Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired.

The seats were great. we've never sat in the upper deck before, but the biew from above was amazing. we will definitely go back!
I thought that would it was advertized as having 4 players there for autographs but there was only two.
I sat in the 200 level seats and it was still great to watch from up there. The game was amazing and the atmosphere was great as well. The team won 2-0. Cal Clutterbuck scored both goals. There were a few injuries and a few almost fights. I think the refs should have let the fights go, but everyone at the games wants to see a good fight.
Awesome game! Lots of fights and penalties. Go Wild!!
It was great to see the Wild face off against the Blackhawks in the first game since Martin Havlat joined the Wild. Even sweeter was him scoring the first goal, and a subsequent goal later in the game. While this was a pre-season game, and it wasn't the "regular line-up", it was a lot of fun with a number of fights and traditional hockey spirit. Hope to get to another home game soon!
Great to see the hockey season starting back up. Action packed game featuring some young players trying to make the teams! Missed seeing some of the featured players like Jonathon Toews, Patrick Kane, Mikku Koivu, and others.
This was a great event! The budpack tickets were a great idea and very well worth it! I would definitely purchase these again if available.
There were a lot of AHL'ers there wanting to get the 1st NHL fight so we had a little fighting. We also had one new signiee havlat score 2 goals and the other score 1 goal. The Game ended in a shut out. 3-0
My husband and daughter attended for her birthday. She is a big hockey fan so we thought it would be extra cool for her to get to attend the "pre-party" and autograph session. The autographs were great, however, the party started at 3:30 pm and they arrived at 3:45 pm. There was no soda left and no ketchup left for the hotdogs. All in all, a great time - but poor planning on the food/drinks.
Great game, a goal and 2 fights with in 3 min of the game, just how I remembered the Chicago Games from the Stars days. This was my 1st Wild game and I took my daughter for her 17th Bday and she loved it can't wait to go back.
It was a pre-season hockey game. Wild v the Chicago Blackhawks. Incredible game, great seats, no disappointments whatsoever.
The Xcel Energy Center comes alive when the players step on the ice. There is an electrifying feeling that hits. It’s an experience you have to see to believe.
Had a great time at the game! GO WILD.. The upper drink rail seats were great! Not a bad seat at the Xcel
Great game, not a bad seat in the house! You know it's going to be a good game when there's already two fights and one goal scored when it's not even three minutes into the game!
This was very well organized and the players were very gracious. Food could have been better.
The game was so AWESOME!!! Loved every bit of it!!! The fights were great!! And so good to see my Clutterbuck out more...I bought a t-shirt with his name on it..oh yeah 22!!! I wish I could get to meet him someday, it would be like a dream come true for me..just ask my friends..I'm always talking about Cal! LOL..........anywise was a great game, glad I bought the tickets and went!!! A BIG MN WILD FAN!!! PS If you could set up a meeting for me to meet and greet Cal Clutterbuck that would be even better!! :)
It was a fun environment for me & my son. We had a blast. It was worth the 3 hr drive. Hopefully we can go again.
I thought it was a great game. Lots of energy and we WON, that is always great. Our 2 newest players looked awesome. So did everyone else. Looking good this year!!!!
The Wild Party Pack was great. The people working the pre-game event were a bit unorganized, we arrived almost and hour early as we came in from out of town and you never know how long it will take. So we said on some stones out side the entrance. No one said anything about forming a line, then with 10 minutes to go we found out a line has been forming along side the building, fortunately the first people in the line told the event staff that we were here first before them. They also did not announce what was going on, that the players would not be out until 4pm and the emails did not say that either, so people didn't know if they should get food our get in the autograph line. But we got our food and our autographs and saw a great game! Wild shut out Blackhawks 3-0. Wish they would offer things like this for the regular season as the Swarm do.
This was my first experience to see the MN Wild! It was awesome! The crowd gets so involved throughout the whole game... There were 5 fights too! It was interesting to see them live, instead of on tv. They just throw down the gloves and get to business! I cannot wait to go see the Wild play again!
