Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired.

WIld game!!
by outdoorguy on 1/14/10Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5Well as we all know coming into this game the Wild have been on a winning streak and playing great and coming from behind just a few nights before--so I was hoping there good play would keep going. Well it did --it was a great game--even though after 2 periods it was tied 2-2--that 3rd period was so fun to watch---3 goals--3 fights!! What else could you ask for --other than seeing Boogie score!!! and with a 6pm game start--we were on way back home by 9pm---was great--looking to get another game or 2 now!!
MN Wild Bud Light Night
by nelsb01 on 1/14/10Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 4 out of 5Great opportunity to see a pro Hockey game. Included in ticket price was beer and brat. Beer was cold, brat was good, bun was dried out. Enjoyed it so much, once home, got online to see if there was another game offer out there.

Both teams were outstanding and the fans were engaged as well. The whole experience, from the arena to the game itself was a delightful experience.
Crosby plays great - Backstrom plays better!
by Mark1945 on 1/12/10Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5Pitt v. Wild was exciting game. I can't believe how many Pitt fans in MN. Of course, most are Sidney Crosby fans. Crosby did all he could, 2 goals and an assist, but Backstromn kept Wild in the game early and Wild came back twice from a goal down. Despite Wild not putting Pitt away during a 5 minute power play in the third period, Wild played well enough to help Backtrom hold off the ever charging Pens. With a Pitt line-up at Center like no other NHL team, Pitt is shift after shift the NHL's most exciting team when working the puck toand in the slot area.
its Xcel, of course it was awesome

- by Rodman2003 on 1/11/10Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5
The game was great. Probably the best game we have been to yet. There was plenty of fight action and scoreing too. We were able to group some friends together because there were plenty of open seats that night which was very much appreciated. We look forward to more games in the future. The best part was that the Wild kicked butt that night.. "GO WILD"

Best Wild game EVER!
by blueyz9701 on 1/11/10Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5I've been to many Wild games. This one was the closest I'd been to the ice & on the end the Wild shot at twice. This was also the first game I'd been to that has gone past regulation time at home. It was the most exciting game I'd had ever been too.
MAJOR COMEBACK
by PattyO02389 on 1/10/10Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5The game was amazing. The Wild were behind 5-1 and then within 5 minutes there was 3 goals. The shoot out at the end was very intense. It was, overall, a great experience.
