of people comment about Mr. bungle on their current tour, not living up to their expectations because they’re not playing some of the stuff that got them into Mr. Margo in the first place. Well, I’m more of a metal thrash metal death metal type of person anyway, so they are playing now is way more my speed. I was thoroughly surprised when I saw them in San Francisco couple years back, also people think that the stuff they’re playing is new… But if you do your research, this was actually their first collection of songs on their latest release as Mr. Bungle before they switched out their sound to what most of you already know what or think of Mr. Bungle supposed to be. Keep this direction going Bungle!
Good show band was very tight. Opening act was way too loud. Wish Bungle played more than their new music. It has been twenty years since I last saw them and was disappointed not to hear some of what got me into them in the first place.
Oakland Fox Theater - The first band, Spotlights, was fine, the second band, Melvins, was great, and Mr. Bungle was excellent. The stage presence increased in excellence as the night progressed. It’s as if the bands went in order of greatness. Either way, they were all great to see. As one reviewer mentioned, the sound was a bit too bottom-heavy, making things difficult to enjoy for me. It’s just not my preference of sound. Since discovering Mr. Bungle on YouTube, I had hoped to see songs from their early days and albums. Unfortunately, the only songs that fulfilled this wish were the first and last song, the Welcome Back, Kotter theme song, and My Ass is on Fire. Perhaps it’s a sign of a past era or just not the direction the band wants to go in, but it is where I’d argue Mr. Bungle’s genius lies. I hope the band will add more classic Bungle songs to their setlist because, to me, they are more impressive and better sounding. Not to take away anything from their current work, I just prefer the classics.
This was honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen. The house of blues in Las Vegas is the perfect venue. I didn't now a whole lot about mr. bungle before seeing them and everything about them was so impressive I dont know where to begin. some of the most talented musicians playing at speeds I'll never be able to comprehend, it was a beautiful display of talent and speed and precision for sure. Will definitely be going back to house of blues and will be trying to see Mr. Bungle again.
Took bart to 19th st and 3 minute walk to venue. Theater is beautiful and clean. Show was good. Sound was a little bottom heavy which is preference based. Event could have used food but overall great show went both nights.
First I love the Fox Theater it is my favorite venue. The staff there went well beyond accommodating for me since I had a walker. All the bands put on an absolute stellar show.
All 3 bands brought it! Great pace, big songs, loud systems and stage presence. The crowd was cool and mostly invisible to me as I enjoyed my evening. Of course, much of the vocals were smothered by the instruments but that is normal. I ended up with an extra ticket and would have been jazzed if ticketmaster was allowing resales but oh well…
Melvins and Mr. Bungle on the same bill. Venue was cool and near other places to get drinks. Overall great show.
This was my first time attending The Union and I had the best expirience! Great show, friendly staff, clean and cool! I would definetly attend another event here.
Such a great band. Soo many metal gowns from the 90s
