Direct from Las Vegas, ‘Motown Magic' meticulously recreates the legendary sounds and elegant style of the 60's and 70's.


Packed with a star line up featuring music from all of the Motown greats: The Temptations, The Four Tops, Diana Ross and The Supremes and Jackie Wilson.
Mario Maiolo presents a special evening of motown music, in a critically-acclaimed stage presentation for Australian audiences.


Mario Maiolo says, "The amazing talent in this show will have audiences thinking they are truly seeing the original artists. "It has created a new and younger audience who are now very much aware of Motown music".


‘Motown Magic' features the incredible vocal talents of artists who have performed throughout the world. Their portrayal of all the Motown greats and their incredible likeness to the sounds of the original artists have them constantly performing at all major venues in the US.


In addition to their sound, one of the key elements that distinguish these artists is their uniquely polished style and wardrobe. True to the era, ‘Motown Magic' features the most dazzling costumes and stylishly choreographed routines that are destined to captivate audiences into thinking they are truly back in the times of Motown.


ARTIST INFORMATION :


The Temptations
The Temptations were considered one of the most successful groups in music history, known worldwide for their recognisable choreography, distinct harmonies and definitive style.
Their hits included Oh Mother Of Mine, Check Yourself, My Girl, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, The Way You Do The Things You Do, Just My Imagination, Get Ready, Standing On The Top, and many others.
Recreating the sounds are Vernon Taylor, Dennis Inman, Nate Evans, Talmadge Pearsall and Grady Harrell. Nate Evans, is a former lead singer with The Temptations, being chosen by original member Dennis Edwards to replace the departed Eddie Kendricks. Therefore, the moves and arrangements performed by this group are an exact replica of the original Temptations show
Nate Evans was also the former lead singer of the rock and roll hall of fame group - Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions.
Award-winning songwriter Talmadge Pearsall with his sweet high tenor sounds, is a songwriter and is recipient of the 1999 R&B Satin Awards.
Vernon Taylor is a former Quincy Jones artist and former lead singer of The Drifters.
Dennis Inman known in the R&B industry for having one of the most powerful bass voices in the business, is also a former producer of such R&B groups Sugar Brown and Style Nine.
All five men stand tall as they take you back to the 60's, 70's and 80's with music that is truly Motown. These performers are considered the chosen five by David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and Dennis Edwards, to keep the sound of the Temptations alive and well.


The Four Tops
The Four Tops were one of Motown's most consistent and stable hitmakers in the 60's, charting with scores of upbeat love songs such as Baby I Need Your Loving, I Can't Help Myself, Ask The Lonely, Reach Out And I'll Be There, Standing In The Shadows Of Love, Still Water, and many others.
Recreating the unforgettable sounds of The Four Tops are four talented vocalists: Doyle Cole, Lewis Wright, Lawrence Jefferson and Terry Briggs; who as individual performers have decades of experience in the music industry and have performed with some of the biggest names in the music industry.
These four men make the magic happen epitomising smooth harmony with high energy and electrifying stage presence - music that is synonymous with great music thus encapsulating the performances of one of the premier song and dance groups of this era.


Diana Ross and The Supremes
Diana Ross and The Supremes' sound was so refreshing, the look so flawless, and the vibe so compelling - a dominance in the world pop arena which made them Motown's best-selling and significant recording artists.

Their hits included Where Did Our Love Go, Baby Love, I Hear A Symphony, You Keep Me Hangin¹ On, Reflections, Love Child, You Can¹t Hurry Love, Someday We¹ll Be Together, and many others.
Roz Thomas, Toni Mathews and Gwendolyn Moore-Forsythe perform an elegant tribute to Diana Ross and The Supremes with a style that is refreshing, sophisticated, and timeless. Together they bring masterful vocal interpretations of the classic Supremes sound.

Their background is extensive.
Roz Thomas' background in music and fashion design gives her the perfect foundation for her tribute to Diana Ross. Her rare quality has taken her to showrooms across Europe, Asia, Germany, Amsterdam, UK and the US. On stage she captures the very essence of Diana Ross with exquisite style and masterful interpretations.
Toni Mathews is also a musician and song writer who has performed live and participated on several CD recordings of many major recording artists such as George Duke, Roberta Flack, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and others too numerous to mention. With versatility that has taken her all over the world, she is one of the most diverse soulful and energetic females in the entertainment industry in Las Vegas.
Gwendolyn Moore-Forsythe is a lyricist and vocalist, who has performed with major recording artists, including the legendary Nancy Wilson. As a recording artist she had great success with I Need Your Loving. Her passion for acting has led to featured roles in The Sam Cooke Story and Billie Holiday, and was included on the soundtrack contributions.



Jackie Wilson
Jackie Wilson became one of the first R&B vocalists to enjoy success in the early rock and roll era and came to be regarded as one of the first great soul singers. His hits included Reet Petite, To Be Loved, That¹s Why, Lonely Teardrops, Please Tell Me Why, I¹m Comin¹ Back To You, and many others.
Recreating this legendary talent is Grady Harrell, who through combining his talents in singing, dancing and acting, has worked with a variety of well known music artists, as well as starring in acting roles on television. His stamina, talent, and love for music is strongly evident through his three solo albums: MWANA (1985), the Stevie Wonder produced Come Play With Me (1989) and Romance Me (1990).
He also played Jackie Wilson in the Emmy Award winning US miniseries based on the Jackson family - "The Jacksons: An American Dream". He is currently in the process of recording a new album.

    I didn’t really care for the show, they went too far back in time. I was looking for music more in the late 70’s, 80’s and later. This was a show for an older crowd and they really didn’t make me move or feel like dancing. I was very disappointed and so was my husband.
