About

MOE. IN CONCERT:

When it comes to taking risks on stage, few bands lay it all on the line like beloved jam rockers moe. Whether they're tackling fan favorites like "Plane Crash" or whipping up a creative cover of Paul Simon's "Late in the Evening", moe. remain rigorously dedicated to live improvisation and experimentation, delivering their sets with a sense of humor and showmanship that make them one of the most entertaining acts in the business. Festival favorites who've played Bonnaroo five times and counting, moe. continue to deliver the jams on their fun-filled tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Moe. was formed by a group of University of Buffalo students who got together in 1989 to perform at a friend's Halloween party. They continued to play together over the next several years, and in 1992 they released their debut album Fatboy. The band's impressive live shows helped establish them in the New York region, and by the time their 1994 sophomore album Headseed was released the members had all quit their day jobs and relocated to Albany to focus on the project full-time.  The band continued to release solid albums, and by the '00s they were appearing to adoring throngs at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, where their 2002 set earned them a Jammy Award (the jam band equivalent of a Grammy). Moe. released their 11th studio album No Guts, No Glory! in 2014, and they continue to create plenty of on-the-fly magic on their unforgettable tours.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"This was an incredible performance by a group of extremely talented musicians. They seemed passionate about giving a great show to their fans and played a very long set that never had a dull moment."

"Typical moe., Tons of Energy, Awesome Jams and the Buddha was there with full on horns to compliment the songs.

"moe. never disappoints. Cookin Songs. Heavy Jammin'. This is all you need to know."

  • Great show in a down-market venue...

by AlabamaDavid on 7/19/09Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

Actually the title says it all. Moe knew they had an afternoon crowd in a dump of a venue, and played a pretty good set anyway. Toward the end, from "Sensory Deprivation" on out, they gave us what we came for. I'll be back every time Moe comes to Atlanta, but hopefully they can get booked into a real place next time.

  • Ratdog never disappoints!!!!!

Its been several years since I've seen Ratdog, and they seem to get better with age. I've never seen Moe and I really enjoyed their set too. They are very solid musicians. The crowd was very cool and we had a great time. Just One More Saturday Night. My wife said that the port-a-potties didn't stink so that was a plus also. Buddy.

Great venue! Moe. rules! I loved being so close without the tight crowd.

  • Moe. Rocked the house

by BeeBopp on 7/17/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the show was great! The first set started off a little slow but they made up for it with an awesome second set. I had a great time.

  • moe. rocked

by eerae on 7/17/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

moe. put on a great show last night at the Pageant. I'm really getting into this band, they consistently put on a rockin show every time and have never disappointed. After All Roads lead to Home, they played nonstop for like 47 minutes. I didn't know all of the songs, but they were all definitely tight. I got pretty close during the second set and Rob looked pretty high or something, but still kicked ass.

  • Want more of Moe

by jritzko on 7/17/09The Pageant - St LouisRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing and listening to Moe last night at The Pageant. Opening song was slow but the show quickly livened up thereafter. Only had time to stay for the first set which was fantastic! Enthusiastic musicians and fans in tune with each other. Great jams and literally no lulls the entire set. Dueling guitars meshed well with laid back bass player and good percussion....even the traditional washboard added zest to the set. Can't wait to do more Moe!

  • Moe. was just right at the Showbox

by ElJay on 7/15/09Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Moe. Is the quintessential rock and role band…with a vibraphone player! We’ve been fans of their music for a while but this was our first time seeing them live and these guys were really rocking. Most of the folks we met at the show were following them to 1 or 2 of their next shows (One guy was planning to follow them all the way to The Bannaroo Music Festival!) and after seeing them live I can see why. The night was a real experience as they started with one of my favorite Moe songs Captain America and finished the night was a truly incredible rendition of Pink Floyd’s “One of these Days”. This is a band that you have to truly experience live!

  • The fantastic evolution of moe.

by Gratefuldennis on 7/13/09Ventura Theatre - VenturaRating: 5 out of 5

I asked my friend who is also a musician who went with me how he would describe the show. He simply said; “magic.” It was not only the best moe show I ever saw but probably the best concert I ever saw ever. This statement is from an old guy that saw Bob Dylan in 1965, was at the Monterey Pop Festival, and of course a dead head. The audience and the band share an amazing experience together except for the ones that ingest too much alcohol which makes it harder to get into the space for the journey into the cosmic soup of consciousness, but I am sure they enjoyed it also in their own space. Moe is a group that I recommend experiencing live to really enjoy what they do. They are all excellent musicians and blend and fuse their talents to take you in and out of various musical journeys. Both guitarist Chuck and Al are up there with the guitar legends. Vinnie’s hypnotic drum rhythms are essential to the moe experience and Jimmy’s percussion talents with a variety of instruments including his sometimes Zappaesque vibes are a treat in themselves. And of course Rob’s base playing which grabs you into his rhythms filling the moe sound and creating a musical vibration. I am looking forward to more moe with more nights at one venue. Peace, Gratefuldennis

by lottacrlz on 7/13/09Roxy Theatre - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to a number of moe. concerts on the East Coast as well as the West. The Roxy was a perfect night! The venue was great, you could get right up to the stage without worrying that you were going to be squished by the crowd. We met some really great people too. This was my favorite moe. show!

Great show, except the band coming on 45 minutes late and catching that sudden storm during the encore.

Moe at the brewery seems like it's a far better time. I enjoyed the concert but not too much of a fan of slow moe.
