About

Monica is a multi-platinum-selling R&B singer from College Park, Georgia. Born Monica Denise Brown, the eponymous star burst onto the scene in the mid-’90s thanks to the release of her debut studio album, Miss Thang (1995). After amassing a trio of charttoppers on the R&B charts with “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days),” “Like This and Like That” and “Before You Walk Out of My Life,” Monica earned a record-breaking No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “The Boy Is Mine,” her 1998 duet with Brandy. The song spent 13 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart, served as the title track off Monica’s sophomore album and ultimately became one of the best-selling female duets of all time. Other studio sets in the singer’s discography include All Eyez on Me (2002), After the Storm (2003), The Makings of Me (2006), Still Standing (2010), New Life (2012) and Code Red (2015). In 2025, Monica reunited with Brandy for the duo’s first-ever co-headlining tour across the U.S., The Boy Is Mine Tour.

  • True Vocalist

by JLH1 on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Grammy-Award winning singer Monica absolutely rocked the House of Blues in Atlantic City this past May 1. This woman is probably the preeminent vocalist in R&B music right now. I know everyone has their personal favorite, but Monica took the stage and did what most artist don't and can't do, she use her GOD given vocal talent and everyone loved it! She took us all the way back to 1995 with "Don't Take It Personal" all the way to 2010 with her latest #1 Hit "Everything To Me." I think this was practice for her upcoming tour later this summer, but nonetheless she WOWED. I'm telling you, if she isn't nominated for multiple Grammy's this year, then the industry has totally lost its soul and hearing! She should be a LOCK for Best R&B Female Vocal Performance and it should be televised. Monica should have had a live band with her, but she still held up and even gave several selection's accapella. Her accapella renidition of "For You I Will" is a testament to her powerful voice and a throwback to female vocalicts of yesteryear.

  • Monica was amazing

by abbaDabs1 on 5/2/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

The show was awesome. I forgot just how many hit singles she had! From "Don't take it personal" to "Everything to me" Monica We Missed You! Glad to see you back, with real R& B. My only gripe was the venue listed the show for 8 PM, and Monica came on at 10:00. Monica killed it when she came on, but the long wait was annoying. HOB needs to advertise the correct time for their shows....Monica We Love You!

  • Monica deserves a bigger & better arena!!!

    by number1monicafan on 4/1/10Mardi Gras - JacksonRating: 3 out of 5

Monica's performance was of course the best of the best. I was just frustrated that the venue that was selected was a club & that she only performed for maybe an hour & a 1/2 versus the potential 5 hours of a full repertoire.

  • Awesome!

    by Stevenmc8602 on 3/26/10Mardi Gras - JacksonRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the concert. She was very interactive with the crowd and she sung a decent amount of songs. She was on stage for a little over an hour. The only complaint is she only sung 1 song off the new cd!

I loved monica and her performance. The venue on the other hand was not the best. I will not be attending anything else at this venue.

  • Monica Has True Talent!!

by msgo on 3/23/10Mardi Gras - JacksonRating: 3 out of 5

Monica has a beautiful voice and is very talented but I will never ever attend another concert at a club the experience was horrible !! The club was packed there was not enough seating and Monica did come onto stage until after midnight and the show was suppose to start at 9 FYI do not keep your fans waiting that long to see you !!

  • Not worth the Ticket Price

by cparks on 3/22/10Mardi Gras - JacksonRating: 1 out of 5

This concert sucked ( for a lack of better words). Not worth even being called a concert! The tickets said 2nd row and there was not even any seating, it was at a club! So whereever you pushed your way too in that crowded sweatbox is where you saw Monica. Lines were ridiuclous and we Waited from 9 to Midnight on Monica and when she finally came out at midnight, she sang (mostly acapella) bcuz the sound was screwed up and then left after about 40 minutes!!!

  • MONICA WAS GREAT!!

  • Monica Did Good

by pound on 3/21/10Mardi Gras - JacksonRating: 2 out of 5

Monica really had a good set but the overall experience was bad. We had to stand in line for an hour with tickets. The building was to small and did not have enough tables or chairs. We got inside around 9:15 but Monica didnt come on untill 12:30. We stood up the whole time it was hot and to packed inside.

