    Like watching MJ himself!

by Tammy on 5/14/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

Maybe one of the best musicals I’ve ever seen. It was like watching MJ himself. He looked like MJ, sounded like MJ, danced like MJ. Absolutely mesmerizing. We enjoyed every second of it.

    What a thrill…er!

by Goosebumps on 5/14/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

What a show! My husband leaned over after the fourth song and said he had goosebumps! Dazzled isn’t a strong enough word to describe this amazing show! It also pointed out that no one truly understands another individual’s life. If you are wondering…just go see it! You won’t be disappointed!

    FANTASTIC

by Queenj on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

This musical was a 10/10. It was a great experience, I felt like I was included in the show not just watching it. Love it sooo much and it was a bonus that some of my favorite songs were performed. The cast was beautiful and their singing was on point.

    Spot on Michaels!

by CaliJana on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

What a fun musical! The three versions of Michael (young, teen and adult) were spot-on in their singing, speaking and dancing. The creators creatively managed to weave in a good bit of MJ's library (a feat in itself). I nearly cried at the beautiful duet of "I'll Be There,"and the haunting opening to "Thriller,"with young Michael singing the opening lines out into the dark, then the adult Michael joining in. The dancing was outstanding, too, of course. The character who played both Joseph (the father) and Rob (the manager) was so good at both roles! The woman who played the interviewer spoke a little too softly for my liking, but her singing voice was excellent (tho she did little of that). I waited with bated breath for "Man in the Mirror,"and sadly wasn't a huge fan of how they performed it as a choir, although I understand the intent behind doing it that way. I would have appreciated the inclusion of Lisa Marie Presley and how that influenced a song or two, but I get why the left it out. The musical does a nice job honoring Michael as a human and helping us understand, or at least appreciate, some of his idiosyncrasies. Michael Jackson's presence on this earth is sorely missed--his voice, dancing, and other-worldly talent. MJ the Musical is a bit of salve in that enduring wound, and a sweet reminder of his impact on all of us. We saw the show in Kansas City and sat behind a row of very tall people and had a hard time seeing, which was a bummer. But other than that, the show was a thriller!

    Next best thing

by Kellie on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

This was the best Michael experience. It was So honest about his life and music. So much I didn’t know. Loved his music growing up and this allowed us to experience behind the music and his struggles mentally, physically and financially. The music was so good and felt like we were at a concert.

MJ still a sign of "today's"times

by JVJ on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

Hi it was a very reflective musical play for me about the signs of the times then and now, best exemplified by music. We can play ALL MJ's music now and the young generation would think he's a new artist! Each American needs to look in the mirror and "....change our ways"! All actors/dancers were talented and it was SO enjoyable and exciting to see ALL the male Black talent!!!! Great play I'd pay to see it again!

    Fascinating show

by Mandy S on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

I absolutely loved MJ. The way his story was told was so fascinating and I loved many of the director's choices for the characters. The music was great, of course. The lead sounded, looked, and moved just like MJ and the whole cast was just incredible. I thought the story gave a glimpse into the realities of his life and addressed the controversies in a tasteful way.

    Not the best

by SW on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

The lead spoke softly but too soft. Missed most of his dialogue. Mic needed to be turned up. The music was good and the singing. The story was boring. Did not compare to Tina, Beautiful or other similar shows.

    An absolutely fabulous musical

by DorothyfromKansas on 5/13/24Music Hall Kansas City - Kansas City

I wasn't sure what to expect but now having seen MJ I was blown away. The music, dancing, storyline. I see Michael in a different light. But the walk through time & the memories the music the Jackson 5 brought the world (and the hard work & sacrifice) was indescribable.
