Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired.

Great game, great time! Impressed with the Xcel Center
Was a great game. The Wilds won (4 to 0). We really enjoyed our evening...
As this was my first Wild game at the Excel, it was great! The seats, game and fans were great! The Excel is a great stadium!!!
Great game had no complaints. This was a great event and was the first time my brother in law got to go to see the wild and he enjoyed it a lot.
For what we paid, standing at the rail was perfect. Great view and much closer to the ice then we thought we'd be.
the xcel energy center is an amazing facility. the view from our seats was excellent, the food was very good, the music played during breaks was pretty good, i only wish that my team would have won the game.
Excessive body check by the arena staff at the entrance; very uncomfortable. Opening video is really bad and cheap. Didn't like the idea of keeping the arena a little dark between and before/after the periods. No reason to return - one-time experience is enough.
even though we lost to the Stars, it was still an awesome game with great seats!
It was fun to watch the game from lower level seats. Too bad the Wild couldnt score a few more goals. It is always more fun to watch a winning game.
The Xcel Arena is amazing. The Wild are too. They just weren't that day. Definitely would go again though.
It was great to see hockey live - I only wish the Wild would have played better. But being I am still a Stars fan, I did not walk away completely unhappy. The Stars played very well and the Wild just could not keep pace with them on this particular night. We will get them next time. Love watching hockey at Excel Center - best arena anywhere.
Took the family to the Wild game on Jan 9th as a Christmas gift, only to be disappointed by a team that looked like they hadn't rested in 3 days. Can't believe what we paid for 6 people to attend this game only to see a team that skated no better than an average high school team. For people that call themselves professionals, I couldn't have been more unhappy with the effort the Wild put forward.
The Wild management has to face up to the fact that there is Zero entertainment value in watching this team. The franchise has depended on the mystic of Xcel Center, and the Wild being the thing to do in town. If they do no attempt to build a winner, they will not get people into the building. Even though these were the cheapest seats in the house, they were not anywhere close to being a value. I go to lots of professional sports events. We almost always to early to the event, to watch warmups, etc. The Wild is the only professional franchise which has turned the pregame into an annoying 60 minute commercial. Hearing the PA guy promoting one upcoming event after another is ridiculous. Put on some music and let the fans enjoy themselves, for God's sake.
Even though it was probably the best worst game of the season, the Minnesota Wild got 2 points from it. The game was filled with plenty of cheers and boos, and from all the adrenaline rushes, this game was never a dull moment! I highly recommend that you attend the next MN Wild home game because you need to be apart of team of 18,000!!!
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! Great atmosphere!
the game was great, we won of course the wild did a fabulous job taking on san jose. i can not wait to go back and relive another wild experience!
Great game, great seats - EXCEL is a great arena - exciting win boys!
Great event! I would definitely attend another Wild game in the near future.
The seats were great and the action kept you off your seat
It was a great time. When they needed commercial time you did an excellant job showing the karoke and trivia. Good job everyone.
