  • The Blind Boys From Alabama was great

by JABloom on 6/7/11Lyell B Clay Concert Theatre - MorgantownRating: 4 out of 5

The Blind Boys from Alabama put on a great show started out with the title song from their new cd then went into Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready and so on. The band they had with where so professional.

  • Bell X1 and The Blind Boys were incredible!

All of the acts were incredible. Mountain Stage is one of the best venues to see any band. This is great for new artists and what a treat to see established perfomers appearing on Mountain Stage!

  • Wonderful venue, Blind Boys unforgettable!

This was our first visit to Mountain Stage and we would definitely return. I was skeptical about the general admission tickets, but we ended up with great seats. I doubt there are bad seats in the house. I didn't use my binoculars. The acts were all enjoyable, however we particularly liked Amy LaVere and Bell X1. But we went to see the Blind Boys and were not disappointed. They're the real deal! We had quite a drive from Wooster, Ohio, but the day was beautiful. It would be helpful if there were a sign out front at the driveway for the Lyell B Clay Theatre.

  • As always...

Great experience, as always. Courteous crowd - except for the glare of cell phone screens. Red Horse was entertaining as well as outstanding. I hope Mountain Stage is around for as long as I am!

  • Mountain Stage Rocks

All in all, Mountain Stage rocks. However, I was a little disappointed in Lucinda Williams' performance. There are performers and then there are entertainers. Ms. Williams is clearly in the former group. I would have thought that she could have been a little more prepared and not have to rely on sheet music to do a half a dozen tunes, no matter how new they are. On the other hand, I thought John Gorka and Red Horse were great as were the other lesser know groups who performed. But let me say one more time, Mountain Stage rocks!
