Loved the music and more than that, the staging, the dancing and the atmosphere of a real broadway performance. I have been to New York and have always said that nothing compares to Broadway. Well, I think I might have to revise my opinion after seeing this. It was that good. I had tears in my eyes at the end, just being so happy to be in a theatre again and feeling the wonderful energy. ELECTRIC!!
Absolutely amazing, the actors, the story, the singing, the dancing, the costumes, the set, absolutely everything was amazing!
The show was filled with energy and excitement while not forgetting the plot. I enjoyed so much that I’m going to see it again with my entire family.
To take on that challenge, the Broadway team doubled down on the music: the arranger, Justin Levine, stuffed the show with some 70 musical numbers (or fragments thereof) featuring the work of 161 songwriters from Edith Piaf to Mick Jagger to Katy Perry to Beyoncé Knowles; some of the new additions were not yet written when “Moulin Rouge” was released as a film. The set designer, Derek McLane, poured more red velour into his work than Broadway ever had seen. Phrases like “eye-popping extravaganza” surely are overused on Broadway but “Moulin Rouge” lived up to that billing. Its melodrama wasn’t for all tastes but, for many, it was the mother of all sexy date nights. And the presence of the show’s huge logo meant that the evening was Instagram-worthy from your seat.
This is truly a great musical. Enjoyed the mixing of popular songs. Scenery was spectacular. The ending was emotional. Which was OK! Cast also was very good. Great voices.
We had great seats in Row G. The cast was on fire! The leads, Christian and Satine were unforgettable, their chemistry was palpable and their singing was incredible with perfectly blended voices, with great emotion. There were funny, sad, rousing, heart palpitating moments. The dancers gave it their all. This is the show you can’t miss!!
Definitely worth to see it! You might be surprised if you saw the movie version/ the changed many songs, but I was wowed by the acting and singing as well as the production! In one word AMAZING experience

In my top 5 list from decades of shows. Singing. Song selection dancing. Audience enthusiasm. All excellent. Go…. Have some fun. Theater is back!
We went opening night in Chicago and the energy of the show was phenomenal. At the end, we both would have watched it immediately again if we thought the cast had any capacity to do such a great performance again! The songs from the movie are there and there are so many additional songs (or portions of songs in a medley) so creatively well done that my face hurt from smiling nearly the entire first act!
From the moment you walk in the theater, before the curtain rises the protagonists of the musical are already operating on stage. The core of the production is truly the Moulin Rouge night club itself. Opening night was a remarkable fete For everyone in attendance. The energy, the dancing, the music, and the actors were at peak levels. The Broadway cast, which we had seen in previews in New York, is no match for the national tour cast… We are ecstatic that Chicago and subsequently the rest of the country will get to experience this joyous production… The male lead, Connor Ryan, playing the forlorn American romantic Christian, is a remarkable find and I’m sure will soon be seen as a leading man in many Broadway productions.
My partner and I could not stop talking about this musical! Incredible performance and music just made you want to strut and dance! It is a must see! I do wish it was better organized with parking issues and QR code being scanned as well as just needing better organize to get into venue. Also sad the souvenir shop didn’t have any keychains in stock. Would def love to see a fun drink maybe called the can can or something that be catchy for the bar 😊
The show was a 10 ! Great opening night. Really enjoyed the experience. Only down fall was had to wear a mask even though everyone in there was vaccinated with proof of vaccination
I bought these tickets on a whim for a show to see during my birthday weekend and oh my was I surprised! This was an amazing show wayyyyy better than what I was expecting I’d love to go back and see it again!
Amazing performance. The set, the cast - everything was brilliant. Connor and Courtney had amazing chemistry. Their voices are beautiful individually and together. Perhaps expected after COVID - a few forgivable things need to be dialed in. We could “see” the nerves as things started. There were a few lulls where characters were clearly just speaking lines as if they were just learning them and at times the cast looked as if they were trying to find their proper place on stage. My wife and I also felt that volume levels for duets between Connor and Courtney need to be adjusted. Courtney overpowered Connor in almost all songs…leaving us wanting to tune her down just a touch to get more from Connor. We are excited to watch the movie next and will definitely return for an encore performance after the team is in a groove.
The sets. The singing. The songs! The voices. It’s funny. It’s poignant. It is the most amazing musical theater performance I have ever seen in my life! Go! See it now!

I was excited to finally see Moulin Rouge! The music, costumes and performances were fantastic. We all loved the show and the updated songs were really great. I'm going to try to go again before it leaves Chicago.
Stunning set design and lighting, absolutely beautiful! I was impressed through and through. Music updates were fun and creative. Some changes to the story and tone were disappointing, being a fan of the movie’s commitment to romantic tragedy. The musical left me wanting to watch the movie more than ever. Definitely enjoyable though!
Words cannot describe how amazing, colorful, and fantasic this show is. For my first Chicago broadway musical I cannot rave about this enough! The music, the laughter, and the amount of love in this production is beautiful.
