The groups was fun and exciting. They proved that they truly love the music and performing; which gives the audience a great feeling.
It was a great night with enjoyable music, and stories.
I am a HUGE mowtown fan and to be able to enjoy this show was like taking a step back in time. The songs brought back so many memories and the performers were amazing! It just wasn't long enough. I could have listened all night.
I just enjoyed this show thoroughly. The mix of Christmas songs and old Motown was done expertly. In a word, the show was GREAT!
The music was great and brought back some good memories. I was lucky enough to see the Temptations and the 4 Tops plus many other Motown groups in their prime. The music will never die. Too bad the same could not be said for the audience. They were almost dead. I wanted to sand a rock to the music but it would have caused a big problem. This music needs to be danced to. No one even clapped or sang along. Sorry the audience was so lame. They did put on a great show and worked very hard. Good job.
Nice mix of classics and their take on Christmas Carols! Lots of energy, non-stop entertainment!
First let me say that although it was named Motown Christmas I was not expecting a Christmas show, more a Motown show. So, at first I was a little put off when every song was seasonal. But as the time went on they won me over. By the end of the show, I was a complete fan. Would recommend this show to anyone who loves the holidays and Motown music.
The band walked onstage, all white, and I began to wonder if we'd been had. Then the four black singers took the stage and did two awful songs with the band playing like a German ompah band. I was watching those around us and wondering if they were as disappointed as I was. Then the lead said, "Oh, I guess this isn't what you came for?", and they launched into classic Motown hits, wonderfully performed with delightful harmonies. We loved the show and were very pleased with our Row D seating. On the downside, we paid $9 for a small bag of cinnamon roasted pecans. They were awful, soggy and mushy, long on sugar and short on pecans. Lesson learned.
I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The singers still can belt out the old tunes and the songs were so much fun to sing along with. Great! Great! Great!
Love the Peabody. Loved the Show. What else can I say? The venue is so cozy and the atmosphere is inviting.
A Motown Christmas exceeded our expectations. The sound of Motown recalls great memories of a time past and to be truthful, we had some trepidation as to how it would be so many years later.....live. There is no question that it is alive and well and not just from the radio! These guys were still on top of their game and loving what they do. Their performances were bursting with energy, revamping that great motown sound we all grew up and sang along. They brought back most of the great #1 hits that we all remember from the Miracles and Temptations including an excellent version of Diana Ross and the Supreme hits. Not to be forgotten was an upbeat clapping selection of Christmas songs we all know and love...So happy we did not pass up going to this gem!
Don't miss this show. Im 66 years old, I remembered all the songs , we all, did , and we sang along when we could. Most exclnt fun, big Smiles the whole evening, serious FUN..They got some cool moves, great harmonizing.. Just go see it, your gonna have a good time.
What a great show !!! Look forward to seeing them again next year.
Great fun and those guys have still got great energy and can sing.
The wife and I are so glad we decided to take in this show. The entire program was a joy from beginning to end. The energy and spirit was non stop by the performers. We were amazed at the performance and would highly recommend this event. If repeated in 2014 we will be there !!! It was a unique blend of Christmas tunes as well as old favorites. I would rank this as one of the top ten events we have attended . The show went way beyond expectations .
If we are going to see oldie concertos there need to be some younger talent who carry the torch
Awesome! It was hard to sit still - they did all the Christmas songs in a Motown style and did tons of Motown hits. One of the guys is from the Miracles and they did all the Miracles big hits - the lead singer had a beautiful tenor like Smokey. Then they did a lot of Temptations and Jackson 5 and even some Stevie Wonder. People didn't want them to get off the stage. Great show.
I was disappointed from the advertisment I thought I would see some of the originals of the groups. There was one group of men I'd never heard or seen before . Singing motown songs but none of them were as stated in the ad. I have to check @ the theater befor I do this again to make sure I'm getting what I pay for.
At first I figured it would be just Christmas music, but when they went into the Motown hits it was totaly awesome. I thought I was back in the 60's when they hit the stage & started their routine. These guys had it all together & when they came into the crowd the people went nuts!
