Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired.

Great seats for a great game
by WildForTheWild on 3/10/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5The seats I had were section 208, row 5 and they were amazing. I had to lean a bit to see the action in the near corner but it wasn't a big deal.
Great Experience!
by Ferrari333SP on 3/10/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5I had been wanting to take my Dad to a Wild game for a long time, and we finally got to go to one this past Tuesday. I had been to a few games before myself, but he hasn't. Parking was easy, and we quickly found our seats. Despite being at the very top level of Xcel Energy Center, we had a great view of the rink, and could follow everything happening on the ice. The crowd was into the game, and the game itself was pretty entertaining, especially at the Wild won 5-2. Overall we had a great experience!

We had a great time! Love the Xcel Center! Great game :)
Great venue & atmosphere!
by fatheroftwingirls on 3/10/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 4 out of 5If you love hockey, like I do; then this is the place to go!! A little pricey but that seems to be the norm anywhere you go anymore. I stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street - great choice! I wore my Devils jersey to the game and didn't receive any negative comments. Great people, great arena made for a nice evening!
Awesome view
by bwca37 on 3/10/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5The view was spectacular you could see the whole rink and watch line changes and actually see the players last names, unlike TV where you are guessing. We had corner seats by the goaltender, all in all The MN, Wild won so it was a exciting game for a home fan.
Wild, Asleep at the wheel
by GamedayPapa on 3/9/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 4 out of 5Took my girl out on the town last Sunday for dinner and the game. She had never been to a Wild game, and was excited about it a week in advance. She enjoyed herself despite the loss, and we were seated in section 205 with alot of Buffalo fans whom I had a great time verbaly battling with thruout the game! ( good natured sporstmanship). She was happy just to here the lighthouse horn and see some fistacuffs(which she did). I on the other hand was totaly let down with the teams effort! Now I'm not a novice sports fan, and realize that injuries and a grinding schedule factor in, but for a team that had 2 days off, playing for the home crowd, battling for a playoff spot, not to mention it was the cherry on top of our evening, I was disapointed in the way we played. COM'ON MAN!! We love you guys!! We want to see you in the playoffs, DO YOU?
Wild v Sabres
by SCSUalum on 3/9/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 4 out of 5Everything was good except the Wild's lackluster performance

I purchased the Budlight Night out tickets and had a blast at the game. We had great seat and I loved all the freebes we got, only thing is with the package it said you get a souvenir cup which ended up being a tiny little paper cup! To me a paper cup doesn't really qualify as a souvenir cup.
Great game
by wildhockeylover on 3/8/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 4 out of 5Great seats to watch our annual trip to a Wild hockey game. The only thing that sucked is that the Wild lost in OT.

Hawks win on the road making it 5 straight!
by Missthe80sBucks on 3/2/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5I will definitely consider making a road trip to Minnesota more often. Tickets are reasonably priced and ticket availability is better than in Chicago. Stadium is conveniently located in downtown St. Paul with plenty of parking structures and local pubs & restaurants in walking distance. I wish I would have had more time to check out the stadium, but from the parts I did see, its a great place to watch an event and I would definitely go back. Also, I can't express enough about how courteous or how positive the fan experience was in Minnesota. I expected a lot of taunting or rude comments from the local fans being that we were cheering for the opposing team, but we didn't hear a single negative comment. I wish Chicago fans were a little more like that towards visiting fans in the United Center.
Wild vs Blackhawks
by nelsb01 on 3/2/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5She had the Blackhawk jersey, I had the Wild................we only stood up together for the National Anthem. And then after that, she stood up and cheered more than I did. Great game, too bad the home team didnt do more. But the section, the Club level is the place to watch the Wild.
Blackhawks WIN!!!
by SS1234 on 3/2/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5Great game and even better that the Blackhawks won!!!
First Wild game in St Paul
by McRick88 on 2/28/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5I have seen the Wild play live in 3 different cities and two countries, watched hundreds of games on NHL Center Ice, but had never had the pleasure of experiencing a game at the X until last week. It was an amazing experience. We went to the Sunday game also and after our flight got cancelled on Monday we caught Tuesdays game as well. Thanks to all the great fans in St Paul and the great staff at The Hockey Lodge.
Awesome Experience!
by CMNWild84 on 2/25/11Xcel Energy Center - Saint PaulRating: 5 out of 5Great seats, great experience! Would recommend seats to anyone! Nice view of entire rink and close to concessions and bathrooms!
