MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK IN CONCERT:
Since bursting onto the scene in the early '00s with the rollicking single "The Future Freaks Me Out", pop punk rockers Motion City Soundtrack have continually impressed fans and critics alike with their shout-along hooks, punchy drums, and battling guitars. In concert frontman Justin Pierre belts out emo-tinged, tongue-in-cheek lyrics with his signature falsetto, infusing each song with raw emotion that's perfectly complemented by the band's infectious exuberance. Especially entertaining is keyboardist Jesse Johnson, who hops over his keys, cranks out the cowbell, and mans the moog synthesizer, which has become a staple of the band's sound. Known for bringing their “A” game whenever they hit the stage, Motion City Soundtrack fervently perform fan favorites like "Everything Is Alright”, "L.G. FUAD” and “My Favorite Accident” along with recent hits “Her Words Destroyed My Planet” and “True Romance" at their crowd-pleasing live shows.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Former high school friends Joshua Cain and Justin Pierre formed Motion City Soundtrack in Minneapolis in 1997. After multiple lineup changes, the band finally solidified in 2002 with the addition of bassist Matt Taylor, drummer Tony Thaxton, and keyboardist Jesse Johnson. Later that year they dropped their debut album I Am The Movie, which was re-released a year later by Epitaph Records after the breakout success of single "The Future Freaks Me Out". Their sophomore album, 2005's Commit This To Memory, was produced by Blink 182 bassist Matt Hoppus and boasted the hit single "Everything is Alright". Over the next few years the band toured extensively, both as a headlining act and as an opener on Blink 182's 2009 world tour, where they brought venues like Aztec Theatre to capacity. They made their major label debut in 2010 with My Dinosaur Life -- an edgier, more experimental album released on Columbia Records -- but they returned to Epitaph for 2012's Go. With their highly anticipated Commit This To Memory 10 Year Anniversary Tour slated for 2015, ticket buyers are jumping at the chance to see these veteran indie rockers in concert.

Walking into the Fillmore is almost like a religious experience, like church but better because there's beer, fast lines clean restrooms, and the amazing bands that rock every audience member to their core. The Motion City Soundtrack show was like a huge extended family reunion of elder emo kids, new fans, and everyone in-between, all singing and rocking out to the music we grew up with. If I could relive it, I would.
Motion City played a great show, they included songs from all albums and sounded great!
Ticketmaster, the venue, and all information provided said it started at 6:30p with no hint that there were any acts prior, so we got there. . .and waited. . and waited (and this is no re-entry venue) and at 7:30p we got a random, sad comedian. After that, at 8pm, we had a horrendous country rock band that was so loud and imbalanced it was painful to sit through. MCS didn't go on until 8:50p. We had waited 2 hours and still their sound was not balanced - it was hard to hear the main singer, because the instruments so easily drowned out the sound. We left halfway through, because we were hungry and had been waiting until after the show to eat, but didn't expect it to get out 4 hours after doors open. On the way out, I made the comment that they sounded so much better outside of the venue. Sad. I really like this band. I could've saved the money and creeped out on the street with pizza and had a better time.
Motion city soundtrack sounded amazing, just like the tapes, and played a lot of songs. But I could see it being a bit boring for people who don’t like the music. Because there isn’t really a “stage show” they just played. They played absolutely fantastic, but just played. I heavily recommend any fan of there music to go to one of there concerts:)
Had an amazing time! It was so cool to see such a phenomenal band preform live. I really wish the sound techs were better since Ace of Spades is a small venue so it didn't need to be as loud as it was but other than that it was fire! The band, which is the real experience, was amazing!
The concert was a blast! My wofe is the fan who wanted to go for her bday, so i bought her the tickets wayyyy back when before covid. Long story short, the system was easy to keep tabs on my tickets and it kept me informed of what is happening and what to expect. The only reason I didn't go full 5star was because i am not a fan of the venue. Not a fan of their security, or their accommodations. Really wish it happened somewhere else.
My sister got my boyfriend and I tickets for Christmas and it was the BEST late Christmas gift ever! We ended up getting barricade and it was so much fun. Great atmosphere and overall great experience!
I gave my boyfriend these tickets to see mtc and he has been a fan for years and years. We both had an amazing time and it was such a great atmosphere. 10/10.
I hadn't seen them in over 15 years and they sounded even better than they did before. I've been to a lot of shows and this was the cleanest I have ever heard anybody. The energy was amazing, with dudes hugging strangers and singing 'Tell me that your alright!' Better than all that, my son brought a friend to this, his first punk-ish show. He didn't know the band or the words but he danced and swayed arm-in-arm with the people around him. Midway through the show I lost sight of him and then I saw him, being hoisted into the air to crowd-surf. MCS and my beautiful punk people, that's how you make memories! Thank you!!!
Getting in and out was super easy and efficient. Had plenty of bar tenders so waiting for drinks was quick and easy. Show started later than expected but motion city soundtrack played around 20 songs. They sound just like they do on their albums. Great concert.
The show and experience at the House of Blues were flawless. The experience with ticket master though was a bit annoying since the website page with my tickets wouldn't load at the day of the show for me to retrieve them. The process wasn't good and the customer support wasn't that easy to access either.
MCS just knows how to put on a fantastic show. Opening to closing. Interaction with the crowd and stuff. Originally scheduled for February but Covid had other plans. Glad I was able to make it. I'll see them again if they tour again in the future.
Worth the wait, Motion City Soundtrack absolutely killed it. Was here in 2020 and their performance this time was better in every way
Seen they a few times. They are super tight. They always put on a great show.
This time I mean it. Motion City Soundtrack is one of my favorite bands. It all started in the early 2000s when I heard them on a sampler CD. I know I’m old. Ever since I have seen them countless times and always have a great time. No matter on what the crowd is doing, I enjoy clapping along, the dance moves, the call backs “I like you”. If you like their music you’ll love their live performance! Go see them live.
They brought the energy, we brought the energy. Friggin awesome show all around. They said we had the best energy so far of the tour and I hope we’re still at the top!
Just wish there was a meet and greet after the show
My first time at house of blues. My 6th or 7th time seeing mcs. Bartenders were on point. It was a great show!
Motion City Soundtrack ALWAYS exceeds my expectations. They played Commit This to Memory in its entirety for the 17th anniversary of the album, and ended it with 10 fan faves as the cherry on top. House of Blues in Orlando is always fun to go to a show at and the sound is great no matter where youre located! I had an amazing time and hope to see MCS again soon!
