MINISTRY IN CONCERT:

Legendary industrial metal outfit Ministry has been shaking fans to the core with their bone-crushing live shows for more than three decades, and their upcoming tour dates may be the final chance to see them in action. Longtime Ministry guitarist Mike Scaccia died of a heart attack in 2012, prompting frontmanĀ  Al Jourgensen to declare that the band's 2013 album From Beer to Eternity and accompanying tour would be their last. It's a bittersweet moment for fans -- they get to see the Jourgensen and company let it all hang out on their historic farewell tour dates, but it's also the end of an era. The bland plans to honor their legacy and Scaccia's life by doing what they do best -- delivering ferocious, decibel-shattering performances packed with industrial metal classics like "Stigmata" and "Jesus Built My Hotrod".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Ministry formed in Chicago in 1981 and spent the better half of the decade turning out dark synthpop that earned them a huge underground following. By the mid-'80s the band had reached the peak of their early incarnation with albums like Twitch (1985) and The Land of Rape and Honey (1988) -- two cult classics still heard in alternative dance clubs. Towards the end of the '80s frontman Al Jourgensen was incorporating increasingly aggressive elements into the band's music including jackhammers andĀ  heavily distorted guitar, and by the early '90s Ministry's sound had evolved into full-fledged industrial metal. The band's 1991 album Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs marked a high point, topping Billboard's Heatseekers chart and receiving heavy MTV airplay with the single "Jesus Built My Hotrod". Since then the band has remained an industrial metal powerhouse, releasing eight hard-hitting albums including 2013's From Beer to Eternity -- their final release as Ministry. On their farewell tour dates in support of the album, the band will slay ticket buyers to career-spanning sets celebrating more than three decades of genre-defining music.

    Adrenaline Euphoria

by SnowGalaxy on 3/12/24Fillmore Minneapolis presented by Affinity Plus - Minneapolis

My first Ministry concert as I couldn't afford as a kid in the 90's with 8 siblings. Front Line Assembly and Gary Numan were epic openers and fit into the scene. Guitar and drums on šŸ”„ šŸ”„ šŸ”„! I don't know how many people can appreciate the years of play Ministry has put in and with such profound ease in their intensity. It's a dream come true and relieved the mosh pit days. I was up front with my Bubbles "Decent"t-shirt. Great fans and thank you Al Jourgensen for making your dream come true, not stopping, so I could participate with your talent.

    Loud, fast, and still raging

by Cat on 3/12/24Fillmore Minneapolis presented by Affinity Plus - Minneapolis

Some new, some old, great mix. Al might not move like a young man anymore; but is still fighting the fight and his voice was great. They sounded great, fast and loud as ever. The venue was awesome and intimate.

Never got to go back in the 90's as I was a kid of 8 sibkings. FLA and Gary Numan were epic openers. There was a mosh pit that started and I ended up towards front (guy with Bubbles "Decent"t-shirt) and the mosh pit brought back an experience when I saw NIN at Utah State Fair animal auction arena for Pretty Hate Machine. Would be an awesome combo to see Ministry and NIN! If you want to see real guitar and drums at their best, see Ministry! Fillmore was a great venue. Thanks Al Jorgensen for keeping my dream alive and coming into my reality. You still got it and thank you for not giving up on your dream.

    Way too loud!

by Dimi on 3/12/24Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

The event was awesome, the artists delivered top notch performances BUT it was way too loud, like literally this was the loudest music event I ever attended in my life, and I've been to many larger venues with more powerful sound systems without having such a stressful experience for my ears. It took me almost two full days to recover my hearing abilities (unfortunately I didn't have earplugs with me during the event). All in all, I did enjoy the event, it was a lot of fun, and for all the future visitors of Burton Cummings Theatre - bring your earplugs! And to organizers - please reduce the stage sound outcome.

    Meh

by DigDug87.2 on 3/11/24Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

I'm probably the opposite of most people, I would of preferred to hear more of the newer stuff as opposed to half the set being from the first 2 albums kind of thing. The drummer seemed to really struggle performing the old material as well. Besides that, the show was still enjoyable.

Good show, volume level was excessive

by TG on 3/11/24Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Pretty good show, but I felt sorry for those who did not have earplugs. I heard many complaints about the volume level of Ministry. I understand that the main act usually has a higher volume level than the openers, but this was loud even for a regular concertgoer. The sound was clear despite the SPL. I just think that they should consider their fan's hearing. As far as the set goes, pretty good mix of the new stuff and familiar songs. Gary Neuman and FLA put on great shows. Overall, it was a good experience.

    Loudest act I've seen live

by Briit on 3/11/24Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

10 out of 10, would recommend, unless you don't like loud, heavy music.

    Absolutely amazing show

Donā€™t miss this event! Iā€™ve seen both Gary Numan and Ministry many times but this show was the best so far! Perfect lineup.

    Renewed my love for them

    by J. Y. on 9/12/23

I have some of their albums but haven't heard them in a while. I was floored by the show. They sounded amazing and they sound just like the studio live. Will go out of my way to see them again and pick up their new music.

    Worst Ministry show ever

by Dave on 5/12/23The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

Ministry only did 6-7 songs. Iā€™ve seen them before and they did an awesome full set but this was a joke. Why even go on tour if you arenā€™t going to really play. The opening acts were OK but I wouldnā€™t pay to see them and I wish I hadnā€™t wasted my time and money at all. The lead act should do at least 12 songs this was a ripoff.

    Unbelievably awesome.

    by R. L. on 5/8/23

Ministry just brings it. Saw them in Milwaukee. People underrate the musicians in this band. From drummer Roy Mayorga as the backbone. They do newer stuff the first half and then flip to the classics to end. Incredible show. Rocking with killer riffs and hooks that will not leave your head.

    Outstanding show!

by B. H. on 5/8/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

It was an Outstanding concert! Haven't seen Ministry in over five/six years, and they put on an even better show than the first time I saw them.

    Alā€™s still got it!

by Zerulian XIV on 5/7/23Tabernacle - Atlanta

This show was spectacular and an all around treat. Al Jorgensen at 64 is more energetic and commanding than people 1/3 his age. The addition of Gary Numan to the lineup was such a great choice, too. I will never miss him again. This show was everything I hoped for and then some.

    Great show!!

by Page23 on 5/6/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

Great show, helpful staff. FLA started much earlier than expected (even though I was there just after doors opened), so I missed them. Gary was amazing!! Ministry was great but ended a little eatly.

    It was ā€œehhhā€

by KDubs on 5/6/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

Security here is tighter than the airport. Staff is unnecessarily gruff. I felt like I was doing something wrong just by being there. Not cool.

    Great show

by Jeremiah on 5/6/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

All 3 bands were great and it was a fun night overall. A few people around me wished Ministry played "So What" but I thought it was cool to hear an unreleased song and a new cover song.

    Completely Painful

by Tom on 5/6/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

I had to leave after two songs because the volume was painfully loud Very disappointing but I know better than to allow myself to suffer needlessly I am sure my ears would have been ringing for some time because even with just seeing Gary Numan who was at a reasonable volume and just the first two Ministry songs I had ringing in my ears after the show Not going back to The Fillmore Their sound system is awful!

    Great show

by Suzanne on 5/6/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

Had an awesome time. Wasn't super familiar with ministry - for me the draw was Gary Numan - but I stayed through the end and they did NOT disappoint. Packed show. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Loud as expected. They all played an awesome set. 10/10 would repeat!
