About

MODEST MOUSE IN CONCERT:

Indie rock veterans Modest Mouse enjoy a level of mainstream success that few other indie acts can touch. While the band's intelligent lyrics and expertly crafted songs made them critical darlings in the early '00s, their eclectic live shows earned them legions of fans. With their first new album in five years due out in 2014, Modest Mouse are gearing up for headlining slots at the Boston Calling and Shaky Knees music festivals. Fans lucky enough to catch the band at these rare appearances will be among the first to hear material from the new album — performed alongside all of their greatest hits, of course.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Washington in 1993, Modest Mouse found an early home on legendary indie labels K Records and Sub Pop. After moving to Up Records for their 1996 debut full-length, the band achieved breakthrough success with 1997's Lonesome Crowded West, which drew praise from critics and earned them a cult following. While 2000's The Moon & Antarctica was another success, it was 2004's Good News for People Who Love Bad News that really broke things wide open — the album went multi-platinum and brought the band their first chart exposure with hit singles "Float On" and "Ocean Breathes Salty." In 2007, the band's fifth studio album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank landed at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, effectively rendering their indie status null and securing their position as a festival headline-caliber act.

Previously, Modest Mouse has sold out venues to capacity, like Tabernacle and the Rose Bowl.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"They were honestly amazing. They played with so much energy, played about 20 songs, and absolutely tore the place down. A must see if you get a chance."

"The sounds, the lights, and the crowd were unbelievable. Isaac really blows your mind, his beautiful music and lyrics had the entire crowd swaying with their eyes closed. It was an event I will never forget..."

"Modest Mouse put on an amazing show. Every song sounded even better than the studio version."

    Modest Mouse Not So Modest

    by sahara229 on 8/26/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Great Music. Took WAY too long to set up (1 hour) Took WAY too long to come back out for encore (10 minutes?!) Never played Float On or Ocean Breathes Salty.

    Awesome show

by ModestFan on 8/26/09Aragon Ballroom - Chicago

Awesome show.. No oppening act. The band came on and did there thing. About a two hour show. 2 drummers a base and a rhythm guitar provide a solid rhythm section for Isaac to blast screaming vocals and screaching guitar over. a few new songs intermixed with old classics. Great time.

by 6BlindMice on 8/26/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

Modest Mouse ALWAYS puts on a good show. The set list was almost perfect and the venue was nice too. Wish they would've done some more older stuff, but it was still amazing nonetheless. Can't wait to see them again!

by Modest on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

What a great concert. Modest Mouse knows how to rythmically motivate themselves as well as their audience into enjoying their 2 hour long concert in only a way that can be described as culmination of their talent and the crowd's antcipation to see a truely remarkable band play.

by Thegoodtimes on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

My friend and I drove all the way from Detroit to see this show, and believe me, it was completely worth it. They are unbelievable live. Opening with Satin in a Coffin, they continued to blow our minds throughout the entirety of the show. They faked ending the show and when they came back out, the crowd went insane. Amazing.

Great Show, Great Variety, Too much Weed Smoke

by Sooperjenni on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

This was such a great show! They opened with Dead not Sleeping and got the audience pumped. They played a great variety from all their albus, including Float On, Cities made of Ashes, and some stuff off the new album. I haven't quite memorized the song names yet. They had tons of equipment on stage so they were able to pull off all of the effects and filters we all know. They busted out the accordion, banjo, and the Trumpet. Modest Mouse play an awesome loud show. I was very pleased. I guess I only have one complaint, and that is withthe venue. There needs to be a non-smoking section of grass. There is so much pot smoke and cigarette smoke that it makes me feel sick, and I come home reeking of it. I have kids and a job, and it is embarassing to have to sift through all my stuff to make sure it smells ok. Contrarily, the event staff did an excellent job with drunk control and handsey boyfriends who were seen smacking around their chicks. They stepped up right away and dealt with what I saw.

    Float on to Columbus

by LizJuice on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

The Lifestyle Communities Pavilion is a great place for an outdoor show! We had a great spot on the lawn, and we didn't feel crowded at all. Beer was reasonably priced, and the women's bathroom was clean enough. The opening band for Modest Mouse was The Dutchess and the Duke, a folk/punk sound. I was a big fan of them. MODEST MOUSE was just great! The show exceeded all of my expectations. Great sound, great light settup, great set list. I'd definitely go again!

Modest Mouse put on a great show. They sounded just like their albums. They played songs people wanted to hear, they didnt flood us with new songs from new album although I personally wouldnt have minded. They did play a couple of new songs and they sounded great. Earth-shattering

by JDanger on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

We drove over to Columbus from Pittsburgh and it was deffinetly worth it. I've never seen a show like that in my life. Issac Brock is by far the most amazing song writer. During this show they played around half the songs off of their new album and did a lot of their old stuff. It was a 3 hour show and i enjoyed every minute of it. Incredible, simply incredible.

If you like Modest Mouse, you MUST see them live!

by Bobbasaki on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

I have been a huge Modest Mouse fan for about 7 years now, and this was the first time I have seen them live. Absolutely amazing! The sheer intensity that Isaac Brock sings with in every single song is enough to go see them. Let alone the fact that every member of that band goes all out all concert long. Not sure what to say besides, you MUST see Modest Mouse live if you even remotely like them.

Modest with a not so normal set list

by RedRyder on 8/25/09Lifestyle Communities Pavilion - Columbus

They played an amazing compilation of songs including 3 new ones from the vynal releases. A lot of songs off of Good news as well. Opening with Satin In a Coffin seems to be the par because they did the same thing at tower city last year. Made the trip from cleveland to see this show and it was well worth it.
