Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired.

Great seats!! Too bad they lost, but it was awesome.
I have been to quite a few Minnesota Wild games over the past few years, and I usually have a great time. This time was much different. This Wild team is currently atrocious to watch. If you don't have any superstars, you need to increase your intensity and effort, and that clearly isn't happening. It hasn't happended all year. This team is sluggish and seemingly uninterested. Last night was money poorly spent.
I was forced to buy a 2 Game Pack to purchase tickets to the Penguins game. Takes advantage of your fans to do something like this. Xcel Energy Center is fantastic (hence the extra two stars) but the team played awful and lost on a shorthanded goal in the third period - it was an incredibly lazy play.
I received the tickets to see the Wild play the Predators during a special event for National Guard Soldiers. Seats were amazing and enjoyed the game even though the Wild were only exciting for 2 minutes in the 2nd period. Entire process of ordering and getting into the game were really easy.
2 Game Packs are great for out of towners who want to go and see a game on a Wednesday night versus a team that nobody wants to watch. Needless to say I stayed home.
Pretty tough to win a game when you only show up to play a minute and a half. The Wild were not moving their legs, they were letting Nashville waltz on into the attack zone, and they were simply outplayed.
Only way this could have been better is had we won the game. Minnesota Wild games are just a great time regardless of the score.
I always enjoy going to professional hockey games at the Xcel Energy Center. I do feel, as time has passed, that the crowd is relying more and more on the animation and forced clapping and such to cheer on the team than it used to. Where's the organ music? The Wild have been struggling with adjustments to the new coaching staff, surprisingly because the most glaring weakness is the player's positioning, something that the old staff had down to a science. The team is too talented to be where they are now and the feeling here is that once they know where they need to be and where the puck needs to go, the wins will start coming.
Awesome game, WILD won, which was a blast to watch
it was my first wild game and it was great i loved it , inspired me to go to more games!!
Team hasn't been winning on the road, but at least they put on a great show at home. Overtime winners are great to watch. Also, you can't beat the Xcel Energy Center. Bathrooms are always clean and have no lines.
this wild game was the second home game of the season. we played very well, broke some faces and some glass and won in the shoot out. highly recommend going to see the boys play.
The game was excellent! We bought tickets in the upper deck, and were upgraded to first level because a different group didn't show up. Every seat in the Excel is a good seat, but the lower level was EXCELLENT! The game was intense, a good fight, and an overtime win. GO WILD!
We had a great time at the game as always. We love the standing room seats for the convenience of not bothering our neighbors and how quickly we can get to the concessions and bathrooms.
What a great game! Took my girlfriend to the game for her birthday and she loved it. Half way through the first period we were given upgraded seats that put us center ice in the lower section. Amazing!
Clutter's "off his face" goal---and the stretch--- was AMAZING!!!!!
My love of hockey was fully satisfied by this event. The only down point was the fact that this game was not sold out. Wild hockey should be sold out every game. We are, after all, the State of Hockey. Ticket prices need to be lowered to accommodate the economy and to ensure a full arena every night.
The first two periods were pretty slow, but the end of the third...the fourth...and the shootout were all worth it!
I cannot believe the decline in the overall hockey experience in the past few years. I no longer am sure whether I am watching hockey or some form of staged show like a professional wrestling meet. The Wild have reduced their product to the lowest level since the inception and the overall fan experience has disintegrated as well. This is capped off by some genius who decided that the concession prices were not high enough already and that everyone who wants a hamburger should have to fork over $7.50 for their 1/2 pound cheese covered mess. Someone in that organization needs to get a clue before it is too late.
