Milwaukee Bucks History

On January 22, 1968, the National Basketball Association awarded a Milwaukee-based franchise to Milwaukee Professional Sports and Services, Inc., a group of investors headed by Wesley D. Pavalon and Marvin L. Fishman. The Bucks struggled through their first season, but immediately turned that around following the selection of Lew Alcindor (who would later go by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) at No. 1 overall in the 1969 NBA Draft. In his second season, Alcindor won the NBA MVP and led the Bucks as they steamrolled through the playoffs. They swept the Baltimore Bullets in the NBA Finals, giving the Bucks a championship in just their third year of existence.

The Bucks were a powerhouse team for the first half of the 1970s, led by Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson. After the departure of Abdul-Jabbar to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1975, the team was in a transition period until head coach Don Nelson came aboard in November 1976. The 1980s saw much success for the Bucks team with the additions of Sidney Moncrief in 1979 and Bob Lanier in 1980. Nelson won NBA Coach of the Year twice during his 11-year tenure with the Bucks while leading the team to seven division titles.

The Bucks struggled throughout the 1990s and 2000s, but the 2010s brought the Bucks to its modern era and coined the start of the iconic "Fear the Deer'' phrase after a playoff win over the Chicago Bulls in 2010. In the 2013 NBA Draft, the Bucks selected Giannis Antetokounmpo as the 15th overall pick and acquired Khris Middleton from the Detroit Pistons. April 16, 2014 marked the beginning of a new era for the NBA franchise, as ownership was transferred to a new group headed by entrepreneurs Marc Lasry and Wes Edens.

In the 2020–21 season, led by Antetokounmpo, the Bucks capped off a historic year by defeating the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals in 6 games to become NBA Champions for the second time in franchise history.

it was an entertaining and enjoyable night. $7 beer is a bit much, but the seats were a great price, so it was worth it.

    Oh No, Overtime

by Figbee on 11/17/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

After putting up a great battle, the Bucks lost in overtime at the last second. It looks like the Bucks finally have it together and with the addition of Brandon Jennings, you cant help but get into the game. Attending the game you are also entertained by Squad 6, the group of fans that help the crowd get into the game and keep spirits up. If you've never attended a Bucks game, I suggest you do it soon. You wont be sorry.

    2009/10 Bucks for real

by Muttski on 11/17/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

Enjoyed the game immensely especially with the excitement of Brandon Jennings. All hard workers on the court - most refreshing and exciting the team has been in years. This game should help bolster ticket sales.

    Bucks (and Jennings) are unforgettable!

    by Moose7 on 11/17/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

One of the best Bucks games ever. The little rookie can play...he took the team on his back and won the game. The crowd was totally into it, and people were standing for much of the 3rd and 4th quarters. My wife, a marginal fan, was really excited and loved the game and the atmosphere - like a playoff game. It was alot of fun!!!

    Bucks & Jennings

by Press on 11/16/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

The evening was electric for the Bucks versus Golden State. Watching Brandon Jennings put on a show that hasn't been seen in years at the Bradley Center. The Bucks finally have made a lucky draft pick that will benefit them for years, unlike most of their last picks. If this continues I might be able to attract clients to attend their games.

Game was very exciting. Quite a bit of energy in the arena even though it appeared to be only half full. Amount of merchandise at the pro shop was limited as compared to years past.

    Jennings Record Night of 55

    by Three3 on 11/16/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

It was an outstanding game and performance from rookie point guard Brandon Jennings. Jennings marked a career-high 55 points as the Bucks surpassed the Warriors in an unforgettable exciting game, down to the last second. I really had a great time as did my son. Wow! You had to be there! We possibly watched the breakout performance from maybe the Rookie of the Year!

    brandon jennings was awesome

by conception on 11/15/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

Took my daughter to the game, expecting the Bucks to blow out the Warroirs. Game was very exciting from start to finish. Besides the entertainment on the court, Bango was a hit as always. Crowd was totally into it, Brandon Jennings lit up the crowd with his heriocs in the third quarter. Place was hopping. I would suggest going to the Bucks game a must see for anyone who has not experienced the moment.

    History observed

by LuvJennings on 11/15/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

For those casual Bucks fans who haven't yet seen this team play, you are missing out! At any time Brandon Jennings plays, history could be made. He certainly did Saturday night putting up 55 points (and all in three quarters). The last Buck to do that was Kareem and Jennings is fifth on all time rookie scoring. How many other rookies (or other players) can be mentioned with Wilt Chamberlin and Kareem? This kid is amazing. The slogan for the NBA "Where Amazing Happens" has finally come true in Milwaukee. This kid is special, once in a life time athlete to watch! You got to get to the BC and watch him play. Win or lose (more wins I predict) this kid is spectacular. He should be hands down the Rookie of the Year! He certainly already is the MVP of our team.

    Men's Night Out

by spiderman on 11/15/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

All four of us are teachers and decided to have a night out at the Bucks game. The tickets gave us a nice view. It was nice to see Nellie back in town. The Bucks did not match up well with the Warriors. Then the rookie Jennings took over and was on fire. He ended up with 55 points! I was at the Bucks game in 2001 when they beat the Hornets to go to the Eastern Finals. This game ranked right up there with that one.

    Jennings was unstoppable!!!

by vansmack on 11/15/09Bradley Center - Milwaukee

This game started out like most before, with the Bucks facing a deficit at halftime. But then, this little guy for the Bucks decided it was his time to shine! The 3rd quarter was his, he owned it! Raining shot after shot from beyond the 3 point line, to floating jumpers ,to breaking guys down off the dribble and laying it in past them. This quarter was truly sensational!!! The Bucks may have finally found a diamond in the rough. His name is BRANDON JENNINGS.I have a felling you will see and hear more of him in the future. Stay tuned!!! And yes, the Bucks won!!
