MINISTRY IN CONCERT:
Legendary industrial metal outfit Ministry has been shaking fans to the core with their bone-crushing live shows for more than three decades, and their upcoming tour dates may be the final chance to see them in action. Longtime Ministry guitarist Mike Scaccia died of a heart attack in 2012, prompting frontmanĀ Al Jourgensen to declare that the band's 2013 album From Beer to Eternity and accompanying tour would be their last. It's a bittersweet moment for fans -- they get to see the Jourgensen and company let it all hang out on their historic farewell tour dates, but it's also the end of an era. The bland plans to honor their legacy and Scaccia's life by doing what they do best -- delivering ferocious, decibel-shattering performances packed with industrial metal classics like "Stigmata" and "Jesus Built My Hotrod".
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Ministry formed in Chicago in 1981 and spent the better half of the decade turning out dark synthpop that earned them a huge underground following. By the mid-'80s the band had reached the peak of their early incarnation with albums like Twitch (1985) and The Land of Rape and Honey (1988) -- two cult classics still heard in alternative dance clubs. Towards the end of the '80s frontman Al Jourgensen was incorporating increasingly aggressive elements into the band's music including jackhammers andĀ heavily distorted guitar, and by the early '90s Ministry's sound had evolved into full-fledged industrial metal. The band's 1991 album Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs marked a high point, topping Billboard's Heatseekers chart and receiving heavy MTV airplay with the single "Jesus Built My Hotrod". Since then the band has remained an industrial metal powerhouse, releasing eight hard-hitting albums including 2013's From Beer to Eternity -- their final release as Ministry. On their farewell tour dates in support of the album, the band will slay ticket buyers to career-spanning sets celebrating more than three decades of genre-defining music.
Good sound, good show... great time!!! Wanted to see Ministry for years ...finally now!!!!
Ministry never fails to impress and were spot on with all their songs. It was a sold out show so, of course, it was difficult to navigate through the crowd. However, being that they draw a larger crowd, please stop having their shows at HoB. They have that awkward 'vip' area in the middle that takes up so much room and makes if even feel even more crowded. Then you have the workers there that keep telling people to 'move' 'move'. Where do you want everyone to go?
Incredible experience! About 9 years ago my man introduced me to Ministry with "Jesus Built My Hotrod"and I loved it. And every other song of theirs that I have heard since. I have no idea how I missed them for 30 years! And then I realized that if I'm 55 then Al Jorgensen must be.. and they still kicked ass! The venue had great acoustics, which complemented their jams even more, and I heard a few songs that I have never heard before, and they were awesome, too. In summation, I don't always listen to Ministry, but when I do, so do my neighbors. ššš
Super great time in Biloxi The band was tight, Aggressive and loud.. Made for a night of Awesome Music ā¦
The openers far outshines ministry played out style, announcing song names after each song, really a soulless performance all the way around, meanwhile Gary newmans performance was inspired to say the least , wonderfull truly, highly recommend everyone go see him play, front line assembly was wonderful as well, but Gary Newman truly stole the show. Bottom line ministry sucks now, they really do first show Iāve left early in my life. This is getting 3 stars because of the openers.
I have Stage IV lung cancer and could only last for the first 2 acts.
One of my favorite concerts that I will never forget. It was great seeing some friends ,especially Cesar in the band. I was head banging their entire set. I even teared up a bit,cuz I have been a Ministry fan since the 80ās. I can only hope that I get a chance to see them again. Thank you Uncle AL for coming to Birmingham Alabama and playing my favorite songs. Especially opening with B.D.E.,Stigmata and Jesus Built My Hot Rod. Please come back to melt our faces with your all mighty music.
Great show at a great venue. Everyone associated with the venue were helpful and accommodating. The prices for the tickets, concessions were very reasonable as well. Everyone anywhere near Birmingham should catch a show at Avondale brewing. Oh, and their craft beers are not that bad either.
Venue was very nice the line up was excellent definitely one of the best shows Iāve ever been to! Ministry gave 110% excellent
1. Worst Venue- 2. I don't see how Ministry relates to Gary Newman or Frontline assembly as he made synth a minute ago and admits he does not care for his older music. None of his music is industrial. Wish Frontline would have played newer music. Gary Newman was awesome. I don't see how anyone can compare Ministry to NIN because it's not even close. I think he sounds more like Pantera.
This was a great show. The venue was amazing no matter where you stood in the venue you could See the show I really liked how they put the merch table inside the venue so you could watch the show while you waited in line. Great idea I had such a good time.
Ministry gets better every year. I'm so happy that Al is still going strong. Hope Cherokee was as wonderful to you as your concert was to us fans.
Super happy with all 3 bands performances! They sounded incredible and were on time and entertained the crowd! AMAZING show I'm still smiling!! Suoer Happy Fan! ā¤ļø
You know in those movies there's that cool scene where you go into a dark club, there's a ton of people, lights flashing everywhere and there's a band playing on stage? That's EXACTLY what this show reminded me of...a total vibe from beginning to end! Ministry , Gary Numan and Front Line Assembly absolutely tore the house down at Hard Rock LIVE in Orlando!!! Perfect lineup of artists for a tour! My only regret is not getting to watch it all over again the following night in Tampa. For sure one of my Top 10 shows attended, if not easily a Top 5 š¤š
They still kill it, live even after all these years. Had so much fun with friends at the show. The only thing that was bad was the sound at the venue
Bring earplugs. Wish I had. Loudest concert Iāve ever been to in my life.
Gary Numan was great tho, good stuff....................................................................................................................................................................
Ministry is as good as ever. Even better than ever. This stable touring lineup has gelled into an unstoppable force. The new songs are pure fire. Gary Numan was phenomenal. No musician ever stayed as current as Gary Numan has. He's morphed with the times. And the casino put down a nice thick carpet for us to go nuts on. Nicely done Cherokee Casino.
Tucked away in the mountain town of Cherokee NC, at Hurrahsās Casino Event Center; an industrial celebration was delivered. Front Line Assembly got the party started, followed by an amazing performance by Gary Numan & finished up with the ever entertaining Ministry. What a line up and what a show! Second time seeing Ministry and was not disappointed. The sound of all three bands was loud and energizing-great venue. The surprise of the night was Gary Numan, he has such stage presence & being unfamiliar with his catalogue (except for In Cars and Down in the Park), we were blown away by his music. That being said, we bought tickets for this concert to see Ministry. While enjoying their new music, itās the classics that we came to hear. There is something to be said about hearing songs like Thieves, N.W.O and Stigmata live. Not only is the band amped to play them but the audience participation is adrenalized. Unlike the previous Ministry show a couple years ago, So What was not on this eveningās set list-the only bummer of the night! Already looking forward to seeing Ministry again next tour and hopefully Gary Numan as well. What an awesome night!
What a great show! So much wild energy. Frontline Assembly, Gary Numan, and Ministry!! Best show I've seen in years... All three bands were FANTASTIC.