  • Worse Concert I have EVER attended!!!

by JEHanna on 3/16/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5

I am extremely dissappointed with this concert. Monica was very late so the opening acts had to stretch out their performances to compensate. We were then told that she was very sick...so now after waiting for hours for her to arrive; we got 30 minutes or so of a sick Monica. She kindly informed us that the building had to be vacated by a certain time so she was being forced to end the show...Um...YOU WERE LATE MONICA...If good faith the show should have been cancelled and rescheduled in advance. Now at this point...our monies should be refunded or a she should come back and perform for us again at no charge. I am still a fan of her music...but my opinion of her has drastically changed...She never even offered an apology, which would have been greatly appreciated.

  • monica owes baltimore

    by LuvLe on 2/11/10lyric - baltimore,mdRating: 2 out of 5

That show at the lyric was triff way 2 many opening acts monica yes she sounded great but she was on stage 4 less then 30 min. She should come back in do a free show 4 everybody who paid for those stinkey tickets.

  • Disappointed Fan

    by 1913Kat on 1/23/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 3 out of 5

I was very excited to see Eric Roberson for me Monica was a perk; I am a diehard ERRO fan... To my disappointment many of the other fans who were there to see Monica "ONLY" wanted to see Monica. I have never been to a show where the audience showed so much disrespect to the opening artist. I was truly embarrassed to be a part of the audience. I believe if the audience would have relaxed they would have been introduced to a musical and lyrical genius. My advice would be if you are not interested in seeing an opening act, then maybe you should come late... On another note Monica was wonderful as I knew she would be. She was sick and could barely speak but she was still able to deliver beautiful music.

  • Very Disappointed!

Neva will i go to a Monica show again in my life! So many unknown artist were on the stage that i didnt want to see An Paula Campbell so underated the show was jus horrible An if you are a performer dont come on the stage lookin a mess For all that Monica should have went to the club to perform It was jus no excuse u know i understand you were sick but its not fair we had to wait for 3 hours cus you were sick you shoulda jus canceled That woulda been better cus you only performed 4/5 songs an that wasnt even full length An for someone not to be out for a long time you woulda thought there show would be on point it was jus horrible!! It was jus a waste of time.. money.. an lookin cute!

  • Never Again

    by Davone50 on 1/20/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5

It was the wrost show ever we had to wait 3 hours 4 her to come out and then she only song for about 15 min. And the show was over.

  • Monica Show

    by BadGirl528 on 1/20/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

The show started late and even though Paula Campbell was amazing, Algebra was great and Eric Roberson was very enjoyable, I was very disappointed with the length that Monica stayed on. I know she couldn't stay forever.....but I was hoping for more songs, although she did an amazing job even though she was sick. I hope that she comes back, let Eric Roberson open and then her and her band (not a DJ) rock the place.

  • "Loved, Loved, Loved Monica"

by DivaStyleofMusic on 1/19/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

Monica was sick, but she came any way to perform, did not perform long enough, but I could understand, you could her the sickness in her voice when she was talking, but "Oh My God", the girl has a beautiful and powerful singing voice.

  • MONICA SHOW

by KIKIMIMI on 1/19/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5

I THINK WE SHOUL GET OUR MONEY BACK BECAUSE WE PAYED MONY TO SEE MONICA AND SHE WAS ON THE STAGE FOR ONLY 30 MINS

  • The Worst

by LoveAlways on 1/19/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5

It was "The Worst" show I've ever attended. They were 4 opening acts. No one ever told us that Monica was running late/possibly not coming. Then she shows up without a band, singing over records. The kicker was the amount of time she stayed on stage...a whopping 35 minutes! I couldn't believe it. Still can't! I was a HUGE fan before Friday night. I had never seen Monica perform live (not via TV), so I was so excited to see her and for this to be my intro to her...I can't say how very disappointed I was/am. Not sure IF I'll ever watch her TV show again (I don't watch TV much, her show was an exception). Thanks for allowing me to voice my opinion.

  • by targea on 1/19/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 2 out of 5

I am a really big fan of monica I just feel like she did not stay on stage long we waited for her all night for 30 mins of her time. I was upset but yes she did sing some songs I like but they were to fast. If she was sick I rather she reschedule the show I still like her but as far as going again it would have to be a longer show to many people on before her they stayed on lomger than she did.

  • Neva Again

    by Kimmie26 on 1/18/10Lyric Opera House - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5

All opening act was more like being at the Apollo.....Monica is a great singer, but this concert was whack, she didnt show until 11 and was gone by 11:15, she was sick. It was a complete waste of time, beauty and money
