MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET ON TOUR:

Hot on the heels of its Broadway run, rock and roll musical Million Dollar Quartet is on the road to tell the story of the fateful meeting between Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash at an impromptu jam session in December of 1956. The musical focuses on these newcomers before they became icons, gathered for a rare collaboration at Sun Studios in Memphis. The cast brilliantly portrays the original performers while playing each timeless track with perfection and ease. Million Dollar Quartet will have fans all shook up this summer with their red-hot 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Million Dollar Quartet tells the story of four Southern rock legends who unexpectedly came together in 1956 for a very spontaneous recording session at Sun Studios. Since its 2007 premiere, the electrifying production has graced theaters across the US, landing on Broadway in 2010 for an acclaimed year-long run. Nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Musical, Million Dollar Quartet transports audiences back in time to the golden age of rock and roll with an iconic collection of hits that will leave fans feeling like a million bucks.

  • Jerry Lee Lewis Rocks the House

    by P. K. on 1/22/19Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

As an Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash fan, I was intrigued by the opportunity to see the Broadway production of the Million Dollar Quartet at the Coronado Performing Arts Center in Rockford IL on January 17, 2019. Fully expecting to be mesmerized by the two artists I find so influential to my musical interests, I found myself constantly watching “Jerry Lee” and his antics on the stage. Not that there was anything wrong with the performance of the other artists, they were each extremely talented. But “Jerry Lee” definitely stole the show. I look forward to my next opportunity to see this production.

Very entertaining! All the characters gave great performances from the singing to the instrument playing to the acting.

  • Fantastic!

by Joe on 1/20/19Coronado Performing Arts Center - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

All performers did a superb job of portraying the characters they were playing (Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, record producer Sam Phillips, Elvis's friend Dyanne, Carl's brother Jay, and drummer Fluke). The play was historically informative and entertaining. It must be difficult to cast a play with characters that are well known and musically talented; but this production of Million Dollar Quartet pulled together a cast that portrayed their characters as if they were in fact the talented artists they were portraying. Especially noteworthy was Billy Rude who played Jerry Lee Lewis. His portrayal of the irreverent young pianist was exceptional both in theatrical performance and musical talent.

This was a good presentation. I loved it. The sound could have been a bit louder. But maybe it was the venue. I'd see this again. And Jerry Lee Lewis...crazy.

A great performance. The music was amazing and the cast members really emulated their characters very well. Jerry Lee Lewis kind of steals the show with his amazing and unbelievable piano playing skills. Definitely work seeing. You will be dancing in your seat, guaranteed.

  • Million Dollar Quartet all that I hoped for

by billydan on 10/2/18BancorpSouth Arena - TupeloRating: 5 out of 5

I have had the pleasure of seeing this show when it opened in New York and then later in Memphis when it was touring. It has an easy stage set up and was ideal for a Tupelo Production. Other than a late start, I could find nothing that was not satisfactory.

  • Million Dollar Quartet was good.

    by Driftaway2 on 10/1/18BancorpSouth Arena - TupeloRating: 3 out of 5

We really enjoyed the show. Some of the acting was a little over the top. The Jerry Lee Lewis character reminded me more of Ernest T. Bass from the Andy Griffith show but I was able to overlook that and enjoy the music which was outstanding.
