Mizzou Tigers Football History

The University of Missouri put together its first football team in 1890, and the program enjoyed immediate success. They won a share of the Western Interstate University Football Association title in 1893,1894 and 1895. In 1907, Missouri joined what would later become the Big 12 Conference, and in the process formed heated rivalries with Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Iowa State.

Don Faurot led Missouri to two periods of success as Missouri's head football coach and athletic director, first from 1935-1942 and then from 1946-1956. They made multiple bowl games in that span. In 1972, the university honored Faurot by naming the playing surface at Memorial Stadium in his honor. Under Gary Pinkel, who coached the Tigers from 2001 to 2015, Missouri shared three Big 12 North titles and won two SEC East championships (2013 and 2014).

Missouri has had legends pass through the program, including Pro Football Hall of Famers tight end Kellen Winslow Sr. and cornerback Roger Wehrli.

The Tigers have won 15 conference titles, including 12 Big 8 championships.

by TJX1033 on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

The Mizzou tigers made q great start. Then they were behind a little, but eventally they were able to catch up and manage to hang on to the end of the games. They were incredible football team. I wish them a better season.

    Mizzou in the Lou

by MizzouMarv on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

The Missouri/Memphis football game at America's Dome was exciting & it gets a 5 Star rating from me because Mizzou won. The Dome is a little old & since it doesn't have many events the concession stands were understaffed & under supplied. The turf looked worn, but other than that it was a good venue.

I was not impressed with field looking old. But overall I enjoy the game and rally.

    Great Time with Friends

by Murf on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

All things considered, it was a Grand Evening!! No problems transferring tkts - easy access to Stadium - lots of concessions - only disaster was the score & who won!!

great Mizzou w/e in the Lou

by RT on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Always fun and better when you win. Opportunity to showcase Tigers the real deal. Tiger play calling a little suspect. Use the great receivers, and QB has pretty accurate arm. The physicality of the dome was disappointing. Lighting needs improvement, playing surface old and out dated, video boards old. Concessions overwhelmed. Long, long lines. It would be nice to play in dome more often, only if facilities get a major overhaul. Try Busch stadium next year!

    Easy Peasy

by Davie on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Wow. What an amazing service. First time used. Now I can get emails forever. Not harassment but encouragement to use again. Amazing.

The Dome is good for tractor pulls or a rodeo.

by Sad Tiger on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

The field might be 30 years old. The score board doesn't show replays and is small. Lines for beverages is at least a 20-minute wait,. It is a dump!

    So little care

by Trivmonster on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Besides the field being flat out awful, the whole event was an exhibition of how not to do something. Lines at the concession stand were incredibly long because of ineptness and and inability to handle the cashless direction that was chosen. Ushers were few and far between with three different ones telling me that they didn't know the facility very well. The entire experience was not up to par for what should have been a big time college event.

    Embarrassing

by Dino on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

I was embarrassed for the city of St. Louis. The dome was in bad shape and the concessions were abysmal. You had only 3 food choices, Luke warm brat, pretzel, or prepackaged nachos. I left the game hungry and drove around looking for a McDonald’s. The game was good though.

    Great game, great seats!

by Dwayne on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

A very easy process. Selecting seats, paying, and getting into the game was all a breeze.

    Pretty good game, Meh Dome

by Rich on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

We were sitting at one end zone. There was a video screen at the opposite end, but it was so tiny as to be almost worthless. The Dome turf looked very old, and some escalators didn't work. Since the game was pretty close and people stayed, leading to massive lines getting out.

Concessions were not up to par

by Steve on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Our seats, the fans, the announcer, the activities and the game were all great! Now the concessions were dismal: ran out of beer, LONG lines, not enough workers. It was like they didn't plan on having but a few people in the upper tier or wanted most people to take the stairs to the lower levels to get anything. The workers that were there were great!!

    Tigers Forever

by Valbo on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

No place I’d rather be on a Saturday afternoon, morning or evening than watching MU play football!

Always good to go to a Mizzou game...But

by John on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

First the fact we didn't know when Kickoff was until about a week before the game is a problem for an event like this outside of Columbia. The fact it was hard to plan for deterred a lot of Mizzou fans. Secondly, the dome needs to be cleaned and that is mainly on the city. I get we have no NFL team but the place is just dirty. Residue from Monster trucks and other things is still evident. Finally, concessions on the top level was very limited for a large part of the crowd who sat there. I only counted 3-4 spots altogether.

    Mizzou—Rah!

by Lenny on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

Loved the game and seat location on the club level - it was great! Very Disappointing Issues— Parking is Horrendous!! Horrible! Food variety was poor to none!! RC cola, pretzels & Beer— that’s all there was on the club level??!! Lack of police presence directing traffic, wandering around outside the dome, and inside the dome was shocking! There were more people at the Mizzou game than a Cardinals game and police and security are everywhere at those games! These issues need to be resolved before we would consider attending another event at the dome in the future As I said the game itself was awesome!

    MIZZOU

by JT on 9/26/23The Dome at America's Center - St Louis

I have never been to a University Football game before. I have been to professional football games but there is a difference. One group of proud parents rooting for the band, another rooting for the flag barriers. The next group rooting for the actually related football player with matching T shirts. The rest of us rooting for our team that is on the field. It was a unique experience and a great on to be part of, yes I had a great time.....
